Elegant styling of a pencil skirt

Elegant styling of a pencil skirt

Elegant styling of a pencil skirtThis outfit is for Daniela (The Pretty Cute). Because she started following me for my ladylike dresses and the elegant styling of a pencil skirt. So no skinnies today but a (rather short) pencil skirt.

It is going to be a short post with only pictures of this outfit as I was in a real hurry. It was Wednesday afternoon when it stopped raining and I could go outside to have my pictures taken. After that rushing home to make this post as I will be away until Sunday evening.

My friend and neighbour Anja (Curly Traveller) is back in the country and she did me the honour of being my photographer. (Ron doesn’t like taking pictures in our neighbourhood. He wants interesting backgrounds.)

I decided to add some bloopers to spice things up haha. Here we go.

Below: nice shot with green background. This was in a street behind ours.Elegant styling of a pencil skirt

Below: trying to look elegant, but not really quite capturing it.Elegant styling of a pencil skirt

Below: blooper number 1..  I shouldn’t talk during a photo session. But it is very hard to shut me up.Elegant styling of a pencil skirtBelow: how about a nice picture with this yellow car? To match your shoes and belt? Even though one foot seems to be shy, the picture turned out rather well…..Elegant styling of a pencil skirt

Below: unlike the next one… blooper number 2.Blue mirror shirtBelow: some detail shots.. the yellow belt has a very smart way of closing. One of the square metal pieces is the clasp. The blue shirt with the mirrors I have worn before with a long and wide fuchsia skirt.yellow beltBelow: the yellow summer shoes have been on this blog a couple of times: with a white cardigan, with a white dress with purple dots and with a yellow summer jacket. With and without an added flap…yellow summer sandals

Below: another shot of the belt and of the plastic bracelet. Of course I am wearing my new ring.yellow bracelet and belt

Below: blooper number 4… no further comment….funny face

Below: and blooper number 5, even worse than blooper number 4.funny face

Below: Ok one nice shot…laughing face

Below: and this was fun. I discovered this handsome looking neighbour working in his garden. He didn’t mind at all to appear on my blog. Good sport.neighbour and meNow I am going to pack for a trip to my friend Pat in Geneva.

So sorry if you are one of my blogger friends and I haven’t been round to your blog… I am swamped. With nice things, but my goodness….

  1. I love this fresh colour combination.
Yellow can lift the classic navy and white into something much more fun!
I laughed at your bloopers….I also chatter on when the camera is snapping and look crazy in some shots.
I am so glad you shared.

    1. Even more than showing and sharing outfits, I like to make people laugh with my posts. So I am glad you did. ???

  2. Those yellow accessories are a perfect “icing” on the cake!! What a pretty neighborhood you live in.

    1. I have to say that the street where we took these pictures, is much nicer than our own street. Out street has no gardens and hardly any trees. But… a very good atmosphere. Neighbours know and see one another.

  3. Isn’t the weather strange at the moment! I’m glad you found some time between raindrops to photograph your smart outfit! It is very smart, and shows off your lovely legs. I do hope it gets warmer, and less changeable though….. I’m tired of storms. 🙂

    1. I live in Haarlem and we have had quite a lot of days with sunshine and good temperatures too. So I am fine.
No green trees and plants without water…. You should see our garden. It has exploded.

      1. I have an explosive garden too! But with weeds ……. And although we have had sun, we have had 3 seasons every day from hot to cold. It’s so confusing. Clothing decisions are really difficult. And now we have rain and wellies would be most suitable ?

        1. I totally agree. Yesterday was supposed to be 22 degrees… NOT… 15 degrees it became. I had cold feet all day. Today the same and more rain. Sigh.

  4. You look fabulous in the pencil skirt, and why not! Those legs! Love the styling with the yellow and navy, and despite yourself, you do look elegant and like you are having a very good time! Hello neighbor! Well done!!

    1. Wasn’t that neighbour a good sport? Thank you for the compliments.

  5. Love the yellow accessories…you just gave me an idea for this week! Thanks so much!

    1. You are of course very welcome. I hope I will be able to come over to your blog and see the result.

Your legs are already so tanned. That can’t be our dutch weather. Really looking ladylike this time. Although the mirrors on your blouse and your accessoires make it you, otherwise I have to start by adressing you with mylady. {The lady of the house speaking]. Have fun with Pat in Switserland. When you are retired I think you seriously have to start thinking about joining the cliniclowns.

