After I uploaded the above picture, I hesitated… Did I really want a photo of me, this close, as the first photo of a post? Showing all those wrinkles? I decided to rise above it. We all grow older and it is time to accept the changes. As long as you are healthy, having fun and laughing enough, the world is alright as far as I am concerned.
This post is about blogging and the wonderful things that happen when you reach out to others. Â
With some bloggers I have a special connection like with Trina, Bella and Catherine (Sylvia: you are not a blogger, you are the start of it all. LOL). And then there is Dan. She is an Italian blogger (The Pretty Cute), fairly new to the “game”, as I am. She has a very elegant style and makes a lot of nice jewellery herself.
I like her necklaces and said I would buy one if she were to sell them. Sure enough she made one for me and sent it in a box together with a lovely card and lots of Italian cookies. So nice to receive a parcel like that.Â
To honour it, I immediately went out and bought this top as a “canvas” for the necklace. Very comfortable top. Another casual outfit which still looks elegant. I am doing quite well this year. Usually when I go casual, I go VERY CASUAL.
Jeans are by J Brand, ballerinas by Tommy Hilfiger, top by “Princess goes Hollywood” (never heard of).
Below right: the cat was on the roof of the shed but fled when I took the picture. Her posing days are over it seems.[twocol_one][/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last][/twocol_one_last][twocol_one][/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last][/twocol_one_last][twocol_one][/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last][/twocol_one_last]
I just love blogging. Â Do you want to see loads of other bloggers all together at one place (the blog of Not Dead Yet Style)? Have a look at Visible Monday.

What a great post Greetje! It is wonderful to meet wonderful people from all over the world and form friendships that otherwise would not have happened. The necklace is gorgeous and the top is the perfect canvas to show it off!

Thanks Alice. Although I realize that real friendships with people I actually know are more important, I still enjoy all these lovely blogger friends.
such a nice story – and that is what i love about blogging too, all these wonderful connections! Your necklace is lovely :)) Enjoy and I’m sure it will make you think fondly of all your blog friends!

So very true.
Beautiful necklace – and it is great to “meet” such sweet women online from blogging.
Yes it is. You could meet quite a few bloggers in real life with all the travelling you do. Couldn’t you?
Hi Greetje – I probably could but honestly I’ve never considered it. I had just assumed it may be difficult between my scheduling and the other’s bloggers scheduling so I’ve never tried. Good to consider though!
Might be difficult but certainly not impossible. Even a quick coffee at the airport wpuld be fun.
The necklace is gorgeous and the whole combination is great. On top of that: you look great!
Thanks Anja, glad my personal stylist approves. Miss you.
Great necklace, great outfit and top. Great to see that you are making such wonderful connections in bloggerland. I for one can attest to the fact that Greetje is as nice in real life as she is on her blog, but I’m sure that everyone already knows that!
I get mushy when I read things like this. Not good for me.
Awww. Such a great piece, and you give it an excellent, casual canvas. You perk up your very casual looks with such classic, understated accent pieces better than just about anyone.
Your very pleased-with-yourself-smile says it all … good for you!
Wrinkles … we all get them if we live long enough. We’re supposed to love them, but I’ve never managed total acceptance. I’m a bit smug as I don’t have more than my share for my age. One reason is that I’ve never liked to spend time in the sun. The other reason is terrible … I don’t smile much unless I’m in a photo! I will admit, though, that I don’t mind smile wrinkles around a woman’s eyes at all … sort of proud of the ones I do have. And I’m not entirely adverse to some new wrinkles that look almost like dimples when I do smile. Not quite, but almost.
Regardless … you look beautiful. Laugh lines and all!
I have been in the sun quite a lot, but it really is more a matter of genes. If you had seen my dad, you would know where my wrinkles come from.
As for laughing wrinkles… I laugh a lot and usually very loud too. I like it best when somebody cracks a joke unexpectedly. I laugh so loud then, you can hear it miles away. Head in my neck and go… Haha
I think the bloggosphere is a wonderful place. I have met many friends that are now part of another family.
The necklace is fantastic, and the top is perfect.
Love, dear Greetje

