Red and blue shirt and the change in my teeth

Red and blue shirtTo be honest, I don’t know whether this is a red and blue shirt or a red and black shirt. To me it is blue as my blue trousers suit the shirt so well heh heh. The trousers are from the Max Mara outlet stash. I bought 6 pairs of trousers there: 2 blue, 2 black and 2 green. Greedy right? Over the top. Why? The price was low and the quality is soo good, they will last me for years.

The day was sunny and there was hardly any wind. Admittedly, it was cold if you weren’t standing in the sun, but that is the life of a “model” for you. There will be plenty of days to come with rain and snow and shoddy indoor photos. Kitty and I chose the estate Beeckestijn for backgrounds this time. There are quite a few posts on my blog with photos taken at this estate, but who would remember? We used to walk our previous dog Charlie here a lot, but now the dogs have to be on the leash, so no option for Dr. Watson our current dog.

Below: Arriving through the gates, this cute house is on the left.

Beeckestijn

Below: And right in front of us, is the main building. I wouldn’t mind living there.

Beeckestijn

Below: To the right is a building which is turned into a restaurant: Brasserie Beeckestijn. Of course we went there for coffee and lunch after the photo shoot.

Beeckestijn

Below: This is the back, the other side of the main building. You see me, still in my coat, changing into other shoes for the shoot.

Below: Wearing a white heat tech shirt by Uniqlo underneath the shirt. The pearl necklace is from years ago, a purchase from a friend of a colleague.

Red and blue shirt

Below: I love that the back is longer than the front. So much the rage these days and perfect for my figure. The brand of the shirt is French Connection. This photo was taken in the lane coming up to the main house. There are beautiful statues on either side.

Red and blue shirt

Below: Two of the statues. Holding my blue bag, a gift from Marianne (seen before in this post with my bright pink trousers).

Below: The autumn colours with sun coming through the trees…. so beautiful.

Red and blue shirt

Below: The belt, knotted at the back, is stopping the wind from picking up the shirt.

Red and blue shirt

Below: Kitty made me stand here because of the grand autumn colours. Hmm… yellow leaves and yellow hair…

Red and blue shirt

Below: Picked up a few leaves with my heel. I seem to do that more often. The boots are by Essentiel Antwerp and my knee can handle them for a little while now. The knee is getting better but soooo slowly. At this pace it will take another year but I am a lot better than last year so you won’t hear me complain.

off-white boots

Below: A razor sharp photo showing my age haha.

Red and blue shirt

Below: I changed shoes and bag but I have to say I like the outfit better with the boots. With these heels the outfit becomes too classic for my taste.

Red and blue shirt

Below: Let’s go to the restaurant (behind me) and have a coffee. I am cold!

Red and blue shirt

Below: We did one more “stop”. Beeckestijn has several historical gardens, with flowers and herbs amongst others. The one we visited has two snake-shaped walls which retain the warmth of the sun. There are 8 of these walls in the Netherlands and two of them are on Beeckestijn. They used to grow peaches and apricots and other exotic fruit in this garden. It says on the sign that a fellow called Jacob Boreel once had peaches shipped from his garden to a dinner in London. We do these sort of unsustainable things all the time nowadays.

Below: Couldn’t resist the access gate to the garden.

Below: Me in the restaurant laughing because they made reservations for “Gtje” and my name is “Greetje”. Oh well. (The sign says: “Welcome Gtje and guest”.)

What happened in my life this week

Saturday: Anja is back in town. YAY. We had a good talk exchanging news. In the evening Ron and I had dinner with our friends Froukje and Petro. Petro cooked a lovely dinner.

Sunday was my day of leisure. Ron did phone me at half past 10 asking me to come to the beach as the weather was so soft and warm. I joined him (and dog Watson) for a coffee and apple pie on the beach terrace. Refrained from taking another picture of sparrows on the table picking the crumbs. Rest of the day ironing, clearing stuff away and such.

Monday: picked up the night retainers for my teeth. Below you can see my teeth before (top photo) and after the braces (photo below). It is a bit of a scary picture as the photos are so close up. I have plastic things in my mouth for keeping my mouth wide open. The colour seems different but that is just the photo, they weren’t bleached while I had the braces. I am pretty pleased with the result. The teeth weren’t too bad to start with, but they were gradually getting more crooked.

Tuesday: just work, nothing else. My successor said yes to the offer my company made and she will start per the first of January. I know her and she is brilliant and nice, it will be a pleasure to break her in.

Wednesday: lunch with my friend Yvonne at the beach. We hadn’t seen each other for so long, it is a shame. There was so much to talk about that I totally forgot to take a photo for you. So sorry. If you want to know what Yvonne looks like, you have to click this link.

