She was 5 ft 4 (1 meter 65) and I am 5 ft 74 (1 meter 75). Oversized stuff always looks cute on small girls.
So why didn’t I realize that it would not necessarily look good on me?
I have no idea. Total blanc, I suppose.
Apart from that, she wore the jacket in black and I decided to go “for something different” and chose grey.
Grey is not my colour. Not at all.
Boxy, wide, long jackets are not flattering for my figure.
I have bought so many things to make this jacket work, it would have been a lot cheaper if I had thrown in the towel immediately and gave it to my niece. I am sure she agrees as she loves this jacket.
Here we go…. (they are photos from some time ago, so some of them are not the best).
The above combination was not half bad in my opinion.
To me, you can wear anything with jeans. Combined with high heeled grey boots and the blouse, I felt I did well. The comments were contradictory. Some thought the world of it, some thought it was wrong to add such a feminine blouse or to wear it with jeans. I wasn’t sure.
The grey boyfriend jacket outfit with the hat is my favourite combination. But not everybody likes (off)white boots over trousers with mature woman. It this too much cheergirl-style? Could be. What do you think?
I love the hat, but you don’t always wear it, especially not indoors. I did once and had such a laugh with one of my colleagues. She had the funniest break-down speech ever and ended by saying: “Never mind dear, you know what they say, it is the inner you that counts”. By that time my tummy was aching from laughing.
What can I say of the above? I tried to add a colour that did suit me. But I don’t like this combination, although I have no idea what is wrong with it.
You will see more of my trials with this jacket in the near future.
I like wearing long jackets with a mini dress. Have you tried that? I think it looks cute with jeans. (:
Ah.. That is not possible for me anymore. As I said in another reply to you. I do look my age in some lights (or perhaps most lights but am never noticing that haha). And that face combined with a mini skirt looks wrong. Some women can pull it off till they die. I cannot.
I do not think you look bad this jacket. I think it’s an interesting look and jacket, but a little big, you is nice and goes well with jeans and shirts, especially the second and third. I love the combination of red and gray, for which you do not like? The look with the hat is funny and nice, I like. With these trousers your figure looks great.
I am just writing this note to see if it comes on your blog, when so I am ready to start giving my comments, xo Marianne
And you are off…. Looking forward to seeing your comments.
As I have tried more combinations, you will see this jacket again in the near future.
I agree with the boys:the second and third outfits look good (I just don’t like the white boots). Red, blue and grey are great together and I think they suit you. Seems the ruffles in the first outfit is what it doesn’t blend well as it makes it more boxy, bulky. With the tee shirts, since they re plain, it’s the jacket that draws the eye and the touch of colour just adds more playfulness.
Well boys, this is a surprise. I thought the jacket was a “man repeller”. I know it looks too big, but that is fashion for you. It is supposed to be this way. With shoulders which are too wide etc. The boxy boyfriend-look is in. Have you seen the coats this year? So big.I already had a discussion with my seamstress. She showed me how she could take it in to give it a waist. Looked good, but I am hesitating whether I am going to spend even more money on the jacket.Josep-Maria, I think I don’t like the third outfit because there is absolutely no connection between the blue (jeans), grey and red. There is nothing to tie them together. A necklace could help but finding one that fits this style is not easy (for me).

I really like the combinations you tried with this blazer. I think it was simply too large. If you had it altered and taken in some, it would look amazing on you. I’m thinking that is why you felt like something was “wrong” with pairing it with the bright color. They actually go together very well!xo,Terry http://terrys-two-cents.blogspot.com
