Brown velvet jacket and camel pencil skirt

Posting only once a week is too little. Three times a week is too much. So I am now trying twice a week.
Tuesdays and Thursdays. Will you keep visiting me?
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

One evening I grabbed this brown velvet jacket and was determined to make an outfit with it. The lovely green skirt which created such a nice ensemble, had gone to pieces years ago.
Looking through my wardrobe in search of a light coloured skirt, I found this camel pencil skirt. Never wear it because it can give me a tummy and it creases enormously.

My husband is my critic for a new outfit, so downstairs I went: “What do you think of this outfit, darling?”
He actually judges and answers. Isn’t that nice? And he approved. That wasn’t the end of it (poor man), I still needed an answer to what colour top I would wear underneath it. “Yellow” he said immediately. So yellow it is. As I said before … I am not very good at styling but I have my little helpers… LOL

The cameo was a bit too much in his book, but I liked it. My yellow bag was still in use from the outfit of the day before…. hence… the yellow bag.

The next day I took my camera to work again, as this is the easiest way of getting photos which are a bit different from the boring garden photos. Unfortunately I had a bad-hair-day. And I had to squeeze my eyes because of the sun. But the photos are nice, very arty. Just look at the outfit and ignore the face.

Above left: not really my favourite point of view for photos….but I liked the fact that you see my legs reflected in the glass of the stairs (art over looks).

Got a lot of compliments that day. Which surprised me. But what do I know?

WOW, this is my favourite outfit so far, Greetje! You look gorgeous and your yellow bag is fabulous! Where is it from?

BTW, I was wondering “Is it Wednesday already?” before I read your post 😉
And I can’t see your bad hair day but I had my hair cut by another lovely Dutch lady today!

Haha, that is funny: “Is it Wednesday already?”. No, just another change of mind.
      Thank you for the compliments.
And the bag is by Coach. I ordered it from America and “forgot” customs. But DHL did not want to give me the bag until I paid quite a fair amount of money. Which made the bag terribly expensive.

I love this outfit. I love the style work. I think the skirt is beautiful and looks great on you, where is your belly? The jacket is beautiful and is perfect with the skirt. The bag is wonderful. Maybe close your eyes from the sun, but keep your beautiful smile intact.

Sometimes I get it just right. With a little help of my friends. Or in this case my husband.

My hair is one of my weakest points but I suppose I am too critical about myself. And thanks for visiting.

I like this outfit! You look very sophisicated and chic. I can’t do chic. It just isn’t me, but you can certainly rock it!! My husband never, ever advises me, but that’s OK. I usually don’t want any comment other than, “you look nice.” He does say that quite often, and that’s enough for me.

    Cheers from England,

You are so right. In the end that is the only real thing. The thing that counts the most.

What a great color, yellow. It lightens up the outfit beautifully. Ron certainly knows what he is talking about. Whole outfits works very well for me. Sophisticated and chic, elegant and fresh. I am not surprised you got the complements you did.

And I am still surprised as I find this outfit very classic and I miss the modern twist. Or do shoes and bag count for the modern twist?

You look fabulous! The jacket and skirts seem so tame, but then the pop of yellow makes it surprising and fun. Love love love your yellow bag.

Logical you got so many compliments because this is a fabulous outfit! The proportions of the colours and the clothes are perfect. And having those 2 yellow blocks make the outfit look graphical and hip. You’re looking like the fun, savvy, hip and competent business woman that you are!

See, I just don’t get it. I thought it was “alright”. Nevetheless… I did it. Does not matter how.

  8. 13 March 2013 / 11:00

I’m not surprised that you got a lot of compliments, this is a very nice outfit and you look great in it! The yellow splashes of color really makes the whole outfit. Perfect, Greetje!

Well, well, well. Very pleased with all these compliments.
I think I am going to invite Anja to give a comment. See whether this outfit can pass her critical eye..

Hello Greetje! I am Kattis (from Sweden) and I recently found your blog via 40+style. I have enjoyed your posts both there and here on your blog, both for your style and for your sense of humor. I wanted to let you know that I will keep following your blog (no matter how many times a week you decide to post) even if I might not comment evey time. I like your outfit for today, very elegant.

Hahaha…so here I am, stereotyped as The Critical B*tch… Funny!
I looked at the pics with the intent to be very critical, but I an only say: well done.

Why? Because this is very much you. It is classical, yet due to the top and bag (the yellows) contemporary at the same time.

And the silhouette and look is very flattering. It presents your body in a very good way.

By the way: it is NOT the shoes that contribute to the modern look. They are fine, combined this way, but without the two yellow items this would indeed be a boring, traditional outfit. But not now. You look gorgeous!

    • 13 March 2013 / 17:55

See….??? I just don’t see it. But it is very nice to hear it from you as well. And you are no cricical b*tch. You are honest, like me.

Fabulous pop of yellow and a matching sunshine smile, ahhhhhhhhhhh. Who needs the sun???
Thank you everytime for your coments. I know how true they are, and I am definitely will be visiting, because I am adding you this second to my blogroll.
    Have a lovely Wednesday Greetje.

Oh yes, the bag. Such a great investment. My husband actually hates yellow with black. And I use that combination so much.

  13. 14 March 2013 / 15:27

Now I know I need a yellow bag very soon….just havent found something like yours!! I have a little suggestion….why dont you curl your hair a little, I’m sure you will look devastating my dear. BTW, I mentioned & linked you in my newest post….I just couldn’t help it…hahaha!

How exciting… I am going to have a look at your post immediately.
And as far as my hair is concerned…it is thin and I have not got much of it. There is not a lot I can do with it. Curling won’t last more than an hour. Thanks for the tip, but as soon as the frost is out of the air I will be home and dry.
