We, the Shopping Saturday girlfriends, hadn’t seen each other for quite a while. Holidays and work got in way, so we decided to change our outing to Shopping Sunday in Amsterdam. In the Nine Streets to be precise. Still one of the loviest areas of Amsterdam. I already wrote two posts on this area in 2013, here and here. And also one in 2016. Some shops have disappeared over the years, others are there to stay and new shops join.
We didn’t have much time and in the Nine Streets the shops are open on a Sunday from 12 o’clock. So we gathered for coffee at 11.
Below: Big news: Anke is pregnant! She is 6 months in her pregnancy in this photo and she carries beautifully.
Below: Sabine in fashionable comfy trousers.
Below: Here we go. Walking along one of the Amsterdam canals.
Below: Pretty picture again. In this post I have limited my Amsterdam canal pictures to one. (The water isn’t as dirty as it looks in this picture.)
Below: Shoes… always a big attraction. Sabine didn’t buy them but was very tempted. The strap was too short for comfort.
Below: And neither did Anke buy these sandals (also at Hester van Eeghen, Hartenstraat 1). Anke will walk on flat shoes for another three months at least.
Below: I hardly bought anything that day. Only a small blue second hand top (for underneath a shirt) for € 19. Oh and a linen bag for € 15. But I had bought this colourful chunky necklace in the sale at Essentiel the day before… The cream top is by Max Mara. See the fun slit at the back in this post.
Below: A lovely dressed woman in the Hartenstraat. Is she over 40? Hard to tell with sunglasses.
Below: Another well dressed woman joined her. She is definitely over 40. Very fashionable with her sneakers (all the rage in The Netherlands). And I like her dress.
Below: This woman caught my attention. Of course, well dressed AND a hat AND good looking. But I was a little late with my camera. Still.. got her.
Below: At Hartenstraat 8 is Essentiel, my financial deathtrap. You can buy online too. Anke found these sneakers in the sale.
Below: They look good on her!!
Below: Sabine found a fantastic pair of white trousers. With a “side line”. By the way.. that yellow mini bag with the colourful strap? That’s mine from Zara.
Below: Am I? Shall I? Yes, she did and I saw her wear it with a little orange jacket and gold sandals and belt and it was perfect.
A series of four photos, all with this yellow Japanese-like shirt. I had seen it in the shop on a petite woman. Which means IT WILL PROBABLY NOT SUIT ME!! When will I learn?
Below: For starters, it gaps a little at the bosom.
Below: Oh gosh, my bosom makes me look pregnant too. And the length of the shirt cuts me in two halves.
Below: What if I tuck it in?
Below: Nah… just not for me. Pity… I really liked it.
Below: Sabine was thinking of winter with this cardigan. But it didn’t make it to the cashier.
Below: Next shop on the list was Sky, Herengracht 228, where Sabine found this fab dress. Gets her lots of compliments. She wears it with cowboy boots for instance.
Below: She also tried these sandals but didn’t like them. I thought they were great!
Below: The girls scored very well in a second hand shop called Spiegelbeeld (Mirror image), Huidenstraat 24. This dress was made for Sabine’s figure. I tried a similar one on and deleted the photos (disaster).
Below: She loves trying on hats.
Below: Anke bought these soft sneakers. Second hand but never worn.
Below: Then they decided maxi dresses would do well in summer. They came home with them. The prices in the second hand shop are low.
Below: I did try this black and white number but decided it wasn’t good enough.
Below: Also tried these trousers, but they were just a little too short for my taste.
Below: In search of a white jacket (both Sabine and me) we went into Amatør, Huidenstraat 26. Yes, this was a good jacket.
Below: So I tried it on as well (bigger size…) and it is too straight for me. Being taller and lacking the small waist and the nice hips of Sabine, I thought the jacket was too masculine for me.
Below: Sabine in the same jacket as the white one, but now in pink with matching trousers. She hesitated, but I convinced her that the white one was more practical. The orange jacket I am wearing was more tailored but my bosom didn’t fit the jacket. The lapels didn’t sit right but gapped. No jacket for me.
Below: A tradition.. a photo of the three of us having drinks on a terrace before heading home.
Next week my week’s holiday, spent with a different girlfriend every day.
