Marjolein and I were all geared up for a sunny day in Delft to photograph my green and cream houndstooth blazer and also visit the beautiful art works at House of Delft. Tough luck. It rained or drizzled and the art works at House of Delft were still under construction.
Never mind, Delft is a pretty city, there were plenty of nice backgrounds to use. Usually, it does not rain all day in the Netherlands.
Below: Straight out of the parking we saw this quaint little house.

Below: We used the pretty door for the first photo. My green and cream houndstooth blazer is a couple of years old and bought at ME+EM, a shop I adore. It is a good thing they don’t have a shop in the Netherlands or I would be bankrupt. High quality, modern clothes for a premium price. The price is worth it though. I previously featured this blazer here, here and here.

Below: We walked through a little tunnel with a colourful mural.

Below: As it started to rain, we decided to have cappuccino first and wait out the sun at Stads Koffyhuis, a terrific find by Marjolein. This is part of the restaurant’s interior.

Below: Marjolein discovered an old sideboard in a back room.

Below: I loved the WC with the somewhat crude Delft blue tiling work.

Below: Look at that tap in the shape of a tulip. Fun.

Below: Marjolein enjoying a perfect cappuccino in her country & western shirt.

Below: View from Stads Koffyhuis.

The sun didn’t show itself, but at least it was (sort of) dry, so we headed out.
Below: The buildings in Delft can be so magnificent.

Below: Another beautiful example of an old house.

Below: We explored the city centre and started the photo shoot. My nose was getting a little red from the cold.

The brown jeans are like my blue jeans…everything goes with them. The styling of the green and white striped shirt with the houndstooth blazer was done in 2024 by my friend Misja (blog MisjaB). I am a bit slow.
Below: This pigeon was cold too. He had spread his feathers wide to keep warm.

Below: A bench to lie on.

Below: I did get a wet bum from sitting on these steps.

Below: Green earring by Lara Design.

Below: We continued our tour through Delft. Isn’t this picturesque? Despite the rain.

Below: Well-preserved building of the Saint Lucas Guild. To be honest, it is a replica. The guild was to prevent the import of art from out of town. Only members of the guild were allowed to sell art. The guild also promoted art and craftmanship etc. Now this replica building shows the complete works of Vermeer in true size, but replicas, like the building itself.

Below: I have photographed this little canal before in summer. So cute when the trees are green.

Below: Marjolein with a new-to-her shirt, bought second-hand. She used to run a shop with a lot of country & western clothes and boots, also selling shirts like this, so she knew the brand.

Below: We had returned to Stads Koffyhuis for a late lunch as heavy rain was ahead and the restaurant is near the parking. Now focus on the bicycle above the arch of the bridge over the canal…

Below: Delft is a city with many students and this is a well-known student prank. No idea how they got the bicycle over the traffic sign. Neither did the owners who are staring at it in disbelief. They had major trouble trying to get it back over the sign. We didn’t stick around to see whether they managed.

The rain got worse, we had enjoyed a delicious lunch…time to go home.
What happened in my life this week
Ron and I went into town on the weekend for a new bunch of tulips and to do some errands.
Below: New tulips with last week’s tulips in the background. They are dead cheap at the moment and they give such a spring feeling.

Below: Artistic styling by me, artistic photography by Ron.

Below: Ron took a photo of me across the table in a restaurant. Earrings are Lara Design. I have pendants in several colours to hang from the chain.

Below: The weather had turned cold again, so time for winter trousers, boots, wool jumper and a scarf. All to keep me warm. Link to original post with this outfit. The trousers are cognac coloured (which is sort of orange), the scarf has orange birds, ergo, orange earrings. Orange and green go well together.

Marjolein and I did another photo shoot on a cold but really sunny day. We need the sunlight folks, to keep our bright mood.
Below: Another, more polished outfit, but also nice and warm for a lunch with my friend Eefje, who lives in Italy half the time. She was back and I immediately arranged a date with her. The black and white blazer you have seen a couple of times. The red tote (bought in Rome) doesn’t make it to the blog very often because it is tucked away high in a cupboard. Out of sight, out of mind. It is a good thing I have an excellent memory of my possessions. In other areas my memory often flunks.

Below: Eefje. One of a kind woman. Love her dearly and we know each other for 41 years. Great sense of humour, also in writing.

Below: Me being sheepish.

I had a great experience taking photographs of a bottle or a glass being shot to pieces. It was a short exercise, set up by my camera shop owner. They have a photo club (of which I am a member now) and they arrange these things frequently. Think of photographing birds, landscape, sunsets, you name it.
Below: These are the two photos I liked best (sooo hard to choose). First photo is when the bullet had just hit the bottle and the second photo is a split second later.

Below: Marcella visited me again after quite a long time. She is busy with buying beads, creating new earrings, fulfilling orders from clients (like museums). I knew that, so I left it to her to make a new appointment. I had it in my agenda but I hardly ever look in my agenda because “I know”. She was ringing our doorbell while I was driving up to Amsterdam to fetch paint. The paint appointment was in my agenda for Friday. Marcella was in my agenda for Wednesday. Luckily, I was only one street away when she called.

Ended the week with buying a few tins of paint from our supplier who is closing shop. We think it is better to have the paint in store than having to try and match the colour when we need to touch things up. A visit to her shop meant an hour and a half chatting and drinking coffee as we know each other for such a long time (since 1995) and being tempted to buy one of her incredible cushions by Designers Guild.
Below: The multi-coloured cushion on the right is the one I (sorry…we…) bought.
