The statue is the depiction of a Dutch children’s song about the son of a count living in The Hague. He is pointing to where his father lives and I am doing the same. The outfit for this week is a combination of my wide white trousers with a bright blue top (or shirt if you will).
Because the top is shorter than most of my shirts and tops, I thought that I could just let it hang with no need to tuck it in. In hindsight I am not so sure. Tucking a shirt in at the front looks good on me, but actually only with mid-rise trousers. If they are high-waisted then a tucked-in shirt often highlights my short upper body. I think I will go hunting for a good pair of mid-rise jeans.
Anyway, I was in The Hague to meet my friend Peggy. It wasn’t my intention to turn our get-together into a photo shoot but this outfit hadn’t been on the blog yet and Peggy had no objection whatsoever to taking photos with my iPhone.
Below: Peggy, a cheerful, highly intelligent hardworking mum of three. She is a delight. I am so happy with all my friends.

Below: Lange Voorhout, The Hague. Such a lovely place with the sun shining through the trees.

Below: In front of the Royal Theatre. Artificial blossom flowers are cheering up a lot of places these days.

Below: The government buildings. Look, there is a fountain behind me.

Below: The Passage (again). Do you see what I mean with the length of the shirt? The fact that the sleeves are extra long, doesn’t help either. I should have rolled up my sleeves. Why do I always think of these things AFTER the photo shoot?

Below: Another spot with artificial blossom. In the Passage.

Below: Near Denneweg we found these musicians.

Below: If you want to hear them, here is a 7 second video.
Below: We liked the paintings in this shop and all the bronze birds.

Below: I was smitten by this bird feeder in the shape of a diamond ring (of course I was). You can remove the ‘diamond’ to put in the food.

Below: We had to ‘document’ the mural in one of the restaurants. The little red bag by the way, is ancient. I bought it about 30 years ago and it was expensive at the time but it lasts.

Below: Looking at this photo, it strikes me that the trousers look flabby for lack of a better word.

Below: This is how I styled it in the bedroom. It looked better then.

Enough digressing. Back to the Denneweg area.
Below: You might have seen this statue of Johan van Oldenbarnevelt before in a previous post.

Below: While sitting on a terrace in the sun, we heard another pair of musicians (on the right). It was so nice, just sitting there and watching people.

Below: Peggy spotted this lady across the road with that awesome jacket. I went over to her and asked whether I could take her picture and put it on the blog. I got permission. Peggy and I both could have bought this jacket if we had found it.

Below: And how about this lady? LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

Below: A little close-up to show all the pearls. Even the long string is hanging right, it often slips to the side of one of my breasts…sigh.

Below: So many historic buildings in The Hague.

What happened in my life this week
Saturday: I did a photo shoot with Loes at the market. A location suggestion by Ron as it is always lively at the market. And he was right. In the afternoon I was running around doing all sorts of errands. Ron had invited friends and neighbours Froukje and Petro over for an informal meal (salade niçoise). It was a great day.
Sunday: My friend Ayen celebrated her 65th birthday with 17 of her female friends (below). She booked a charming venue (an old barn) and we got served many dishes with delicious food.

Below: I wore this outfit to the birthday party. (Link to the original post and to the post with a black shirt.)

Monday we helped Nicky and Randolf by babysitting the grandchildren.
Tuesday I visited Selma, also in The Hague. I brought various salads for lunch at her house and afterwards we walked into town for a drink on a terrace (below). I fell totally in love with her shoes.

Below: My outfit to see Selma. I used to wear this Essentiel Antwerp top (a gift from Peggy) with boyfriend jeans but those jeans are at the end of their life cycle.
After seeing Selma’s modern slingbacks I thought my shoes were so lame, so run of the mill. As far as I am concerned, they are only good underneath wide leg trousers, only revealing the toe.

Below: Wednesday Helena visited me for a chat, coffee and to pick up my gift, my HIGH jeans. Every time I put those jeans on, they didn’t feel good. I managed to style them once with a black jumper and orange boots and I still like it. But other than that outfit, I thought it made me look masculine. My motto is: no matter how expensive an item is, if it doesn’t give you joy, get rid of it.
I knew Helena loves HIGH jeans and I also knew that the size I bought was her size. They fitted like a glove and she was ever so pleased. She came with almond sweets and treated me to lunch, both being totally unnecessary, but appreciated.
Below: Helena and me at the restaurant. She wore a great off-white denim suit. (Link to the original post of my Samsoe and Samsoe jeans with the white oversized shirt.)

Unfortunately (or fortunately) she decided it would be nice to go into town and browse through the shops. Something I shouldn’t do when my money bag is empty.
I saw the shoes I admired on Selma the day before, in a light blue jeans colour. They were my size and I couldn’t resist them. Small windfall, it turned out I had some credit with the shop that I had totally forgotten about. Not enough to justify the purchase though. Let’s just hope I can wear them to threads.
Thursday we helped daughter Nicky by looking after the grandchildren and doing some household chores.
Friday my darling friend Lia and I saw each other again. It had been quite a while. The usual stuff, talking, laughing, coffee, talking, laughing, lunch, talking, coffee, laughing and home again. Below: Lia.
Below: I wore my Kermit-green blazer with flared jeans to Lia. (Link to original post with different shoes.)