Glad you like it. Blogging is fun.
Greetje, what a lovely present and she send you cookies as well!!!!
Being proud of our faces and bodies as we aged is the best attitude, I mean the other choice is cremation or 7 feet under (or maybe 10 feet depending on how far down you wish to go!!), and I believe we all want to put that choice far away from our sights.
Hahaha, Ofelia, so funny!
There you are!!! Missed you. Do you have to work so hard? Thanks for your funny comment. You had me laughing out loud.
You chose the perfect canvas for your beautiful gifted necklace. I love your close up, and agree. Healthy, having fun and laughing celebrate our lives, at any age.
I was inspired by your feature today on Bella’s blog!
Well… I didn’t know that what you meant with “your feature on Bella’s blog”, so I had a look. WHAT A SURPRISE ! Haha. How nice of her.
And I am glad you agree with me (I knew you would).
I love your blog, i´m from brazil.
Oh, Greetje…you are so sweet ! I thank you very much for your words. I think I was very lucky to find your blog, which I love for a lot of reasons.
Every week your posts are an a pleasant appointment with my friend from up there! (The Netherlands respect of Italy ) Blogging is wonderful and you are a special person!
Oh I am not a special person. Don’t forget, your mind fills in the blancs of my personality with all good things. That is how minds work. Once you get to know the person and the blancs are filled in with reality, it might be a whole different ball game haha.
Ofcourse you are, silly. Like many people are. That’s the joy of getting to know people; you discover how special many of them are, all in their own way. It’s one of my biggest joys in life! It is moving, surprising and special. And so are you!!!
🙂
Greetje, you look fabulous. My very favourite photo in this post is the first one. Yes, you’ve got style and beauty, but more than that, your photo shows a woman with love and laughter radiating from her face! Dan couldn’t have sent cookies and a necklace to a more deserving person.
I am going to write different posts in future haha. All these moving messages are too much for me. LOL
What a great necklace and you wear it with pride. I especially adore Trina and Dan too. Such specially
ladies just as you are. These jeans look like they were made for you!
blue hue wonderland
Yep, I am a jeans kind a girl. Skinnies are sometimes even better. Since I am blogging my style is slightly changing. I quite like that.
Queen of the jeans. Who carries jeans this way so pretty, and is capable of being so attractive with a model as simple and casual? I love the look, I love the delicacy and simplicity. I like ballerinas, a lot. And I love the necklace Dan, is an artist, this is gorgeous. What a joy to receive a package like that. I’ll send one of Catalunya LOL. To finish, and I repeat to other posts, your photos, close up, are beautiful. You are brave and I admire them for it. A wrinkle is a sign of mature beauty, a sign of life.
I realized this morning I forgot to mention you and Annette as bloggers I have a special connection with. I did delete that sentence twice when I was writing the post because in the back of my head I knew I was doing some people injustice. My apologies.
🙂 🙂 thanks!
A comment like this….. is why we bloggers love you so much. You are such a blessing.
And yes, I have noticed I am wearing a lot of jeans and skinnies lately. Strange… usually I have a mix of everything.
(I wonder what could be in a package from Catalunya LOL.)
Fun necklace. Thanks to you, I visited Dan’s blog and found it terrific. You have such a wonderful sense of humor equaled by your sense of style!
Blogging is really about sharing. I learn from you and get inspired and vice versa. You are such a good example of style and drive. Which is paying off nicely these days. And right so.
Greetje, you said it all… “the wonderful things that happen when you reach out to others” – as you know I only started blogging in January and I still can’t believe how much I benefit from it, how many gorgeous ladies I have met already. It is a gift.
And your gift from Dan whose blog I only discovered recently is wonderful!
Your silk top is the perfect match with your jeans.
Annette | Lady of Style
And I realized this morning I forgot to mention you and Josep-Maria as bloggers I have a special connection with. I did delete that sentence twice when I was writing the post because in the back of my head I knew I was doing some people injustice. Sorry Annette.
Don’t you worry about that, Greetje! But I should not only have mentioned ladies but certainly our dear Josep-Maria too!
Annette
And the top is also the perfect “canvas” for the necklace.
That top is drop dead gorgeous!
oh hello Anja… what a nice surprise to see your comment too.
Lovely new necklace, Greetje! And I agree with what you wrote about again – if we are lucky it happens to us. You look lovely and thanks for sharing with Visible Monday.
I do spend too much time behind a computer though haha
Stop it already! You are a special person and I’m sure I can speak for Dan also when I say that if and when we fill in the blancs with reality, that special person will only become more real and even more special. I truly look forward to the day when I can have a lunch date and shopping spree with you. I actually tried to have a one day layover in Amsterdam next month so I could meet with you, but it didn’t work out. Hopefully in the Spring time.
I do not own a pair of j brand jeans but have been very tempted, they look incredibly awesome on you, but then as Josep-Maria reminded us, you are the Queen of Jeans.
I get shy when you fooks say these things. We Dutch are very Reformed by nature. We have to be modest to be appreciated haha. And I love stop-overs. What a pity it did not work out. I am going ahead with my “project plans” for Spring, but stop over any time you like.
I love your blog, i´m from brazil.

Thank you so much for introducing me to Dan. That necklace she made for you is so unique and the way you’ve style it is perfect.
Getting perspective from so many different women worldwide is such a wonderful gift.
Yes people…the internet has more to offer than just porn!
bisous
Suzanne
It certainly does. Thanks for leaving your nice comment.

Hello Queen of the jeans!!! How sweet of Josep-Maria! He is truly a fashion blogger’s delight and makes us all feel special!!
What your first picture shows is your radiant smile! 🙂 Such fun photos with the ladder.
The pretty top is, indeed, a perfect canvas to display the necklace! What a lovely gift. It dresses up the jeans so nicely. What shade is the top?
I’m a fan of ballet flats–pretty and practical.
Fashion is fun!!
<3 carmen
The shade of the top is pinkish / beige / gold. A colour which is usually the absolute pitts for my complexion. The woman in the shop called it “the new white”. I can wear it because there is gold in it and it is shiny AND because I am wearing the colourful necklace.
