The first day I got these baggy jeans which you saw before (link to original post with the orange boots), I styled them multiple times, tucked into these pink boots by EIJK. And I really liked the look. It wasn’t my idea, I copied it from Daphne, the owner of LAB Women’s Clothing. Then, when I started to wear them like this, I found out how often the jeans slipped out of the boots when I sat down and got up again. I was so peeved.
But, when I am a bit careful, I can wear the outfit like this. OK, I do have to fuss a couple of times, tucking the legs back in and perhaps people will trip over my stretched-out legs as I don’t want to bend them too much, but those are minor things. I especially love the red and white striped jacket with the baggy jeans.
Ron took me to the dunes for the photo shoot. I was a bit afraid of sinking into mud or sand with my boots. Or standing in a windy corner, but none of these things happened.
Below: This is what he found on one of his walks with dog Watson. Graffiti on the wall of an old bunker.
Below: A lime green cartoon is looking at me.
Below: And a gnome.
Below: Watson was with us, sniffing, running, digging.
Below: Ron climbed up a slippery slope to take a photo from above. All in his attempts to please me, bless him.
Below: A different angle is fun. Ron has the eye of a photographer. I think this shot is magazine worthy.
Below: Peek-a-boo.
Below: Looking frolicsome. The red and white striped jacket is an old one from kpa.haarlem. (First appearance on the blog in this post in 2020.)
The Dries van Noten bag is getting increasingly more attention from me now that I am wearing jeans so much. It is always perfect.
Below: Close-up with red and pink earrings by Lara Design. And a matching nose because of the low temperatures.
Below: After taking the photos we walked with Watson to a pond. And this is how I looked in reality. With sensible boots and a simple raincoat.
Below: End of the day, the birds are meeting in the trees to inform each other about their daily adventures.
Below: And Watson was happy as he ‘caught’ a stick. Four feet off the ground.
What happened in my life this week
Saturday meant going to the cobbler just before visiting Marianne. She had delicious pastries with the coffee. Marianna and Marijke joined too. The other two BVA girls were absent for different reasons. Marianna preferred not to have her picture taken.
Below: Marianne, stylish as always with new beautiful boots.
Below: Marijke, jeans with a blazer and pattern mixing.
Below: With my wide Denham jeans (so comfortable), a multi-coloured jumper and orange patent leather booties. I decided not to use this outfit for an entire blog post. There are so many blazers, shirts and jumpers that I can wear with these jeans, it would mean you’d see them so much that you’d get sick of them.
Sunday was a quiet day and I wore this outfit (below). Link to original post.
Monday, mechanic number two came to fix the signal of the fibre optic cable and on Thursday mechanic number three installed everything. We now have fibre optic cable, which means very fast internet. Yay.
I had a battle, reprogramming the Resideo thermostat. The helpdesk of Resideo was a shambles, I rang twice and twice the woman hung up on me after not knowing a thing and reading out the manual, which I have myself. Anyway, I got it working again. I hope geofencing is working again as well as it saves energy when an automatic system let the house temperature drop to night values when we are both away.
Tuesday was an off-day. The dentist removed my molar implant. Quite a surgical affair and it left me on the couch all day, something I didn’t expect. I had planned to do my fitness in the afternoon. Instead I had to hold a coldpack against my face for 5 (FIVE) hours. I will spare you the details. Didn’t sleep too well that night, but on Wednesday everything was hunky dory again. Of course I have to be careful for at least a week and take good care of my mouth, but that’s easy. I am glad it is removed, the inflammations were eating at my jawbone.
Wednesday, I felt well enough to go to the hairdresser.
While I was away, Ron welcomed the electrician to fix the lamp over our table. I like it when a plan comes together (quoting the A-team).
Late afternoon Ron came back with Watson being trimmed. He is now a skinny, smooth-haired dog. We don’t really like it, but when his coat starts shedding, it is murder to keep the house clean. Strangely enough we never had this with our previous dog Charlie, who was the same breed. She hardly shed a hair.
