Blossom time…so beautiful. Normally I would call it a jumper but for me, as a Dutch person, this is a sweater. (My British editor will have something to say about that.) I combined the blue and white striped sweater with white trousers. Makes a change from my eternal jeans. Stripes are very much on trend but really, they were always good. Stripes have longevity.

Marjolein suggested a couple of spots in the Netherlands where they have loads of blossom trees. I declined as I know that you cannot see the trees from all the people wanting to photograph them. Marjolein is not easily caught out and directed me to a park in The Hague with lovely blossom. Not many trees, but good enough to serve as spring background.

Below: This park will do nicely, right?

There were already houses in the blossom photos, so we didn’t take too many more.

What happened in my life this week

It was a busy, busy week. During the weekend we had Froukje and Petro round for dinner and Ron had decided to give it a French theme.

Below: Ron being French.

Ron as Frenchman

We also had Easter dinner at Georg and Marla.
Below: The dessert was very Easter. It was semolina (for the structure) in the imprint of a hare, with mango sauce.

Below: Marita and I met again. Like Marjolein, she was wearing a polka dots blouse.

Below: We had our coffee (and cake…) in the little courtyard of the restaurant. It used to be Vascobelo but there are new owners and it is now called Café Flore. It is an upgrade.
Beginning of April and already we could sit in the sun. Mind you, if there was any wind or you were sitting in the shade, it was still cold.

Café Flore

I visited my friend Maurits and he lives among the flower fields.
Below: Just a photo taken out of my car window. The brightness of that yellow!

Marcella came to my house and we recorded two videos for her business. Below is one we did for the earrings she created with the Kiss by Klimt as inspiration. It is in Dutch.

Below: This is my outfit for Marcella’s visit. The barrel jeans (dreaded by many haha. I hear you Gee), my Dries van Noten sweater and new earrings by Lara Design.

Below: Marcella took this photo and thought it was funny that the ‘paintings’ by our granddaughter (over my shoulder at the right) were the same colour as the earrings.

Green and yellow earrings

The arthrosis in my hands is playing up a bit. Not that it really hurts but it is getting more difficult to make a fist and the jeweller has to enlarge my right-hand ring. It is too small for my finger now as the knuckle has grown larger. The blessings of old age.

Below: Another outfit from this week. Brown jacket with a yellow jumper. These colours go well together.

Outfit brown and yellow

Below: Close-up of the brown earrings (yes, also Lara Design). They are very lightweight.

Of course we saw the granddaughters. The youngest one is 1 year and 5 months. She is starting to talk but you can only understand a few words, like mummy and daddy. Which meant that I killed myself laughing when she tottered up to me and clearly said “Hello“.

Well, that’s it for the week. See you next week.

  1. Ah, the blossoms! Lovely to see you and your friends, Greetje! I was in Vancouver this past weekend and saw Melanie and we talked about the Blogger meet-up, so many years ago!

    1. I have such vivid memories of the Blogger meet-up. It was such fun. Were you in Vancouver for a special reason? (Birthday?)

A lovely post! The photos were mood lifting and your style was so good in all the photos . I also loved the photo of French Ron.

    1. Often I start creating a post, thinking “Oh boy, I don’t know whether this one will be interesting enough for my readers” and so often you all surprise me. Thanks ever so much for the compliments.

  3. I love this timeless nautical look; it’s beautiful and elegant. The park in The Hague is gorgeous, a really lovely place. The green bag is charming.

    1. Thank you my dear friend. This was a more elegant outfit, right up your street.

  4. In your picture of the door at Number 77 there is a flower pot to the right in the picture and then something that looks to be cast iron with the number 77 on it,,,,what is that item?

    1. That is an old letter box / mailbox. There is a slot above the little door (hard to distinguish) and the owner can open the door with a key to get the mail out.
It is one of these things they used to have at the side of the street when the actual house was further up a path. I reckon the owner liked the feature.

  5. Greetje…. You are wearing one of my favorite looks – classic stripe top, and blue and white. Stripes have always been a mainstay in my wardrobe as they add some interest to my mostly classic style. Thank you for sharing your wonderful photos as always. My husband and I reside in the Vancouver BC area and the amazing tree blossoms draw visitors from many areas to photograph and just enjoy. Now if only we had the wonderful heritage buildings to display!

    1. You do have beautiful heritage buildings in Vancouver. I googled it. I have been to Vancouver in 2015 but was too busy chatting to other bloggers (we had a bloggers get-together) to see much. The harbour was a sight for sore eyes though. And you have incredible nature, which we don’t have.

  6. What a lovely post this week! Thank you for sharing all the gorgeous flowers — you have such a beautiful spring. Here we still have snow on the ground, and our maximum temperatures are around +4 C. But many migratory birds are back, so surely it will warm up soon.
I love all your great oufits and of ccourse Marjolein always looks so well put together.
You wear the most interesting earrings; I must find a way to up my earring game!
Almost forgot to say Ron’s French outfit is hilarious! Glad he is feeling better.

