Flared jeans with yellow sweater

Flared jeans with yellow top (7 van 15)It is not that simple for me to style these flared jeans, although you probably think I am being difficult. They need something narrow at the waist and bum which usually doesn’t make me look good.

You have seen these flared jeans once before, with my green jacket. And I can tell you, they look awesome with this top as well. Which means I already have three outfits with these trousers and soon you will see a fourth. Not bad.

One slight difficulty: the legs are so long that I really need very high heels to go with them, which is not really comfortable. On the upside: they give me legs, legs, legs. And I am already quite fortunate in that department.

Above: Ron suggested to take photos at the harbour of IJmuiden. Harbours….. open water…. The Netherlands…. put them all together and you have WIND. I don’t like wind as I have an obsession with my hair. But beggars can’t be choosers, so off we went.

Below: you do get pretty pictures in the harbour. Nice and colourful. Ron said afterwards that the one photo he really favoured was one without me (the one below). You sometimes need to take it on the chin with this man. He means well though.Flared jeans with yellow top (15 van 15)Below: Charlie was with us as usual. And I was still dressed in my warm Max Mara coat. Seen before in the post about Shopping in AntwerpFlared jeans with yellow top (1 van 15)Below: these hard working fellows posed gladly, adding some “colour locale”.Flared jeans with yellow top (2 van 15)Below: Ron managed to get us on one of the ships to take pictures. So coat off, handbag on some rusty pipes, here we go.Flared jeans with yellow top (9 van 15)Below: ah, the top has moved so the brooch is not in the middle anymore. STYLIST? Where are you?Flared jeans with yellow top (6 van 15)Below: this is the brooch in detail. Flared jeans with yellow top (3 van 15)Below: dangerous… a loose top on a busty woman.Flared jeans with yellow top (4 van 15)Below: which is why my hands are holding the top in place. This top was on the blog before on black leather jogging trousers.Flared jeans with yellow top (10 van 15)Below: and now it is getting funny…. Up those steps wasn’t that difficult, but down…. On really high heels.. Trying…..

Flared jeans with yellow top (11 van 15)Below: no way…. no way would I arrive safely at the bottom. So boots off and walking on tights.Flared jeans with yellow top (12 van 15)Below: Ron was clicking away… he had his picture of the day.Flared jeans with yellow top (13 van 15)I hope I have been able to entertain you.

If you want outfit details, here they come: jeans: Paige, model Hidden Hills (this year), coat: Max Mara, bag: Marina Rinaldi, sweater: Kenzo, brooch: Spijkers&Spijkers, two Dutch female designers.

  1. Your comments on this one made me laugh and laugh!

    1. It did? Oh how wonderful… that is the main goal of my blog: making people laugh. I am so pleased you said this. Makes me all proud.

  2. Well, you already know how much I love these flared pants on you and I think you styled it beautifully. Great photos by Ron again!

    1. Thanks Sylvia. I tell you, with that red top (which I wore in Utrecht) and the Vancouver booties, it was also very nice. More to come. You’d think I get the hang of styling haha.

  3. gorgeous pics! even without shoes you look fabulous!
and your look fits right in in this environment of clear bright colors!
what you said about your jeans are the reasons i gave up trousers completely – to much fuss to style and all that pinching….
    xxxxx

    1. These trousers are soft and the fabric is very elastic. No pinching at all, but of course the high heels make them uncomfortable. Now there is a remedy for that: I could take the hem up, but I prefer the look of long legs. It is one or the other.

  4. I love your yellow top, so nice to see something bright amongst all the grey of winter. It looks great, especially with the long long black trousers. I am your age twin, but in everything else not, as I’m short, so I have ‘leg envy’ especially after this post. Great brooch too. Do the young wear brooches now, or is that a function of age. I’ve got lots, the more ridiculous the better 🙂 Great location shots too, clever Ron!

    1. You’d think the jeans are black, but they aren’t. Very dark blue.
As for brooches, I have loads too, but it is a fine line between “old fashioned look” and “cool modern look”. Because this brooch is modern, both in design as in material, I can use it. But my lovely costume jewellery is much harder to use.
Leg envy hah? Hard to cure.
As for locations and shoots… Ron is such a dear as he doesn’t really like this photographing much. But he is very keen on helping me.