Thursday, after the mechanic had gone, I did my fitness exercises (finally). In the afternoon Loes came for a cup of tea.
Below: I wore this as I was home most of the day. These trousers and the sweater feel like wearing PJ’s. So comfortable. So I wore flat boots with it. (Link to original post.)
I don’t own a nice ‘lounge set’, you know, a legging/jogging trousers with a big sweatshirt, stuff you can put on at home and still look nice. Something like Juicy Couture but without the glitter letters (brrrr…) and with a longer hoodie. So I think I will downgrade this above outfit to loungewear as I hardly wear it out.
The weather is cold and wet, sometimes with hailstones, sometimes with a little bit of snow. Not weather that tempts you to go outside. I am cocooning.
Friday we looked after granddaughter Zoë.
Greetje
I’m working backwards, so I saw that your stitches were coming out before this post about your molar removal. Ugh. Poor you. I’m glad that you are recovering.
I like the jeans with the red raincoat. Nice combination.
I like the baggy jeans with striped sweater combination (having just seen them with the blue blouse in your more recent post). Also, the jeans and striped sweater look great with the colors of the couch and pillows. What a pretty place.
The whole dentist and molar removing wasn’t bad at all. I am glad there is no inflammation in my mouth any longer.
I was blending in nicely at Marianne’s place, wasn’t I? She likes colour in her house like Ron and I do in our house.
Ron does indeed have a good eye, and I really like the photos taken from the high angle. Love the jeans, and the red raincoat too!
Earlier this year I had an upper molar pulled that kept getting abcessed. I decided against having another implant, and don’t regret that decision!
Ron is a good cook and a good photographer. I am a lucky woman LOL.
I am fine with the loss of my molar too. It doesn’t affect me.
Ron’s photos are excellent! I would be mad with annoyance if my pants cuffs kept popping out of my boots like that – this is why stirrup pants were invented!
I love seeing your beautiful friends. Glad your tooth issue is over – do you have to have a new implant to replace the old infected one?
I also downgrade my “good” clothes to lounging clothes, but I highly recommend a cozy velour hoodie/pants for around the house (no glitter!).
Ron is indeed a creative photographer. I attached an elastic on the jeans legs to create stirrup trousers. It worked but I was worried the knees would become a permanent feature in the jeans and took it off again. Luckily I have more options than the pink booties.
No, I cannot have another implant for the removed molar. My jaw bone at that spot is too brittle. I cannot even have an operation to create new bone at that spot. It is no big issue as it is right at the back of my mouth. It lasted at least 20 years, which is something I am grateful for.
I would love to find a cozy velour hoodie with trousers. So far I haven’t been able to find anything I like/that suits me.
Well done to Ron with his photography skills! Some lovely outfits again. 🙂
A creative eye in photography can make a photo so much more interesting.
Loved your multi-colore sweater!
Yes, that is a good one which I already own for a couple of years. Actually, it was a gift from Ron, together with a pair of summer trousers and a bag. He is good to me.
Made me smile to think of you sitting carefully with your legs straight…
I like the zigzag jumper with the wide jeans and orange boots. I don’t think I’d get bored of hearing about combos you come up with.
Your use of colour has me thinking that I’m making a mistake leaning too hard into neutrals and solids..
Xx
Well, you will get to see a lot more combos as that’s all I’ve got now. And it isn’t easy for me.
I “had my colours done” about 15 years ago so I know what suits me and what not. Sometimes I don’t care but usually I bear them in mind.
So I don’t know whether neutrals and solids are wrong for you. Or right. Otherwise venture into some colour with a scarf, a necklace or a top from a thriftshop. It will minimise the risk.
