When we discover a brightly coloured wall like this during our photo shoots, we are very happy. This lime is one of my favourite colours though I am wearing something totally different, a blue and white striped shirt with black jeans. The shirt is second-hand and I bought it quite a while ago in Alkmaar at Mevrouw Jansen, great vintage/second-hand shop.
I have worn it before in March with a black waistcoat (link to original post). I like it because it is more fitted and I am getting a bit tired of all the oversized stuff, even though the style suits me.

Marjolein and I decided to go to an area in The Hague we do not frequent that much.

Below: These are typical 1930 porch houses in the Netherlands. You are looking at six homes (apartments). You can reach the second and third storey by the stairs.

Below: Marjolein, looking so good. Amazing how much pizzazz that scarf adds to the outfit, bookended by the earrings. The fly on her trousers is asymmetrical.

Below: The area combined new development with plenty of greenery, and some side streets felt like a village.

Below: “I see a red door and I want it painted black“. Not really. I like red. We had a giggle over the red sunglasses on the lion next to me. By the way, the silver rope-like belt is a present from Marjolein. She thought I’d like one too when she bought it for herself. Great to have friends like that.

Below: As we walked on, we stumbled upon this play garden. We were surprised. It looked like a communal garden. After some research, we found out it was a day care centre.

Below: At the back of the day care centre was a big playground. Looking for some shade, I stood close to the side of this arch.

I touched the arch in my quest for a new pose and all of a sudden this loud voice yelled in my ear: “Touch the button“. I shrieked and we both burst out laughing after we realised where the voice came from (the loudspeaker next to my head).

Below: This bench gave me a surprise too. It moved with me. Fun playground. I am still pleased with my new sunglasses (from a month or so ago).

Below: At one end of the playground was this mural. We thought the colours complimented my outfit.

Below: To our surprise we saw a Hindu temple (Shri Sanatan Dharm Dew Mandir) behind a fence. Not something you’d expect in the middle of The Hague. The bars of the fence were too close together to take a good shot of the building so I put my phone through the bars for a good photo. And then be very, very careful you don’t drop your phone haha.

That was the photo shoot done. We drove on to a more familiar street to have coffee, lunch and to do a bit of shopping.

What happened in my life this week

The BVA girls got together again. Yay. It was quite a while ago that the six of us were all present. Marijke is in Spain a lot and Jilske in Tanzania, which makes it difficult to organise a date.

We met at Marianne’s house and didn’t go out but had lovely chats with each other. No photo shoot or anything, but I did take a photo of each of us.

Marianne was clearing her wardrobe and we tried on the clothes she was chucking out. That was an old-fashioned girls’ afternoon haha. We all came away with something. I got a pair of Adidas athletic trousers.

On Monday, I met my friend Anja, who moved from my street to Spain. It is always lovely to see her when she visits the Netherlands. We had drinks and dinner, and she took outfit photos for next week’s post because Monday was a dry day last week. Below: Anja at the restaurant.

I visited my posture instructor Ruby in a rehabilitation centre. She is doing well, but of course the healing of a basilar skull fracture is going to take time, much more time than she wants to. For an active woman it is hard to be sitting in the same (hospital-type of) room the whole time. She is very bored.

The rehabilitation centre is in The Hague, so I visited Marjolein the same day. We did an impromptu photo shoot. It won’t be a tour through a town nor a visit to an interesting museum, but it cannot always be party time folks. You will get a new post, that is the main thing.

There were some sad things going on this week, but that concerns others so I cannot tell you about it. Privacy above all.

And on a happy note…I bought a pair of earrings at Marcella’s store (below). It was just a matter of time before I would succumb. Lara Design is such a tempting shop.
