Aleida blazer by All Saints

Aleida blazer by All Saints

Aleida blazer by All SaintsNext to my COS top (see previous post) I also bought this jacket in London. It is called the Aleida blazer by All Saints. A shop which I thought wasn’t in The Netherlands and had a good reputation. That was a mistake. Not the reputation or the Aleida blazer but the presumption the brand wasn’t available in my country. It is. Big shop in Amsterdam, Heiligeweg. Plus easy ordering online. Learned that for next time. Ordering from the UK is pretty good for us, far better than ordering from the USA (shipping and customs kill the fun in shopping). Whether that will still be this easy after Brexit is implemented…..

For this shoot Ron and I went back to Veerkwartier in Haarlem. We had done a photoshoot there before in February 2016 inside the restaurant.

Below: Charlie and I sat outside in the sunshine.

Aleida blazer by All Saints

Below: red with gold earrings. With pictures like this I always wonder why I always want very sharp photos. As the years progress I see sooo many wrinkles. With a more blurry photo that wouldn’t show. Never mind, we all grow older and for those of you who are younger: better accept it and move on to some fun than dwell upon it and be miserable. You cannot change it, that is for sure.

Below: we went around the corner. In spring and summer the dogs need to be on a leash on these grounds (playing children, brooding birds etc.). Now .. watch these heels.. They are very narrow like a stiletto heel, but with much more support. Remember these heels when we are further down this “story”.

Dog Charlie

Below: Ron: “Where is the big bag with photo equipment??”.. Me: “Back there, around the corner.” So I forget these things… sew me.

Aleida blazer by All Saints

Below: this stump brought me back to my first day at secundary school, first English lesson: “Splash goes the water. A fish, cries the boy, as he sits on the stump of a beach tree.”  I never forgot that line. And never knew what a beach tree was (I looked it up now).

Aleida blazer by All Saints

Below: time for the first serious head to toe shot. I took off my sunglasses but the light maked me squint. The jacket is actually olive green. I just cannot get that on a photo. It looks grey / brown, but NO, this jacket is GREEN. The top is cream and by Marella. You can see it clearly in this post with Daniela. I love this top. It oozes quality and has a very pretty back. The shoes are by Eijk Amsterdam. Still for sale and soft as a baby’s skin. The mini bag is from Zara.

Aleida blazer by All Saints

Below: close-up of the bag. I am very much into mini bags now. Ever since I saw them in the shop windows in London. Blogging friend Annette inspired me further by wearing a cute Zara bag (see her post: The lady of Style). I checked Zara’s site, which resulted in the acquisition of more than one mini bag. Three to be exact. I adore them even though they are not leather (which is new to me). Big advantage: they are so much more affordable than the designer ones. I don’t want to invest in them as it is only a trend. Today it is mini bags, tomorrow it is totes again. I am good.Zara bag blush pink with studsBelow: “Now, come on Charlie, be my best accessory”.

Aleida blazer by All Saints

Below: she is such a sweet dog. Ten years old now and the love of Ron’s life. OK, his wife and daughter are the loves of his life too, but eehhh.. I bet he loves the dog more haha.

Aleida blazer by All Saints

Below: Ron likes shooting through a window. See that mill (top left)? That would make a good background.

Aleida blazer by All Saints

Below: so here I am again, in a field of flowers (as in this post with the coleseed).

Aleida blazer by All Saints

Below: we tried a few spots. Heels in the grass. Remember those heels from earlier in the post?

Aleida blazer by All Saints

Below: here is better shot of the mill. We still have a few mills left. For the tourists.

Dutch mill

Below: heading back. The restaurant was quite far away from the mill and the only way to get there was across the grass.

Aleida blazer by All Saints

Below: just to show you how far it was, from where we were. Not easy on those heels but they did well.

Below: a close-up of Charlie to say goodbye for now.

  1. I love your photos! Very cute outfit! The blazer is perfect with the light top and jeans. Also really like your shoes and bag. Thanks for sharing! – Amy
    http://stylingrannymama.com/

    1. In reality the blazer is olive green. Much nicer than on these photos. The cream and olive green is even better than what you saw.

  2. Another lovely story to read after dinner at coffee! You also had amazing other White shoes didn t you? Or werd they black? With a simular heel!

    1. They other ones are soft pink ankle boots with a crocodile print. A very handy pair. Like these cream ones, they go with almost anything. Never knew blush pink was a neutral. Not very intelligent I know.

  3. You in those field of white flowers with the windmills in the background are so perfect! !!Amsterdam, city of Greetje and Ron and Charlie! I so appreciate the extra effort from all of you because these photos are SO worth it.
Your outfit is classic, neutral and very cool Greetje. The color of the jacket is so flattering and the boots sort of mimic your light hair for a nice seamless touch. You’ve inspired me to reexamine my blazer collection ; I’m liking this so much.
Whatever you have of wrinkles Greetje, those long sexy legs and svelte figure MORE than compensate! You look marvelous!

