The three of us finally got together again…: Anke, Sabine and me. We form a group called Shopping Saturday haha. This time we decided to go to Rotterdam, to the Markthal (Market Hall) as there is only food there and no clothes or shoes. The plan was NOT to shop. Hah… doomed from the start. It became a day for Shoes and Sunglasses.
Above you see me (sloughing…I am working on that) at the Market Hall, in my new distressed boyfriend jeans (G-Star). I never had really distressed jeans and last week I bought these. Because they are so comfortable. In March I can wear them with boots like these golden ones. In spring and summer I will wear them with pumps. Because I don’t want to look completely scruffy, I combined them with a fitted purple velvet jacket. The white T-shirt is to brighten up the outfit. The pink flamingos have golden lines, which combines with the golden boots. My niece printed this shirt.
Let’s start our day.
Below: my two terrible friends. Left Anke, right Sabine. We are on the first floor of the Market Hall having lunch, which was very good. The market is on the ground floor.
Below: a photo of the Market Hall, taken from the first floor.
Below: the roof and the sides are magnificent. It really is like a giant tube.
Below: the photo bottom right, taken on the ground floor, clearly shows the tube shape of the Market Hall.
Below: Sabine waiting for me to get down from the second floor. To be honest, we were not really very impressed. We much more prefer the atmosphere of the Food Halls in Amsterdam. Remember my post?
Below: we walked back into town, to the shopping area.. (I can hear you think.. and yes you are right.. no self control whatsoever). We started at Ace+Tate, a Dutch brand for (sun)glasses where Daniela and I bought our sunglasses in 2014 (see this post). Of course we all tried some on. Anke bought the ones top left.
Below: another picture of Anke with her new glasses. I adored her jacket.
Below: Sabine looks like a movie star hiding from the paparazzi. We went in and out of a couple of shops and forgot to take pictures. But in the first shoe shop I found the patent leather pumps with pointy nose I was after. I will admit that the ones I had tried on in Utrecht were hotter. But I couldn’t walk on those, and I can very comfortably walk on the ones below. By that time (only half an hour on our way) my hair looked like wire because of the fierce wind. (Note to self: don’t talk when your picture is taken 🙄 .)
Below: me looking dead serious while paying. Calculating in my head how much that is going to set me back….Below: boyfriend trousers from the back. Considering I have such a small bottom, these jeans don’t look bad, don’t you think? The bags you see on the left are Furla… I resisted them. Not easy for a Furla- and structured bags-lover.
Below: in the next shop Anke found this fun top. Still being very young, her arms are fine of course, and she can wear such a top. NICE.
Below: time for a bit of rest in the sun. I told Anke she shouldn’t frown like that or she might have to start using botox in the future haha.
Below: we went for a drink to NRCafé at the Witte de Withstraat. Great terrace (sunny too), very good food.
Below: Sabine grabbed the camera and noticed all sorts of interesting things in the street. Like below, which was just across the street.
Below: table and lamp are different…
Below: some great murals as well.
Below: as we continued our shopping spree, the long handle of my bag got caught. In addition to a bag with shoes and camera, a heavy winter coat and my handbag, I now also had a branch to carry. Charming.
Below: we went passed the Koopgoot, an underground shopping area of Rotterdam, marked by that strange wing. This is a good picture of Rotterdam for you. After the severe bomming in Worldwar 2 they had to rebuild the town, which means a lot of high rise buildings, concreet, wide streets. Just not my cup of tea.
Below: we were wondering what these people were queuing up for…: Nike sneakers 50% off.
Below: next stop.. a department store, The Bijenkorf. Sabine needed black high heels. Like these.Below: so what did she buy and justified brilliantly (like any woman can)???? Red pumps with black spots! Completely ruining the sale bargain by also buying the matching clutch… Mind you… had the shoes been one size smaller, I would have taken these LK Bennett’s home. They are gorgeous.
Below: these boots were fun and in the sale, but we thought they drew too much attention.Below: one last “shoe awe”.. I was trying on these cute summer LK Bennett pumps. And didn’t buy them. I can be strong (when I really hit rock bottom..).
You have had a lot of photos to go through these past weeks. I promise to do a much shorter post next week.
