Another blogpost using blow-up art as background for our photo shoot of the golden yellow top I bought in Milan. Marjolein and I used BlowUp art as background last year as well. It is colourful, it is artistic and it is something different.

Below: This piece of art is by Jan Snoek and is called Nero. Is there any point in me telling you about who created which one? I bet not.

Below: I am pointing at the ’30’. Not that anyone would ever believe I would be 30.

Below: The art is by Eugenie Boon. It is a wide piece.

Below: Here is another part of it.

Below: The golden yellow top is by WHYCI Milano. The trousers by Humanoid are a couple of years old and you have seen them before in this post with a neon pink top and in this post with a blue blazer and a blue blouse. At the end of the day I managed to get a dirty great big right-angled rip near the bottom of one of the trouser legs. No idea how.
The scarf is from kpa.haarlem, the bag is Wandler, the belt Loewe and the sandals I cannot remember buying.

Below: Here are a couple of art works without me in the picture.

Below: A horse and carriage went by. It makes for a beautiful picture with the trees and the houses.

Below: I am in this photo, on the left, looking at the ground near the tree to see whether it was safe to put down my tote there. Marjolein kept saying “Don’t! Doggies pee there!”

Below: I changed my belt, shoes and earrings, replaced my scarf for a necklace and added a bracelet (spot the differences LOL).

Golden yellow top

Below: I like this one. The artwork had arms reaching out to the front on both sides. It was too tempting not to imitate. Marjolein, being a dancer, coached me how to hold my arms.

Below: She also directed me to stand in this spot, so she could take the shot with me in the middle.

Below: One of my personal favourites. The artist is Klaas Gubbels. He is a painter and a sculptor, well-known for his special love of coffeepots.

Below: I just let my tush land on any floor for a good photo, although the colours went funny on this one.

Below: This is the whole building and it also has this strange green haze. Probably from the sun shining through the trees.

Building in The Hague

It was time for lunch, which we did at Pulchri Studio, an artists’ association and gallery, which organized the exhibition with the sculptures in this post (and more). They also have an excellent restaurant and terrace.

Below: The only thing is, I always get stains on my clothes and I ordered a tricky dish with burrata, pesto (!) and some red sauce. The waiter gave me several serviettes but they were small and the wind blew them off my lap.
I took a shopping tote from my bag and tied it around my neck as a bib. Not really what one does in a posh restaurant, but the thought of any of such stains on my new top, made me do it anyway. The blessing of getting older…you don’t give a damn.

Below: And finally, what you’ve all been waiting for…(drumroll, please), Marjolein, being her dazzling self again.

Below: I finally got a good shot of her new purple earrings.

Another lovely day.

What happened in my life this week

Saturday the Shopping Saturday ‘girls’ went to Antwerp, which means Anke, Sabine and I. It was a great day, celebrating friendship. Those sweet women surprised me with a high tea at the end of the day as a treat for my birthday earlier this year. Why I get a present while we never celebrate each other’s birthday, is something I cannot understand. They have done this a couple of times before. Anyway, it was delicious and their company made it even better. Friends are the salt of the earth. Next week you’ll get a full report, for now a preview of the high tea venue (below).

Tearoom for the high tea

Sunday was supposed to be an uneventful day with laundry etc. That was until the doorbell rang and this shaking girl confessed to have broken off my car’s left mirror. She dodged a cat and that’s how it happened. The cat is still alive, our insurance papers have been filled in, everything is fine again.

Monday the garage gave me an estimate for repairing the mirror which is a whopping €570. I forwarded it to my insurance guy and it will be fixed this week. Wore a simple jeans with white shirt outfit and added a colourful scarf (below).

Tuesday I had to help Ron by walking the dog and I did my fitness exercises (finally). Broke in my vintage Jil Sander shoes which I bought in Antwerp last Saturday. Created this outfit (below).

Orange and pink and black top and Jil Sander shoes

Below: Close-up of the vintage Jil Sander shoes. Found them at Winckle in Antwerp. Fabulous vintage shop as you will see next week.

Wednesday I went out to dinner with Helga (below). Always cheerful, always a great evening with fun and this time was no exception.

Below: Helga took this photo of me. I was wearing a thick linen dress and my off-white trench coat (gorgeous but impractical).

Thursday we saw the granddaughters again (and Nicky, of course). And at the end of the afternoon I drove to Maurits who was celebrating his birthday (below).

Birthday Maurits

That day I had been driving with my right car mirror not extending to the point where I could actually see cars behind me at the right. A couple of times I nearly crashed into one. I made another appointment with the garage (again) and I had been talking about it to the other guests, stressing how dangerous it was. Then as I left, Maurits took one look at the mirror, gave it a tap and it worked again. We laughed so loud. He said: “You do understand that I am going to tell everybody in the house all about this, don’t you, haha.” I would have done the same.

Friday was a day of peace and quiet.

  1. Oh my goodness! All the shots were awesome…so very pretty. Also loved your outfit…and that great white blouse you had on at the end.
Yes, auto repair prices are frightening. I need to have my drivers side sunscreen replaced, but I won’t for now because of the price
    707 USD!

    1. Good shots are all thanks to my photographer of the day, Marjolein.
As for the car mirror, I didn’t have to pay for that fortunately. It wasn’t me that caused it. The insurance company already refunded the money.

  2. I liked all the style ups! Everyone looked fantastic. Great colors and combos.

    1. Well, that is a very lovely comment. Thank you for the compliments.

  3. Your creative clothing choices continue to inspire. However, it is your happiness that shows best in this blog. You are radiant.
Showing off the art exhibits takes us away to parts unknown
    Thanks for the fun!

