Wearing a red Sportmax dress to Marianne’s 70th birthday

Red Sportmax dressThat wasn’t easy.. choosing what to wear to Marianne’s 70th birthday party. Of course I wanted to look my best without outstaging the birthday girl. With the restriction that I had to style an outfit with flat shoes. So I opted for the black sneakers again (like last week) and worked my way up. Chose a pair of 7/8 trousers as I knew I had to show some flesh (not bare, mind you, it was too cold for that; silly fashion these days to wear sneakers with bare feet IN WINTER). Last I pulled this red Sportmax dress out of the closet. Not as flashy as I would have wanted but I liked it enough.  View Post

Winter styling of an autumn dress

Winter styling of an autumn dressWhen I bought this dress, it was supposed to be for autumn. Which struck me as strange. It is very lightweight and I get cold very easily. I therefore tried it on in summer (don’t you love wearing your new purchases as soon as possible? I do). It was evidently too warm. So I wore it in September and October with sheer hold-ups plus pumps and with a pair of 3/4 trousers plus sneakers (see this post from Paris). In November I got cold. And I tried my hand at what so many women do: I styled the dress for winter. Not my normal thing as I am a lucky so and so, I have a big wardrobe, with clothes for every season.  View Post

Finding a new swim suit in spring

Bathing suit 1MSpring is here again and many of us will go to the stores with a dangerous purpose: finding a swim suit. With our white bodies in these dreadful fitting rooms. Being over 40 makes matters worse.

The text you are about to read is a fun article which was sent to me by a friend. I have no idea who wrote it but it killed me laughing. I have published it twice before, but because it is so hilarious, I am posting it again. For those faithful readers who have read it before, sorry… but I hope it will make you laugh once more. Illustrations were kindly made by Anja (see her travel blog Curly Traveller). View Post

Behind the scenes of a photo shoot

Behind the scenes of a photo shootOh guys, this was fun !!! Not only did I get the chance to take pictures behind the scenes of a photo shoot, I was in the photo shoot myself. I love these kind of things but I was never asked as a model. Probably because I haven’t got a face or body according to the golden ratio. Great joy when in December I found the invitation in my mail: “Would you like to participate in a photo shoot for spring fashion in a women’s magazine?” (For the Dutch: the magazine is Margriet.) Of course I would! No problem, just say where and when. The stylist (Inge Holkenborg) who arranged this (in the orange cardigan photo above), had no idea who suggested me to the magazine. When I received all the details I was pleasantly surprised to see that my friend Misja was one of the other models (see Misja’s street style blog). I assumed she had put my name forward but no, she didn’t even know I was going to be there. View Post