  5. You took the wisest decision to to climb down safely the stairs and Ron shot the funniest photos!
Your colourful look is so pretty and the wide jeans suit your tall figure perfectly… very peculiar brooch!
My favourite photto is the first one!
    A kiss to Charlie …

    1. The first photo is a photo where I am not posing. I think that is the reason why you (and I) like it. Ron prefers photo which are not posed, but hey… I need to get clear shots of the outfit for you. I always hate fashion photography which is “art” and you cannot see any details.

  6. Hi Greetje, Great pictures with the boat as a background. Yellow is beautiful a color that suits you!
    Desiree

    1. I keep telling myself too that yellow is a good colour for me. But it was even better when I was still a brunette.

  7. Beautiful pictures..how cute is your dog 🙂 Love that yellow sweater and it looks beautiful on you. The Max Mara red coat is just the perfect topper for this stylish outfit.

    1. Our dog doesn’t only look cute… she is a darling in behaviour too.
As for the coat, I have to do something about the colours of my pictures as the coat isn’t red but bright fuchsia. Glad you like it.

  8. What a fun photo shoot! I think it was well worth all the trouble! 🙂

The yellow sweater looks great on you! And the red coat is gorgeous, too.

I also have flare jeans from Paige. I haven’t worn them much yet since I also need to wear very high heels with them…

    1. Oh glad you appreciate it. As I have a cold now LOL. The coat is actually fuchsia, bright fuchsia.
And those high heels with flared jeans are a bit of a problem aren’t they? Those Fluevog black and white summer booties which I bought in Vancouver are great with them. They feel very flat thanks to the big bulky heel but they are high enough. Should really find something like that for winter.

      1. Sorry about the cold… Hope you’ll feel better soon!

The coat looks red on my screen; bright fuchisa is even better!

  9. Greetje you always make me smile!
Yellow is such a hard color to wear….and you wear it very well! The placement of the brooch….genius….!
    Have the best day…..Katiexx

    1. When I was a brunette (until two years ago) yellow and orange were my favourite colours. Now that I am blond these colours are much harder to wear. But I just ignore all the signals haha. Pull a face like “doesn’t this look faaaannnntasstic on me??”

  10. You are my Sunday comedy Greetje!! And those legs….can you say leg envy? jodie
    http://www.jtouchofstyle.com

    1. I will admit, I am very fortunate in the leg department. Which is why I put all emphasis on the legs… haha. Not just a pretty face eh? And I will gladly be your Sunday comedy Jodie.

  11. Beautiful photos – You look like sunshine in the yellow sweater ! I feel like I was there with you – instead of here in bed with the flu 🙁

    1. You poor thing. I hope you feel better now. So nice to hear from you. I vividly remember our shopping/tea/coffee afternoon in Vancouver. I hope I brought you some joy.

  12. I know nothing about jeans, but flare or not you have the body to wear them all.Honest!!!
So good of Ron to get such wonderful pics. A true too life photographer, yeahhhhhhhhhhh
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

    1. I do need to be careful what I wear them with Sacramento. As my jeans can look horrible too. But most of the times jeans are good for me. I will pass your compliments on to Ron.

  13. Yet another set of beautiful photographs. It was a lovely colourful backdrop so Ron was right. Your legs look soooooo long in these jeans, Greetje. How lucky you are. The yellow and pink are both so vibrant and perfect for a dull November day – they look wonderful together.
Yes, isn’t it funny that we seems to follow the same blogs. Perhaps that means we’ve got very good taste.
    Anna x

    1. Yes I agree Anna, we have very good taste haha.
Thanks for the compliments. Ron was very pleased with the result too. He likes colour and so do I (and you too).

  14. I love the flared jeans, and the yellow sweater is perfect, the way it fits it is very flattering and I adore the vivid color on you. Love the red jacket too.

Kudos again to Ron for this great backdrop, wind and all.Again, this look very editorial, and I love that, but with your candid thrown in, it is a lot more fun.
    ove th navy bag, too.
You look great with the lovely short boots, and without! Ha!

    1. Ron was laughing away when I came down those steps. Fortunately he didn’t forget to take photos. I will pass your compliments on.