    1. Well, I love creating these posts. It is very rewarding to read that it is appreciated. Ron does it because he likes to help me. Charlie is just sniffing around haha.
Wrinkles… I have them, I can live with them. They are a fact. But thanks for the compliments (grin); much appreciated.

  4. Great look. Great photos. Great background. I love the wind mill. The studs on the bag are so unexpected. Great find.

    1. I was so pleasantly surprised when I saw the mini bags on Zara’s site. So cute!! So I now got four mini bags: lime, yellow (with two straps), a red one and the blush pink one with studs. Terrible but I loved them all.

  5. I used to have a jacket that looked different colors—in the one light it was olive green, but in other lighting it was brown! It’s the funniest thing!!
I am still oogling this purse. I don’t mind a smaller purse depending on where we are going! Besides—they are easier on my shoulders to carry them!
You really are so adventuresome, Greetje!! I put my foot down about traveling in the grass in heels—just call me a wimp!!
And what is it about men & their dogs??

    1. I forgot to say: the bag is inexpensive (€ 30) so you can take a chance.

    2. What is it about men & their dogs? I’ll tell you. Dogs will never leave them, never contradict them, worship them. All qualities they either not find in a woman or scarsely receive hahaha. Total dedication whatever you do.
And I am not adventuresome… I just follow instructions as I want pretty pictures haha. I learned from the last time to keep my temper under control as well. You are never too old to learn.

  6. This is such a great look Greetje!
    Simple and elegant…with an edge.
Those boots are always a sight for sore eyes, I covet them everytime I see them :oP.

I love what you said about ageing and accepting things.
So many women waste so much time worrying about things they can’t change and forget to enjoy themselves.
In my opinion wrinkles and lines aren’t ageing or “old” at all…. personality makes someone seem old (and that can happen at any age).

This outfit is one of those that seems ageless and would look great on any (stylish) woman.
That bag is the cherry on the cake for me!

    1. What a sweet comment Samantha. Thank you. It took me quite some time before I adopted this attitude. First you try to fight the aging process. But it became apparant pretty soon that this was “mopping up with the tap open”. I love to literally translate Dutch sayings haha. But I bet you get what it means.
I even put that little stupid video of me on IG and my wrinkles are terrible in that one. Oh well, so what.

  7. I like the jacket a whole lot more now that you told me it is olive green.

Awww….Charlie : ) Fur babies are the best.

I admire that you guys make such an effort to get interesting shots.

    bisous
    Suzanne

    1. I actually like this effort. My pictures in the garden were never that good. Too little distance, wrong light, usually the gutter of the neighbour’s kitchen above my head etc. For another post (next week?) I am posting a little video of fur baby.

  8. I have only been to All Saints once and wasn’t terribly impressed I’m afraid. Everything was SO expensive (I’ve mentioned I’m a skinflint before I believe?) and the garments were like a Model T Ford….only came in black! (and possibly grey) I thought their range was très dreary, mind you that was a few years ago. Your jacket is lovely though and looks fab with jeans and those amazing shoes.
Love Ron’s pics of you in the cow parsley.

    1. Well I only really paid attention to this jacket and nothing else and it came in three colours (grin). Perhaps the fact nothing else caught my attention is a sign??

  9. Hi Greetje, love the jacket. The long line really suits you. The shoes are great – love them, but even super comfy heels are not so good for me now. I wish they did better flats, not so old-ladyish! Glad you enjoyed shopping in London. The dog looks a sweetie! Definitely an asset. There are Art Deco statuettes of a lady plus greyhound – perhaps you could try to replicate on of these shots sometime? Your height and long legs would be perfect!

    1. Hahaha.. that is a good idea. I’ll google that lady with the greyhound and see whether I can keep Charlie in the same position for a few seconds.
The brand of my shoes has great flats too (link is in the post. It brings you to the cream boots but from there on you can browse the shop). Next week I’ll feature one of their flat shoes. I am a big fan of the brand (no sponsorship, no influence).

  10. As a die-hard pet person, I so enjoyed seeing Charlie in this photo shoot! The jacket is a lovely piece – beautiful cut and a colour that will go with many things. I like the idea of small bags, but I could only use them if I was going out at night and only needed my keys, phone, lipstick and a few dollars. My wallet alone wouldn’t fit in one of those.

    1. Mini bags.. I know… I have a little business card folder which holds my important cards and some cash. Furthermore: a comb, a lipstick, my phone, my lenses holder, keys. Oh and a large shopper for the rest haha. The mini bag is only to jazz up the outfit. And it is handy in the (large) office fow going from one department to the other. Next Sunday I will show a 40 seconds video of Charlie trying to dig out mice. No worry, we always make sure to walk on before she can find them.

  11. I love mini bags but don’t usually use them. Where could I put all my (mostly useless) stuff? I don’t think I could carry my tab either in them! You have found a very nice one at Zara…
I like dust green but, yes, there are colours which are not the same in photos…in any case, you are a good photographer and your pictures always are of a high quality!!