Thursday: just work again. Some pretty heavy meetings.

Friday: and again just work.

I wanted to make this section of my blog lively and fun, but when your days are uneventful, there isn’t much to tell. To brighten things up a bit and by request of Lisa The Sequinist, here is photo of our dog (Dr) Watson, who is still very lively and very sweet. He got very high marks for his puber (=adolescent) examination. The marks you can score range from 1 (bad) to 10 (excellent, like an A+). Both master and dog did super well as you can see below.

  1. Congratulations on (Dr.) Watson’s excellent report card! That is a lovely location for a photo shoot. Shelley

    1. He did well didn’t he? Good old Watson. The Beeckestijn estate is very well kept.

  2. lovely outfit, I love particularly your shirt’s back, those details are so cute!. And I also prefer this outfit with your white boots, they’re really cool and modern. Looking fabulous (as usual!)
And I totally love that you made the effort of look for such magnificent place to take pictures. Thanks for these autumn colors pics!, so beautiful!
    besos

    1. You are most welcome. As I said in my previous comment, my goal with blogging is to entertain.

  3. I know what you mean about this shade of blue Greetje. I have a pair of trousers that can look either blue or black depending on what I put with them. I suppose that’s a good thing? The location here is superb, another beautiful and interesting place to visit. It must be fun doing these shoots with a friend, I’m getting pretty bored shooting myself these days😉 It’s always rushed and with nobody to help I usually end up with half of the photos out of focus!
Winter is much harder of course because by the time I set up the camera, jump in front to “pose” I’m frozen to the bone! Come over and help will you?
    I wish💫

    1. I wish so too. That would be so great.
It is about 2-4 degrees Celcius here at the moment. Not too bad when the sun is out and you are wearing thermal undergarments haha.
Have you tried setting up the camera with your coat on and only taking the coat off when everything is set? 😂😂😉. I know what you are saying now and that is not nice 😂😂😎.

  4. A fabulous outfit Greetje and you look so relaxed. Are you getting used to the idea of not going to the office yet? I’m not sure I’ve ever been to this estate. You should take me some time in the summer.
Very impressed with the report card for Ron and Watson! And your teeth have improved so much!

    1. No, I am not relaxed by the idea of not going to the office anymore in 4 months. I have very mixed feelings about that. I am actually already beginning to look for a new job, but with less hours/days/stress. I won’t be asking a lot of money as money is no goal anymore.
I will take you to Beeckestijn for sure when you are here.

      1. I wish you’d start a swap club.

        1. My mother always said: “when two people swap, one is crying”. It sounds a lot better in Dutch as it rhymes.

  5. As always I enjoy the fabulous photos of your countryside and of course the clothes and you. I so want to visit your country. Here in California it is beautiful but your country seems to have pretty little restaurants, towns and shopping! Each Sunday I want to go to Holland. Thank you

    1. I should be rewarded by the Netherlands for attracting tourism haha. Unfortunately there are already too many tourists and we are trying to cope with the “flood”.
When you read my posts, nothing is inventated or fake, but I do choose to show the nicest spots over the boring or horrible places. Never forget that. It is not all pretty, pretty here. For me Italy is a country where everything is beautiful (including the weather). But that is knocking my own country. Of course we have beautiful things too.

You have just miles of legs in this outfit, Greetje! I adore those boots – it’s a good thing there are no Essentiel Antwerp stores here! Lovely location.

Wow, your teeth look fantastic! Congratulations! And good work to Ron and Watson on passing the training with flying colours!

    1. Making my legs look even longer than they are is a sport Sheila (grin). It will still take a while before I can really walk on these fab boots, but I am getting there.

  7. This is a great outfit on you, especially with the boots. Are these your most worn boots?

I spotted a black pug at the park! Awe…

    Bravo to Watson!

    1. Yes I spotted the black pug through the window of the restaurant.
No these are my least worn boots. Not because I wouldn’t want to wear them more (I do, I do) but because they are so high and my knee cannot handle them for a longer time yet. Getting there though.

  8. This blouse makes you look so slim and tall. Isn’t it amazing that heels always collect leaves. I had already forgotten that there are still some leaves on the trees in Europe in November. Great photos. The “new” teeth look great.

    1. The leaves are falling rapidly. Loes and I went to this estate a week later and most of the leaves were gone. Thanks for the compliments.

  9. I love the white boots with that outfit! They really make it pop. (I really need to wear mine more often…) That’s such a beautiful location and the light is really good (envy, envy!). Nice to see Dr. Watson doing so well in “school.”

    1. I need to wear mine full stop. As the heel is soo high, my knee hasn’t been able to manage that properly yet. We had a perfect photo shoot day indeed.
