Black trouser suit

This suit is perfect for its comfort and quality. Again a suit by Pauw.
As you can see, it is very classic. Very much for the office (chic and strict), which I find rather limited.

In order to modernise it, I added the patent leather shoes. I had this suit in mind when I “bought” them.
And to brighten it up I chose colourful T-shirts and a playful scarf.
It still remains a very classic suit. What can you expect when you add pearls and a scarf (duh…). Never mind, sometimes I feel like classic. At least it is a suit that gives me a good figure and the shoes give it a modern twist.

As you can see I managed to make several combinations even though they are much alike:

  • with a red and white shirt
  • with a red and white shirt and a black and white scarf
  • with a black and white scarf and pearls
  • with an orange T-shirt and pearls

I start with my favourite: red and white shirt, black and white scarf and dog.

The colours of some photos are a bit peculiar. I am still learning.

Below: without the scarf.

With only the scarf and pearls:

With the orange T-shirt and lots of pearls:

Lots of photos, much the same but also differing. Have you got a favourite?

  1. I love it with the pop of polkadots. Thank you my friend for your kind comment.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  2. You are getting so good at mixing and matching Greetje. All great combis with my least favorite being the 2 outfits with the long pearls. I may even like the outfit without the scarf with your striped t-shirt best.

    1. Learned 80% of what I am doing by you and your site. So thank you for starting it.

I like the first combination the most. I think with the doublebreasted jacket the long pearls are too much, a little massy. The shoes give the suit that modern touch, so you are wright about buying them with this suit in the back of your mind.

    1. We have 3 votes in favour of the first look. The shoes… it doesn’t always turn out the way I think and plan but this time it did work out.

  4. Hm, difficult choice so I won’t choice. Will depend on your mood or agenda at the office what combination goes best. Trip to the add agency, number 1, presentation for the board, scarf and pearls…… You look great in all of them, gives you a beautiful waist. Although it is a classical suit it definitely has a very contemporary feel with the big pockets. The shoes give it great spunk.

    1. Thanks Katrien. So lovely you stop by.

  5. Double breasted shuts do look very formal now, but I remember when they were all the rage! It’s a very nice suit. I wouldn’t know how to make it more casual though.

    1. I am pleased with it as I have combined it now.

  6. You do have a number, my dear Greetje- 21. You have done it beautifully.
I lov ethe clash of stripes and polka dots.
    You are always sooooooooooooo fabulous.

    1. Ah… well… you are art and I conform more. But both should exist. Happily next to each other.
This post is an old post but the closest I have to “inspired by a movie”.
Tomorrow night I will publish my next post (second part of shopping in the Nine Streets in Amsterdam) and I will link to your Share-in-Style (new post, new readers).

  7. Your hair looks gorgeous in these pictures. I really like this outfit, you look stylish and attractive and your figure looks perfect. I really like the pattern of the jacket and the pants drop. All combinations are nice, but if I have to choose, I prefer the picture 5, with the scarf and pearls, you look beautiful.

    1. My hair is a weak point. So before I take photos I make sure every single hair is in the right position. Sort of. And I admit, it does look good here. Photos can be so deceiving hahaha. And I knew you would go for picture 5, with your preference for classic.

  8. The suit fits you like a glove, so it provides the perfect background for anything you choose to do with accessories. You look beautiful in all interpretations. I think I would like the 5th photo with the polka dot scarf, but without the pearls. It would frame your beautiful face. It looks like you’re having fun, and that’s the most important.

    1. I do, I do. Having fun is what I strive for all the time.

    1. “Polished”… that is a good description.

  10. This suit is perfectly tailored for you. It really looks great. I think the striped top and black and white dotted scarf with the new booties is a very on trend style. The pants and jacket may be classic but you have used your accessories to make stylish and modern outfits. You are awesome!USASuzanne

  12. It’s a nice and classic suit, and I’m not sure about needing to modernise it – it’s a classic! I love the first combination, the scarf really adds a nice touch:)

    1. My favourite as well, although I quite like the fifth one as well (with the scarf and pearls).