  15. Ha ha! Brilliant shot of you holding onto your booties.

I love that you and Ron really make an effort with the photos…finding interesting places to shoot. So much better than me and my backyard. That first photo of just the boatyard is quite spectacular. Composition, lines, colours…they all come together.

I love the bold colours on your top and coat here.

That brooch of they eye? BRILLIANT!!! Where did you get that? I thought it was a graphic on your tee.

    bisous
    Suzanne

    1. It is a brooch which was designed by two Dutch ladies Spijkers&Spijkers. They are twins are professionally trained. They have a very good clothes line. I will be on the look-out to see whether I can score you one, shall I? It was two years ago, but you never know.

      1. I won’t say no should you come across it in your travels again : )

  16. Beautiful pictures, and a very nice look. Any pants is precious to you, your great legs do all to be perfect. But in addition, these jeans are modern and present perfect. The yellow jersey and coat are two cuties, I love the combination with the black handkerchief. Your appearance barefoot, and your worried face, is fantastic.

    1. Anything to make you laugh…

  17. Youre humor is wonderfull! I said it before, flared jeans look amazing on you. What a joke that Ron liked the picture without you, could be a saying from my boyfriend! I het cold feet when i look at the pics of you walking down the stairs on metal stairs. Brrrrr
    http://www.fashionandfoodandotherstuff.com

    1. At least I got back down without breaking any bones. I must have looked like a cat feeling the temperature of the water haha. One foot down … no … up again. Starting with the other foot… no … up again.
And thank you for your compliment about my humor. I so like to make people laugh.

  18. The photographs are great…and the harbour is the perfect backdrop to showcase YOUR outfit!
    All of those bright colours.
However the photo without you was missing something…..hmmmm (men are so cheeky sometimes!)
You have reminded me how much i love yellow….and how little of it I have in my Winter Wardrobe!
I am now off to search for a Yellow jumper. It will have to be chunky, for me, as it is Freezing here.
Yellow is such a positive colour.

    1. You can always layer underneath it. I believe three thin layers of the right material can be warmer than one chunky sweater. Don’t ask me what the right material is then… Silk? Thermo? Sky undies? We can look it up on Google.
As for yellow… that will suit you even better, having dark hair. It did with me too (I am only blond since 2 years. Before that I was a brunette.)

  19. Gorgeous photos – as always – and such a sunny, chic outfit. Love those wide trousers. xox

    1. I am doing the best I can Patti. Those trousers are a great Vancouver reminder.

  20. In a word…fabulous! Your first photos with the matching yellow of the boat is spot on! And you’re looking very movie starish with the dark sunnies!

I finally gave me flared jeans to goodwill. I was having too much trouble styling them. And…even with heels, I don’t really have much leg line to work with. These jeans! With the yellow sweater! You’re a superhero!! Gorgeous! And I agree with the others. The placement of the brooch is whimsical and eye catching! Love to see a close up of it in another post!

    1. I can use that brooch in nearly every single oufit. Which I won’t of course.. danger of wear out. Thank you for comparing me to a movie star whahaha.
OK laughed enough. Thank you. You are too kind.

  21. You boating with your boots off, now that was funny! Hahaha….

    1. Which is exactly why I included those pictures. Anything for a laugh.

  22. First I envy you for being able to wear flared jeans. I have searched for months for a pair and I haven’t found not one. Even the ones for petites are too long for me. I guess I’ll have to buy them and have them altered. I love all the color play with your photo shoot…you and your backdrops. Love the two workers in their jumpsuits. What good sports they are 🙂

    1. The workers didn’t understand a word of my question whether we could photograph them for my blog. But you could see they rather liked their photo be taken (is this good grammar?).

  23. These pants look so great on you. I really like the yellow top with the little eye display popping out. Yellow is a good choice of colour for November weather. 🙂

    1. You are right Michele, yellow is such a sunny colour. I keep singing “you are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey, you’ll never know dear etc etc”. I am a fan of bright colours.

  28. The above ladies said it all. The jeans are great and the bright yellow top and the coat. So the only advice I can give is to go down the stairs backwards. Climbing up is no problem, so your feet are then in the same position. Take it from an expert in overcoming obstacles.

    1. I did think of going down the “stairs” backwards but as it was so steep I was afraid my heels might break.