    1. I am sure you will see the flowers coming up soon. After all, they do every year haha.
Marjolein is my buddy in photography, coffee, laughing and outfits.
The earrings are mostly due to Marcella and her website Lara Design. And he who handles the goods, gets to taste them. The amount of earrings I have now due to her, is getting ridiculous haha.
Start googling to see if there is someone creating and selling earrings in an area which doesn’t break the bank with shipping cost.

I love all the outfits, you have a knack for knowing what looks good together. The photos were wonderful so many beautiful places and florals. I can’t wait for our daffodils and tulips to come out. It has been a bit warm and I can see the flowers starting to show themselves. Thank goodness the last of our snow is gone and it looks like the trees will be fully out soon I hope. Every time I look at your photos it makes me want to go to the Netherlands maybe one day. So glad watson and Ron are keeping well. Can’t wait for your next post they are so beautiful.

    1. Spring is such a lovely season, isn’t it? I love this season the most. It is full of life.
I think the Netherlands is quite a beautiful country but I would say that Italy is far nicer. And they have the sun. With the Netherlands you never know whether you will get rain or sunshine, which makes it so difficult to plan a trip. Poor Susan of Une Femme d’un certain age had lots of rain on her trips to Amsterdam.
To live here though, it is an outstanding country.

So happy you captured such a beautiful spring day in Holland! Love your outfit…would work well for the weather here in the SF Bay area in April (we actually are having a very welcome “buckets of rain” storm this weekend). I love stripes…I’ve never been a floral print girl. Once in a dressing room I heard a woman say to another “I thought you had sworn off stripes”…had to laugh I had three striped tops in the dressing room with me. Totally agree with the bright pop of color, but I really liked the brown earrings a lot!

    1. The brown earrings were possible because I wore a bright yellow top, so there already was colour near my face.
I hope the buckets of rain will make everything green in your area.

  9. There is so much to enjoy in this post, Greetje! The blossoms are beautiful and that field of daffodils would take my breath away. To me, daffodils are always a sign of spring which we’re still waiting for here on the Canadian prairie. Ron is such a character and I love the Klimt earrings that Marcella is wearing. I watched the video even though I don’t understand Dutch!

    1. Spring to me, is the best season of all with all this new green, the flowers…you can feel life.
Luckily Marcella is showing the earrings, so you can easily understand what she is talking about, although you won’t get the details.

  10. A lovely Spring Post and as usual your outfits catch the right tone. Im going to do something I never usually do and offer some unsolicited input 🤭.

Who doesn’t love a Breton Stripe (I agree btw, I think it’s silly when they say ‘Florals are huge this year’ or Polka dots are making their comeback’ 😝 There was a whole era where brown was the new black, blue was the new brown 🤦🏻‍♀️).

I LOVE your timeless nautical look, but I’d have added nice bright Tan leather accessories. Or change the bucket bag to red and red jewellery. Yes it risks being a cliché…but for me it’s ’Hello sailor ⚓️’

Thanks for the post, the Queen picture was gorgeous, we all miss her so much.

    Greetings from London xx

    PS How is Watson doing?

    1. I don’t mind unsolicited input as long as it is brought to me in a kind way. Like you have done.
Yes, a bright colour like red was the first thing on my mind. You know I love a bright colour, a pop of colour with such a simple outfit. But I happened to grab that green bucket bag which never went with any outfit and I thought it was perfect for this outfit. So I went with it and added a bright colour with the yellow in the earrings. I also have tan accessories but hardly ever use them as tan never brings a sparkle to my face. But…I should use it more and then add another bright colour near my face as tan is really good in accessories. Thanks for reminding me of this.
Watson is as happy as a dog can be. This morning he played with other dogs and went into stinking, muddy water. It took me a while to clean him haha.

  11. A fun post, as always, Greetje! I like the simplicity of this outfit, and how the textures of the jacket and bag play off each other.

Marjolein’s jacket is a good one. I’m seeing more pieces these days with interesting buttons.

Ron is too funny in his French look.

And the blossoms are magnificent! Some flowering plum and cherry trees in our neighborhood start blooming in late January and only last a couple of weeks. The jacarandas (pretty purple flowers, but sticky!) are starting to fire up.

    1. 💯 was just about to ask about that jacket too. Looks expensive!

      1. Sarah Jane, it is indeed an expensive jacket with the braided leather. It cost me EUR 410. The joke is that an haute couture brand, Bottega Veneta, set the bar with such a jacket. Nearly the same (from a distance, I am sure), but with an elasticated hem instead of a drawstring. What is really different, is the price; EUR 9,200 haha. Not in a million years.

    2. Blossom always lasts only for a short while. But when they are out, it is such a feast for the eye.
You know that bag never went with any outfit, it bummed me out. And with this outfit it was bingo.