    1. Happiness showing and being radiant, those are is the best compliments anyone can get. Thank you very much, you made my day.

  4. I love both versions of your outfit, especially the one with the blue shoes, belt and necklace – it’s a little more unexpected than yellow, black and white. Marjolein looks divine with that hint of purple in her outfit; and Helga looks like she might have a story or two to tell! Have a lovely week.

    1. Well…the white trousers are actually a pebble colour but I agree with you, the blue is more unexpected.
Marjolein really is the second outfit model in my posts. She loves clothes as much as I do and knows how to style them.’
Helga does have a story or two to tell haha. She can make me laugh so loud.

  5. I really like this top and the look, with these pants and the scarf, it’s very elegant. You’re not thirty, you look like you’re in your thirties. A beautiful example of contemporary urban sculpture; I like this kind of art to beautify cities. Your necklace is adorable. I think the outfit looks even prettier with your gorgeous heels. I love your white trench coat.

    1. Again a week with many compliments from you. For which I am grateful.
I love the white trench coat too, but it is so impractical. I don’t lead a life on high heels, being taken everywhere by taxies. To avoid dirt on it that evening, I didn’t go to the restaurant by bicycle but by car. A few hours in the car park cost me €16. But I so wanted to wear that coat for once.

  6. Your golden yellow top is so flattering on you. It just makes your face glow! What is the thing on top of the birthday cake with candles? I’ve never seen anything like that before.

    1. That is the good thing of ‘having your colours done’. I had such an accessment many years ago and yellow as a good colour for me, was a surprise back then.
I have no idea what the thing on top of the birthday cake is. Probably just a candle holder but it looks a bit like a crab.

  7. What a great look– The yellow top with tan pants and scarf. From head to toe, you look terrific! The photos are so colorful and fun. I felt the fun. I also love the Jil Sander shoes. Divine.

    1. I am beginning to think I know what I am doing with styling haha. Then there are other times when I am hopeless at it. A scarf is something I hardly ever wear but with this outfit I thought it brought something extra.
If you can feel the fun, then I have done a good job. Thank you.

  8. I love the colour of your golden yellow top and the scarf caught my eye because I’m at a national neuroendocrine patients conference this weekend. The zebra is our symbol (breast cancer has their pink ribbon, ours is zebra striped) so many have been wearing zebra stripes. Your scarf would have fit right in! This afternoon I shared my patient story which was well accepted by the audience. I wore a recent vintage purchase that reminds me of you because it is so much more colourful than the more neutral colours that I usually wear. I featured the jacket on my blog last week.

    1. I don’t wear the scarf much as I don’t wear any scarf much. They just lie in a drawer. But with this outfit I thought it added something extra.
I am going to your blog to read about your brave story telling. I bet your colourful clothes were smashing.

  9. How wonderful that the young girl came to tell you about the mirror. So many people would just drive on, hoping it wasn’t on camera and no one would be the wiser. Good for her for being honest, and for avoiding the cat! I also love your shopping bag bib. You’re right about growing older – you learn to not care about what others think. Or as my mother always said, don’t worry, they’re not thinking about you anyway!

    1. Very true. I think it was her first accident (in her father’s car). As for your mother…I think she was so right. We are way less interesting than we think. And people are usually more interested in themselves anyway.

  10. Seeing all that inflatable art was really cool, thank you, Greetje. Sorry for my absence, it’s been a crazy month or so.
Love your new Jil Sanders shoes, shoes, and you look fabulous in that golden yellow.💕

    1. Thanks Sheila. I have been quite absent too (Milan and such). There will be more golden yellow in the near future (cause it suits me so well).

  11. Loved all your outfits and especially Marjolein’s great outfit! You both have great style. Thank you for sharing the wonderful art and I look forward to the High Tea photos.

    1. Yes, Marjolein is a valued contributor to my little blog. Not just one outfit but two outfits for my dear readers. Creating these posts is my hobby and I am glad you appreciate them.

  12. All your outfits, including both stylings with the yellow top, on today’s post are smashing and very becoming. Marjolin’s earrings are terrific! Your blog is a happy start to my holiday weekend.

    1. I am glad I can contribute to your happy holiday weekend. That’s what my blog is for, spreading laughter, inspiration and happiness.

I really like the black sandals – they give your clothes a whole new modern look… I bought a pair myself last year in the sales but have only worn them twice as they are rather heavy, I hope this won’t apply to yours!
What a lovely city you live in. Our visitors often mention how dirty and chain-dominated London can be nowadays — I’m amazed that a worldwide poll apparently puts it as the second favourite city in the world ! But of course I love it just because I’m a Londoner.
As far as I know our sculpture exhibitions in Battersea Park and Holland Park have gone, crowded out by the more commercial Frieze art-fair offerings.. I particularly liked the big glowing ed and pink assemblage you showed, made beautifully out of plastic household items. The giant chair pioneered by Magdalena Jetelova has gained wider currency and I see several newer sculptors making it their own. A very resonant image for all kinds of reasons.
But now the washing machine calls me!

    1. My Jil Sander shoes are very light-weight.
I do have to correct you on one thing. I do not live in The Hague, my friend Marjolein does.
You balance your life well: art and washing machine haha.

  14. What a lovely day in Den Haag. You made a wonderful reportage of the art exhibition. I loved to read about Jan Snoek since one of his sculptures stands in front of my home.
I also love your colorful clothes, they make every photo happier!

    1. What a lovely comment Josephine. Thank you. Colourful clothes make me happier too.
