Miscellaneous clothes

I haven’t got any new photos ready (lack of time), so here are some forgotten ones from the past. Hence the strange title of this post: miscellaneous clothes. I couldn’t think of another title.

In these pictures I am still a brunette (sigh). First my purple velvet jacket and black & white pencil skirt. Both by Pauw (Dutch brand). This is a style I am not that keen on anymore. As a matter of fact, I never wear the skirt anymore. Don’t even know whether it still fits me. Any ideas as how to style the skirt in a more modern way… ?? Please share them with me in your comment. The jacket is another item I find very difficult to style.

Below: then there was this challenge on 40+Style to style a scarf in different ways. This is the same boyfriend jeans as you saw last week, but with only a tight top (cannot do that anymore). And…. with high heels. The colours of the photos are a bit funny: the top is black, the jeans dark blue, the booties deep red with a green sole and a blue heel.

Playing catch-up (AGAIN!) Darling Greetje … if you’ll put up with me, it may be my permanent mode of operation! Sorry … slow but relatively steady.
It’s a treat to go back and review your photos and how you were wearing things. Those are some great jeans. Do you still have them? Love that set of headshots! So cute, you. I like your hair either way. Blonde or Brunette, you’re adorable.

  I do catch-up all of the time. Every weekend as a matter of fact, so I totally get it. No problem at all. I am glad you take the time to look at all of them.
  Yes, I still have the jeans. They are the same ones I am wearing in the post “boyfriend jeans with a jacket”. You liked them best with the black and white tweed looking jacket and the oxfords. I think they look a lot better with high heels than with flat shoes. Well, any outfit looks better with heels in my opinion. But that is not always possible in my case. Being blond or brunette…. I am still weighing it.

  My friend Daniela of The Pretty Cute pointed out last year that I am hardly wearing any dresses or skirts anymore. Which she thought was a shame. And I agree with her. So I am trying to correct that.

Lovely velvet jacket! Keep it in your closet as sooner or later you will be in love with it again…
I find you look very nice also being a blond, the fact is that I always love how you are ..and changings reflect your rich personality!

Your skirt is so on trend and can be easily worn with any colored top. If you want to wear it casually, a plain white tee with denim jacket? For dressier option, go with any colored top with an open blazer. Sky is the limit with it. it would be fun with stripes too.

  Denim near my face is something I have abolished years ago. A plain white T is a good idea as it mixes casual with classic, but it is a winter skirt, so I need to come up with a winter version of a casual top. I am now trying to lose weight to fit into the skirt again. I have all summer to do that haha.

The skirt? How about a bright lemony yellow jacket with a grey blouse. Would that work? For the jacket, yellow jeans and a top with both colours or more in it.

  I have a lemony yellow jacket with black buttons. That might be quite nice. Thanks. Doesn’t need a grey blouse. And I don’t have a grey blouse. I do have a grey striped blouse. Might also work.
  The jacket… yellow jeans… Haven’t got those. I have ochre yellow trousers but they are summer trousers. If I combine them I will either be cold at the bottom or hot at the top haha.
  I got another suggestion for white skinnies and I have cream skinnies…. which is nearly yellow.

I agree with the other ladies. The jacket is great to combine with jeans , because the velvet is so classy it needs a modern contrast. The skirt you can combine with a lot of bright coloured tops you have, it just needs some colour.

That skirt is great right now with the windowpanes….I’d pair it with a chambray shirt or some floral to make it more casual! That jacket is such a brilliant, lovely color—I’m a sucker for white jeans, so that’s how I might wear it! jodie

  Oh good one Jodie. I have just bought creme skinnies. That might work. Although pure white would be even better. I was unable to find winter white skinnies. The ones I got are more spring.

A pencil skirt looks more modern now with shorter jackets (bomber or moto jackets) or shorter tops. Pairing it with more modern shoes would help too.
As for the hair, it looks really good on the top pictures. I’m not sure that you have to go blond. Look at Dorrie from Senior Style Bible. She mentioned that she tried blond (as recommended) but it did not work for her at all. I have been coloring my own hair the last months and you can do it as often as you like.

