Black Sarah Pacini trouser suit

Sinterklaas Saint NicholasThis Sarah Pacini suit had to be published today. You see, in The Netherlands, today (December 5) we celebrate Sint Nicolaas, who is a sort of a “colleague” of Santa Claus. And Sint Nicolaas has helpers, who wear wide trousers.
The tradition dates way back when the bishops in Spain (were Sint Nicolaas is coming from….) had Moor servants. A lot of people nowadays are against portraying the Moor servants with faces which are made black. Of course now we know this is discriminating. There are still people who say “hands off of our tradition” but luckily more and more people say “stop this immediately, you are hurting people”.
The discussion divides the country while this feast is the highlight of the year in our country. A solution is sought by applying black smudges on the helper’s faces as you see in the photo above. From the chimneys they allegedly climb down to deliver the presents.

Today’s outfit resembles a Moor outfit. Which is why I would not dare wearing it today.
I like this outfit a lot. It is the same sweater as I wore a couple of days ago with the red cowboyboots.
And the shoes are the same as shown yesterday.

It is very comfortable and the “bow” at the back is perfect for my figure.

The green bag is for the “pop” of colour. As is the necklace.

I have noticed from uploading all these outfits, that I have a lot of black clothes. Also a lot of tops which are all cut the same way at the top at the back. Strange… I should vary a bit more.

Above: see what a bodyshaper can do? LOL

Hope all you Dutch readers get lots of presents from Sint Nicolaas tonight.

  1. The fit is perfect on you, but I’m not a great fan of the trousers. Sorry!

    1. I thought the trousers would be an acquired taste haha.

  2. Thank you for the History lesson about Sint Nicolaas and the Black Peets. I love to learn about other cultures and traditions. Do you also celebrate on December 25th or is today your family dinner and gift exchange? Marianne makes it sound like you get presents if you have been good and are punished if you are bad. I am worried about you Greetje! :)I really like your pants and top. It is different but attractive. I know you don’t have many cocktail parties in Holland but this would be a great outfit to wear to one of those events. Some people say black is too harsh but I always think it is sophisticated and elegant. The beautiful necklace is just the right amount of color by your pretty face. USA Suzanne

    1. How can you be worried about me? I am always good……. and if I am not, I don’t tell anybody about it. :)A shame I don’t have cocktail parties. And I always try to add some colour near my face to a black outfit. That way, I tell myself, the colour of the outfit doesn’t matter anymore.

  3. I love the sweater, bag, necklace and shoes, but … no pants, sorry. You look good with them, you feel good, but it’s my problem, I do not like this pattern will be a craze.

    1. They remind me of college musicians called “tunos” and I do not like anything. They are the oldest Spanish paradigm.

    2. That is probably because you are from Spain hahaha. LOL Seen too many Black Peets have you?

    3. I agree. I looked it up in Google. Very medieval.

  4. I don’t like this model pants, like JM says. Maybe with black boots yes, but I m afraid not even with that….The rest is nice.

    1. Your comment is very much appreciated though. Even if you don’t like it. Everybody had to be honest with me. I prefer that.

  5. Like the black suit, but would prefer to see it with boots. Start a new trend and start hosting a few cocktail parties, after all, you have the “gear” got it! Xx Patski

    1. I have tried the trousers with boots too. Is not bad but I prefer it with shoes.

I forgot to ask you if your necklace is from the same designer as your red necklace. I really like them.

    1. No, it was made somewhere in Africa by women who get paid a decent fee for that. That is all I can remember.

There is no Sint Nicolaas party for me today. No more small children at home. These pants in mine opinion are a little eastern orientated. They give me a Ali Baba vibe.So yes the wright outfit for today. When you were naughty as a child, Black Peet would put you in a bag and send you to Spain. I Hope I was bad enough this year for him to pick me up and take me to Spain immediately to the sun, because it was snowing today.Greetje can I borrow your pants then for the journey.

    1. Sorry dear, I am hanging on to them. I don’t want Sint Nicolaas mistake you for one of his Black Peets. Ali Baba peet. He would put you right at work on arrival.

  8. This is a really great look. There’s definitely nothing wrong with a lot of black. It makes that necklace (which I love) more of a pop.xo,Terryhttp://terrys-two-cents.blogspot.com

    1. These shoes do not seem to cut it with you lot, haha.
