It doesn’t happen often, but we were able to arrange a mini bloggers get-together in Haarlem. Misja (MisjaB), Anja (Curly Traveller) and I live in Haarlem and Sylvia (40+Style), although Singapore based, almost always spends some time in Haarlem in the summer. We all know each other and we all have a blog (well.. Sylvia’s blog is a website to be honest). It is not all about fashion and outfits in our conversations but as you can understand the subject does come up.
The rest of the conversation is about our lives, our loves and our challenges. We try to minimize the subject health. As you grow older, your body starts to disfunction more easily and before you know it, it is all you talk about.
We decided to get together for.. (you guessed it) .. lunch. This time in “Papa’s Beach House” in Hoofddorp, a place near Haarlem as Misja wanted to make a few photos of a second hand shop in Hoofddorp. “What was that? Second hand shop??? Sounds lovely. Why don’t we accompany you Misja?”
Below: Papa’s Beach House, we really liked the decoration of the place. I will show you some more photos later on.
Below: Here we go: Sylvia and Misja.
Below: And Anja and me.
Below: The restaurant has a terrace overlooking a small lake. That little round wicker bag on the table is Misja’s. Very fashionable.
Below: I started taking some pictures of the restaurant.
Below: See the moose? I hate hunting and stuffed animals, but will admit it looks impressive. Mixed feelings.
Of course, soon enough we started taking blog pictures of outfits. That’s what we do.
Below: Anja, always colourful.
Below: Me, wearing all black but lightweight clothes as it was hot. The sandals are a couple of years old but I hardly wear them. Silk top: Theory. 7/8 cigarette trousers: Marella. Sandals: Dune. Necklace: &OtherStories.
Below: My black outfit was a nice canvas for Misja’s colourful outfit. She is good at combining many different colours and prints. She inspires me. My 4 colours in 1 outfit of last week came about because I looked at Misja’s outfits.
Below: Misja’s shoes in close-up. They are by Jan Janssen, a famous Dutch shoe designer.
Below: One last shot of Anja before we left the restaurant to take pictures outside.
We found a “parked” bike. Misja and Sylvia decided it was the perfect prop.
Below: A good shot of Sylvia and what she was wearing. Of course very well styled.
Below: Shot of the back. Notice the cute Hester van Eeghen bag she is wearing. She bought it last year when we were shopping in the 9 Streets of Amsterdam.
Below: I was equally proud of this shot of Misja.
Below: A few photos of Sylvia teaching me a thing or two.
Below: She must have been talking about angles or so..
Below: You can see by my face I am not very confident that I can bring the learned lessons into practice. Sylvia looks doubtful as well 😂.
Below: Here we go. If you think why is she squinting her eyes like that? That is because I have contact lenses with a reading section at the bottom. I have to look through the bottom part of my lenses if I want to see up close.
Looking at this photo I remember the reason why I don’t like to wear the sandals: they make my feet long, like the snout of Alf (remember this TV character?) I know, I know, it is all just in my head.
Below: Then they decided to photograph my shoes. Simultaneously. Misja told me to lift the back of one foot (more elegant).
Below: I was being funny here.. “Yay baby, bring it on. I am the queen” hahaha. I felt very in demand with two people at my feet. Misja looks as if to say: “Cool it!”
Below: The result: a close-up of my sandals. No too “snouty”.
Below: With the blog photos done, we went on to the second hand shop: Today’s Vintage. Really nice second hand, high end stuff. I loved a green top with a high collar and large sequinces, but the sleeves were too short to hide my wrinkled arms. Such a shame.
Below: Misja with one of the owners. Who is not going to love me for taking this picture of her while she was pulling a face (sorry Gaby).
Below: Sylvia saw a nice top which was way too big for her. Would have fitted me, only the sleeves and colours were wrong for me.
Below: Misja with the other shop owner Anouk, deliberating over a jacket. Misja came away with a fantastic brown dress and several great necklaces. Don’t know how she does it, but she always finds the best stuff in second hand stores.
Below: I resisted these Dolce & Gabbana shoes because I know they will be hard to combine for me. But they were lovely and my size. In the end I bought a pair of black leather sneakers with cut out flowers on them. You will see them as soon as the temperatures drop again. Which, I hope, will not be soon.
Below: And to the pay desk.
Yet another wonderful day in the life of style bloggers. Strictly speaking, Anja is a travel blogger, but she has a high interest in clothes. There are little photos of her that day as she was not feeling 100% and kept in the background.