I really like your rain jacket! I know, more realistic for the weather, but it suits you well and is my favourite red I go to… geranium. Here’s a thought…would it look silly if you just capitulated and rolled your pant leg up , once or twice , to sit just at the top of your boot? Your legs are long enough, Greetje.
I do like that striped jacket, and Ron took some excellent shots of you. Are the dunes just along where the beach and the sea you visit begins? Don’t you love birdie conversations! Here, towards the end of the day, several flocks of noisy Canada geese fly over in formation , all honking away ,as they head towards the beaches close by. Just makes me stop and enjoy the sight. A very joyful Autumn sight.
Still waiting for my dental appointment…not moved forward from early December unfortunately , since no one has cancelled. Shall have a wee nap afterwards, because several of us are off on a mini bus at 4:00 to see Christmas 🎄 lights in a nearby town and enjoy a pub dinner. Fortunately , my work is a crown prep and filling on two teeth….so can still eat… carefully . Keep warm & dry. We keep having wind and rain here , rolling in off the Pacific… on repeat.
I do turn up my trousers legs sometimes and when I wore skinnies it even was my preferred look. Now that the jeans are wider I sometimes feel like a hillbilly. Especially since I bought ‘cowboy boots’ which haven’t been on the blog yet.
And yes, the dunes are right along the beach, to stop the sea when that gets high and rolls in.
Good luck with your dental appointment. I was lucky that I was in the dentists practice when somebody cancelled a long appointment 1 1/2 week later. He gave that slot to me.
Weather is strange here. 3 degrees Celsius one day and 15 the next. Sometimes snow and sometimes sunshine.
As always, I love your “‘fits”! Jeans are my own favorite, and my favorite on you. A polished jeans outfit is hard to beat. You do it splendidly! Ron is a great photographer – I think it is because of his subject! Have a great week!
Hahaha, no, I don’t think Ron is a great photographer because of his subject. You should here us squablling during photo shoots. Although this time it went smoothly. Not a word out of place. He just has the (creative) eye.
You know, I have never had luck trying the look of jeans tucked in boots. I just don’t have the knack. I do like your red striped top. Too bad about the graffiti on the bunker. Not a fan of graffiti. Glad you got to spend time with friends and the photos Ron took of you at the bunker are clever. Good job, Ron.
p.s. Love Marianne’s boots.
I have this lack of knack with scarves. The graffiti isn’t my favourite either, but now that it was there, I am opportunist enough to use it.
If I cannot spend time with friends I don’t feel good. I need my friends as I need air.
Ron is indeed good, very creative.
I’ll tell Marianne you love her boots.
This is a random comment after so many great fashion/friend photos, but you’re the third person I’ve heard in the last month say they had to have their dental implant removed due to bone issues. I then read that metal allergies are far more common than advertised. It makes me concerned.
Well, the implant removal might also have something to do with age? I had the molar for at least 20 years and everything was fine. Until 2023, when my gum started to inflame. I don’t think it was a metal allergy, hardly any metal was used. But I can only speak for myself. I have friends with many implants who are doing fine. Just put it down to coincidence. In advertising we used to call this phenomenon “selective perception” with is a bit of a stupid phrase as a perception is always selective. It is the thing that when you are in the process of buying a red car, all of a sudden you see so many red cars.
I love your barrel jeans. Aren’t they the most comfortable thing you ever put on? It’s hard to go back to regular after you wear those.
Ron’s artistic eye behind the camera is always evident.
Suzanne
I love barrel jeans too but I’d say my mid-rise G-Star Raw boyfriend jeans were my most comfortable jeans ever and I could wear anything with them and it would look nice. Skinny jeans, wide jeans and barrel jeans take more work to style, but hey, I am retired, time enough.
Ron had indeed an artistic eye.
Ron is a great photographer. Those pictures from above are exactly what you said—Magazine-Worthy. Thank you for the blog; I had a good chuckle.
Thank you for your kind words, especially for telling me you had a good chuckle. That’s what I want to achieve.