  I know…. I decided to change my hair for good, mainly because Ron liked it but I think I will accept the fact you see the outgrow and go back to brown after the summer. (I just had new calling cards made with the blond hair…. I might have to sample them on a parking lot now…hahaha.)

The jacket fits you so well it would be worth restyling. I agree with Jodie that pairing it with fresh contrasting colors will give it new life. I also like the suggestion of white jeans or pants. Dark blue jeans with a favorite white shirt and accessories could also work. A single color sheath dress underneath instead of a skirt is an updated look. Bright teal or magenta, yellows, certain greens and black and white look good with purple. I would stay away from black unless it is a component of a print or trim on a brighter colored piece. Some people like red with purple but I think it is kind of dated looking. Good luck!

  Nice suggestions. I don’t own any sheath dresses anymore, but the jeans with the white shirt will work. I suddenly remembered I did that before. Also with a leopard waistcoat. Have to lose some weight though.

I adore that velvet jacket. I’d wear it with a patterned blouse with some of that colour from the jacket in the pattern in the blouse and a skinny jean and booties. You’d look like a rock star!

I think the skirt would go well with any of your solid oversized/flowy blouses that you wear. It should go with anything really and the pumps you are wearing here are great.

  I have a checked blouse with many colours, also purple, but mainly blue and pink. It looks a bit like a cowboy shirt, even though it is silk. Otherwise I don’t have any blouses that qualify.
  And thanks for the skirt suggestions. I am going to try that as soon as I have lost the extra kilos. As it is a winter skirt I have 6 months to fit in it again….

  I ‘m with Suzanne on this; I’d wear the velvet jacket on dark skinnies (as you may know I don’t like a darker top on a lighter bottom). With colorful booties or colorful heels.
  
  The skirt makes you look older, as does the whole Pauw-look.
  Ofcourse there are ways to make the skirt more acceptable and contemporary, but why bother?
  IF you want to make it more modern, try it e.g. with your Spijkers blouse (white with eyes?) and red pumps.

Your velvet jacket is beautiful! It would be such a shame not to wear it. Like the other ladies I think white jeans would be an excellent spring choice, or dark wash denim with sandals. You could also try and pair it with other jewel colours, in a dress or skirt to give it a more feminine touch. Since it’s a rich fabric and colour it’s also well suited for evening outfits – LBD?

At first glance I thought you went back to being a brunette, which is very nice indeed, but your blonde looks so great on you. And besides we blondes can have a whole lot of fun together. I actually like both your windowpane skirt and your lovely blazer, beautiful color it is. I don’t think it needs to be modernized, the outfit looks very nice as is. If you want to spruce it up for Spring time I would probably pair your skirt with a bright white blouse or a floral pint or even a white windowpane blouse or shirt sleeve sweater, now that would be fun!

  As for the hair colour… I am still thinking of going back to being a brunette, but I will probably wait until Autumn. Otherwise my hair gets too many horrible dye treatments.

I am in love with the velvet blazer, The color is rich and the fit is divine.
I would try it with white denim, or wool, it can even be eggshell.
I also love the skirt, but would like to see it with booties instead of pumps.
I think that one little change can make a big difference.
Love your saves, my favorite is the first one, tied the most elaborately. Maybe because I also love the boyfriend jeans on you, they look great!
And those funny faces…always make me smile

  If I can make you smile, I have reached my goal. The boyfriend jeans are nice, but really need heels. And I have to lose some weight to look like this again. If at all possible. I am afraid I am shrinking now and that all my organs are bulging out at the front (which is what happens to a lot of women when getting to a certain age; no weight loss will help then).
  And I am not to good in the modern footwear department, so there is a challenge.

That skirt is great right now with the windowpanes….I’d pair it with a chambray shirt or some floral to make it more casual! That jacket is such a brilliant, lovely color—I’m a sucker for white jeans, so that’s how I might wear it! jodie

  Oh good one Jodie. I have just bought creme skinnies. That might work. Although pure white would be even better. I was unable to find winter white skinnies. The ones I got are more spring.