    1. Whahaha… the Cliniclowns… You know they have a very tough selection procedure? You do not become a Cliniclown just because you want to. Thanks for the faith in me. And the tanned legs …. (don’t tell anybody)… just tanbed/suncouch.

  8. Yellow works so well against navy – great accessory choices! You look very chic in this outfit, and I always enjoy seeing your “outtakes” as it makes me feel better that I’m not the only person who talks during photo shoots and ends up with “weird mouth” photos 😉

    1. I like to have a lot (and I really mean A LOT) of photos to choose from as loads are useless because of a stupid face or something similar haha..

  9. This is a beautiful look with classic pieces and perfect modern accessories. I will try my own version. Wish I had your bracelet. Thanks Greetje!

    1. The bracelet was one of those things I grab just before paying for something else because “this looks like a piece I might use one day and it is inexpensive so why not take it home with me…”
And one day it is the missing link to an outfit. Just a plastic thing.

  10. The yellow accessories and shoes make this outfit so modern in my opinion!! And girl—those legs you have just take the cake!!! I’m so glad I’m not the only one that likes to wear skirts & show off my legs!!
My mom & I are always talking when we take photos—I have more of her with her mouth open than any other kind of blooper shots!! But in a way, it’s just keeping it real, right? Because in real life we are talking quite a bit, and thus that’s how others see us?!
    Happy traveling!!

    1. I am glad you think that the shoes and accessories make the outfit modern, as that is my quest. One with which I always struggle.
And yes, those faces when we talk are real life, but nobody would notice them as you don’t freeze in such a position. Which is the case with a photo. Anything to make you laugh. ??

  11. Looking fabulous Greetje. Very well styled outfit. Those bloopers are too funny! Anything to make us all laugh right? I look forward to hearing your fabulous laugh in person real soon!

    1. Indeed, anything to entertain you guys haha. Glad you like it. The shirt is made by Madame Hall (Lisa), whom you featured on your site.

  12. I like the set and the combination of colors. I love the skirt, and yellow touches are lovely. I think Dan will give its ok!

    1. I hope Dan does approve yes. I am waiting for her respons ?.

  13. Many thanks for this post! No trace of skinnies today…you look fantastic and stylish!I
I am in love with yellow at the moment and filling my closet with yellow clothings.. .
Your yellow sandals are beautiful and look comfortable. I like the block heel.
Very nice surroundings and handsome neighbours.
    Have pleasant days in Geneve!

sorry for my late comment…I am very busy at work and I have not even been able to post this week… 🙁

    1. No apologies are necessary. Going round blogs and commenting takes up a lot of time. I am going to minimize it otherwise I won’t have a normal life anymore. You see, I do try wear more skirts and dresses. Not there yet, but trying. At least you made me aware of it.

  14. Greetje, yellow is such a good colour for you and is beautifully contrasted with the strong blue. I love the bangle, shoes and the best accessory of all – that cute little car! You looked like you had great fun with your friend. Polly and I have such a laugh together and she is constantly tell me to shu’p! Despite that I too, have loads of photos where my mouth is open, and not looking terribly nice either. Hope you have a wonderful time in Geneva x
    Anna

  15. Oh Greetje, even your bloopers are adorable! I love all of the yellow (THOSE SHOES!!!) and your whole style just screams fun. You are such a darling. Maybe your handsome neighbour will appear in some future posts as well?! Enjoy Geneva, and see you around on the internet soon. xx

    1. Geneva was fun as I visited my best friend (I have two best friends whom I have known for 37 and 45 years. How lucky can you get eh?)
Glad you liked my post. I aim to entertain. Congratulations on the 40+ collaboration with the others. I say: to the barricades.

  16. Greetje, I just started reading your blog and enjoy it very much. I like seeing the whole outfit and your photos do that. The interesting backgrounds and neighborhood shots are well done. Your sense of humor is icing on the cake.

Your style fits very well with California’s Bay Area attitude.

    1. I am very pleased and flattered with your comment. Thank you so much for making the effort. My smile goes from one ear to the other. Hope I can keep you entertained.

  17. Greetje, I love your humor, and thank you for the bit of added testosterone 🙂

I like navy, white and yellow together. So summer…so nautical. Reminds me of sailing. You look great!

    1. When I think of nautical, I think of blue, white and red. Not yellow. But I agree it is the freshness of the blue with white that reminds us of water and outdoors.

    1. I had a lovely stay with my Scottish friend. We have been friends for 37 years. And although she lives far away, we just pick up where we have left of, as if there hadn’t been a break. But to tell you the truth… all this travelling, it isn’t me. Not a fan. Never have been either.
