My apologies for featuring yet another pair of jeans but this is what I wear most in retirement. The options alternate between flared jeans, wide jeans or barrel jeans. Then there is variety in the different shoes and what I wear above the jeans. In this post it is flared jeans, white sporty trainers (sneakers) with black laces and an orange jumper, a gift from my friend Marjolein. We have been swapping clothes since we were 21.
We had the intention of going to Amsterdam for the photo shoot but due to work on the tracks there were less trains running which meant we wouldn’t have enough time. Never mind, The Hague still holds areas with good backgrounds.
Below: We started with a sitting-down pose which reveals my trainers (sneakers) quite well. I had chosen one of my necklaces with white and blue balls but changed it later on.

Below: This building in the street where we parked, used to be a kindergarten avant la lettre.

Below: Around the corner were pretty houses providing a good background. The houndstooth tote is a present from my friend Marianne. Aren’t my friends nice to me?

Below: One of the beautiful houses.

Below: Close-up of an ornament in the above photo.

Below: Door of another house in the same street.

Below: And another one.
I don’t like it when they put ugly doorbells and signs on old buildings. Why don’t they keep in sync with the beauty of the building, for Pete’s sake. Often, I photoshop them out of sight but not this time.

Below: We were in front of a shop and Marjolein told me to walk back and forth. This is the good version.

Below: This is the version which usually does not make it to the blog haha. This time it does, just to make you laugh.

Below: When we see a chair, I will sit on it. We had gone into the above shop and I bought a little blue and white scarf which I thought was more modern than the necklace. Also more sporty.

Below: Close-up of the scarf and my earrings (by Lara Design). The blue top underneath the jumper is for extra warmth, second-hand and ancient. I never throw out old tops.

Below: Great flower shop.
(As you can see there are bows on either side of the jumper.)

Below: We got confused. There were three €12,50 labels on the flower arrangement. Does that mean it is a composition of three flower bunches, each €12,50? Or did some overzealous employee stick the price for the arrangement on it three times? I think it is the first as € 12,50 would be too cheap, even for a Dutch flower shop. And there is the vase/flowerpot.

Below: High time for lunch at Barista Café. This is the front of the restaurant.

Below: We sat in a snug, off the main restaurant.

Below: Marjolein at our table, wearing her purple jumper (sweater) with purple leopard jeans.

Below: Note her new boots, purple, of course.

Below: Marjolein, head to toe, looking good!

Below: On our way back, we saw some gorgeous houses (buildings) too. I love the reflection in the water, something I learned to pay attention to through my photo assignments.

Below: What a doorway.

Below: We walked to Denneweg and I photographed three beautiful buildings.

Below: As we were near Marjolein’s place I took this photo from my car. Notice that the house on the right is the same as the one on the left, only the one on the right has a little fake facade on top, supported by an iron bar.

Below: Isn’t this being environmental, being nice to nature? They built the fence around the tree.

Below: By the way, this was my first styling with the orange jumper. Perhaps I shouldn’t have given it away like this and saved it for another post? Never mind.
I combined the jumper with black flared trousers, leopard ankle boots, a black shirt and a long necklace (The Paris Necklace).

What happened in my life this week
Sunday I had ‘created’ a new outfit from my wardrobe and it was such good weather that I wanted to profit from it. Luckily, Loes had time and agreed to take the photos. We had a lovely lunch and chatted while taking photos in the garden of the restaurant. Little wind and a bathroom nearby to check the hair. Afterwards I wasn’t so sure the outfit deserved a post, but you’ll get it anyway. I will not waste photo stock.
I decided to spend less time on my phone scrolling through funny comedian videos and start moving more. So, on Monday I had to go to a medical centre to give a blood sample (cholesterol check) and I took the bike instead of the car. One point for me.
Below: The medical centre is situated in an old building which looks like a school. Impressive stairs.

I also walked outside twice that day, like I had done the day before. And I do not go on for hours behind my computer but make it a point to get up after an hour and do something. A walk, making the bed, doing laundry, fixing something which is broken etc. I am getting so much done.
Below: Titbit. Ron put the crochet frog we got from a friend on the beak of our metal stork. Funny.

Janna (Timelessstyle on Instagram) and I met in Amsterdam to go through the most expensive shopping street, the PC Hooftstraat. Into Dior, Gucci, Loewe, Ganni haha. The staff was really nice to us even though they could spot from a mile away, we were never going to buy anything.
Below: Janna with her Macron aviator sunglasses. We had good fun as she was pulling a cool face.

Then there was a nasty incident as Ron and I were in town to buy something. I don’t want to give a full report of what happened as not to invade Ron’s privacy. But in a nutshell, he broke his wrist and has a cast. Unfortunately, it is the same wrist as the one he was operated on 20 years ago. The metal plates are still in. Next Wednesday the surgeon can compare the old photos with the new ones. No idea what happens after that but I bet he will have a cast for six weeks.
The thing is that Ron cannot drive for six weeks if his arm is in a cast. So, I have to walk dog Watson twice a day, an hour each time. I don’t like dog walking. And it is cold, it even snowed.
Below: Watson in the snow.

Plus, I have to do the shopping, the cooking and the rest and help Ron with lots of things as he cannot even get his slippers on. Well, at least for now. Perhaps it will get better in a week.
I don’t have the nursing gene, not one bone in my body is the caring kind. I know, so bad, but it is the truth. Of course, I’ll help him, of course I’ll walk the dog and I’ll do all the other things but it does not come naturally. Oh well, hopefully, in two months, everything will be in the past.
As for blog posts, I’ll do my utmost, but they might be different.