    1. Well, it depends on where I am going. Going to a restaurant for dinner for instance, only requires a mini bag. During the day I carry a shopper like the Obag and have my mini bag for keys, cards, phone and comb. I use it as a colour item really. Something to jazz up the outfit. And thank you very much for the compliment.

  12. I love photos with pets!! They seem to make us more human, ironically. Charlie is adorable. And so are you, Greetje, so you don’t feel left out. We don’t see your wrinkles when your personality is so wonderfully engaging.

Fantastic blazer and bags, even though I’m not much of a bag gal anymore. These are very nice. There’s an All Saints in the shopping mall in Vancouver we went to. But shipping, yes, no fun. I hope Brexit is kind in that regard.

Windmills always scared me as a kid – I was afraid people in the Netherlands would get chopped by the big blades when going in and out of their homes. Heh.

    1. Hah, that might have been a real fear, those windmills. No idea. Glad you liked my post. I treat the mini bags as a prop to jazz up an outfit.

  13. I love everything you wear.

    1. Thank you. I am very flattered.

  14. Love those heels! Nice jacket too. All Saints has some cool pieces. I have a hard time getting olive green to show up correctly in photos too.

    1. I am getting better at all sort of things: Lightroom, taking pictures, video, so why not get better at showing the right colour? I am going to make it a project ?.

  15. WOW, what BEAUTIFUL photos! I love the sunshine, I love the blazer. Your dog is adorable and I’m absolutely crazy about those shoes. I might need some like that. I’d like to buy legs like yours to go with them, please. I like Ron’s through the window shot, and you’re right, that windmill would make a super backdrop.

Oh, and it is a Beech tree, not Beach. Maybe there is a Beach tree too but Beech is a common variety of tree. Just FYI.

I like when you bring your furry friend into the blog photos! xxx

    1. Thanks for giving me the right spelling. I should have seen it when I looked it up. Probably didn’t have my contact lenses in. In the post is a link to the shoes (and thus the website). They are made of very soft leather and even though it is a “high” heel, they are so comfortable. Because of the special construction of the heel you can walk on them all day. They do shoes, pumps, boots with this heel.
Doggie will be in the next post too. After that one I suppose I have to leave her out.

  16. Nice jacket, beautiful pics. What you write makes me laugh. The older I get, the fuzzier I want my pictures to be. Sharp focus isn’t our friend!

    1. No, indeed, sharp focus is not a friend but I also want to be an example for other women to just embrase what is happening. So we have wrinkles. Does that mean we have a less fulfilled life? Less love or laughter? No it doesn’t and those are the things that matter. (Says she who is obsessed with clothes and outfits haha.)

  17. I love every piece you wearing ! The olive jacket is fabulous. I love the all saints brand. The zara bag is so stylish –
It caught my eye right away. The zara merchandise is so much more fashion forward in Europe than in the U.S., but it is good here too.
I have mixed feelings about vegan bags , I do like that there is no animal cruelty but I think they are not good for the earth because of the petrochemicals they are made of and they do not degrade naturally, and leach toxins into the landfill . I am not sure that the public knows this. But i have bought vegan jackets, so I am also guilty of this. One can’t be perfect.

Anyway the bag is amazing looking and I am glad, all in all , that you have it and commend you on your good eye to find it.
Your outfit is super. And as always you look like a model with those perfect legs.
    Love the post backgrounds too.
I can’t see the shoes on my phone and my IPad is not connecting. I wish I could see them. I will get back to you About them .but I suspect I will love them as I do love their color and your taste.

    I am away

    1. Actually, the spelling is perfect! You have seen these shoes before. They are one of my favourites. So comfortable and soft. I get your vegan problem but as you say, the good part about it is that there is no animal killed for it. As you and I know, it is a bloody difficult subject. Because often we don’t know enough. Even when we think we are buying the right thing, it can turn out that it has been shipped so many times that it leaves a huge footprint. We try though.

      1. I am home now – And I can a finally see and read the post properly. I love the shoes, I knew I would. I also love the color of the jacket, it reads a perfect olive green on my screen.
I can see the details of the bag, so cute.

I don’t mind sharp focus, but I hate when the full sun casts shadows on my face!

I should check out all saints again, I Do love their designs.

  18. Lovely blazer. All saints have some very good stuff.

    1. One of my readers (Fiona) wasn’t too impressed by their stock a couple of years ago. I just went there because of a vague memory. Some garment I liked and it came from All Saints. The stuff in the shop looked very casual, but I was concentrated on this jacket and didn’t pay much attention.

  19. Beautiful photoshoot and the perfect outfit for this occasion!

    1. We are getting better aren’t we? And as long as I hold my temper, the atmosphere is good too haha.

  20. Also love the shoes ….. and of course the dog!

    1. The dog is the best accessory for a blogger haha. Always gets the sympathy of everybody.
