Herewith the fourth way I styled these flared jeans. This time with a flower sweater by Max Mara (Group). From my last trip to Turin. The fabric is some sort of neoprene. Originally this sweater was meant to be used on the cream plisse skirt, which is fine. I can use it on a few other skirts too. But to my surprise it also works with these jeans. I am not complaining.
When we did the photoshoot with these jeans and my (bright) yellow top in the harbour of IJmuiden, I switched tops and we shot this outfit too. By that time I was c. c.. c… cold. And when I am cold, it shows in my face. I get white cheeks and a red nose. Not a pretty sight. I selected the best photos (of course) to show you.
Above: best picture. If you are wondering “where have I seen this flower before?”… well .. you have on the skirt of Daniela. She picked the sweater for me herself… so I am not to blame.
Below: really big ships in that harbour. Below: and the wind was blowing on this grey day…..Below: usually when you take pictures of someone walking, that person looks more natural. So this is my natural face…. Now you know why I laugh or smile in all my photos. I don’t want to bring you down 😆 . Below: I was a bit concerned I might look like a hulk from the back, but I kinda like this.Below: Charlie is a sweet dog.Below: colourful picture as intermezzo….Below: Ron had ordered me to walk on. As I turned around he was nowhere to be seen and neither was the dog. I looked pretty stupid. When he suddenly appeared from behind a container I laughed. I laugh very easily. I think that is why Ron loves me so much… I laugh at all his jokes haha.Below: art picture by Ron.Below: or do you prefer this one?Below: the heels of these boots are high enough to wear with my flared jeans. Not really super comfortable as the heel is really high even though they don’t like it from this angle. When I saw this picture I went straight to the shoe-polish. Poor things had been neglected for a long time. They fit me well and I like it that the grey of the sleeves is reflected in the boots. I am a sucker for matchy matchy, even though that is highly unpopular. I don’t care, I wear what I like.Brand information: sweater Max Mara or subbrand, jeans: Paige, boots: Max Mara (three years ago), bag: Marina Rinaldi.
Greetje
Smart idea to bring another top for an extra post! I couldn’t do the same because Vincenzo ( who often is my photographer ) is not very patient … I have to hurry , remember to smile and hope that the photos are o.k.!
The top goes perfectly with jeans! What a pity they haven’t it in my size!
Beautiful artistic photos and very nice colourful background…
p.s.
I love your face, also when you are not smiling and I think that wrinkles make a person more interesting … there are many different kinds of beauty!
You give my confidence such a boost. Thank you my dear. This top gets a lot of compliments. I am sure your skirt with the same flower gets you the same.
Well I knew those jeans were golden the first time I saw them on you and it’s so great that you found all those really different looks with them This one is unique and looks fab on you but I think I liked all the looks you presented!
I have to say I was not that sure when ai bought them. And I am surprising myself, creating 4 different outfits. All by myself. I must have learned a thing or two these past blogging years.
My legs look longer because of the high heels and the shorter top. Everything in between is one line: the trousers. Optical illusion created haha.
The ships are a great background! That’s the big advantage of living in NL. There are lots of great backgrounds year round. Great outfit!
I agree. Poor you are stuck with a lot of white snow a larger part of the year. But you are happy there.
I love the laughing photo of you when Ron, who was hiding, popped up. Priceless!! All great photos, and very smart to bring another top so you could also do this post. I really like the graphic of the rose on the front. Great idea to pair it with jeans – which look fantastic on you, front view and back. Your hair looks great from the back too.
I do love my hair dresser.
And I was quite surprised that the sweater looked so good on these jeans. I was afraid it might emphasize my inverted triangle shape. Perhaps it does, but it doesn’t bother me with this outfit.
Beautiful photos. I love your jersey, it’s very nice and modern. I love the volume, design and delicate pattern. Flared jeans are not an easy garment, you need to have a wonderful legs like yours.
You flatterer hahaha. Thanks dear friend.
Matchy matchy is back Greetje!
So you are bang on trend :oD
I love this look on you.
Unexpected, but still elegant and sleek.
The structure of your jumper/top is something I love to wear myself and your legs are so incredible that they seem to defy the laws of physics!
I worried about looking too much like “shoulders on sticks” in my neoprene top but I think that somehow the structure of well fitting jeans, really gives this look a balance.
It shouldn’t work….but it does!!
I often think that if we can constantly surprise ourselves style-wise.
There is never any need to be in a rut, or boring…or frumpy…at ANY age.
Trying a slightly different shape works beautifully.

P.s. I try to smile in all of my photos too….I look like I have just stood in something unpleasant, when I don’t!! hahahaha
Hahaha… something unpleasant… I look angry, sad or older when I don’t smile or laugh. Three reasons to laugh a lot. And you have explained my fears with this outfit very well. I like your conclusion: “It shouldn’t work, but it does.” I was very surprised myself.
The legs are my biggest assets. So I emphasize them. Figures.. doesn’t it?
I like the shirt and the jeans! Great combination. The shirt is very stylish and special!!
The sweater does get very many compliments, I agree.
There’s nothing wrong with matchy-matchy. It’s sophisticated and polished and shows that you made an effort.
For me while growing up, matching things like shoes and bags meant you had money. Otherwise you couldn’t afford it. Especially not when it was in any other colour but black.
Beautiful photo shoot! I love how your paired the sweater with the flares. I have been having a thing for flares as well, and love them paired with heeled booties! You look fantastic and oh-so chic!
Actually I never thought I would ever buy them again as they are not easy to style when you have an inverted triangle shape. But with different sweater shapes than in the seventies and eighties, I can create outfits which work.
Thank you for your blog – I love seeing the photos of you around The Netherlands – a country we so enjoy visiting- also for introducing me to yet more wonderful Dutch shoes, a serious and expensive habit of mine!! Happy Christmas.
I will help you along with your expensive habit haha. I found a new brand and they are magnificent. So easy to walk on, so soft. Modern with heel, yet they feel flat. Here is the link to their site.

Ha Ha, yes I succumbed – the black booties from Eijk, wonderful.
I just bought another pair: pink booties with crocodile print.
No no I must not look !!!!
Hahaha… I so recognize this LOL
Great sweater, cute jeans, nice boots. This outfit is a total winner. The cherry on top is the big smile on your face!
Ahhhh you are so sweet. I am wearing this outfit gladly.
Your legs look utterly fabulous in those jeans, Greetje! And I love the graphic rose – very simple, yet oh so very striking!
The laughing photo is wonderful – we all need a man who can make us laugh! And I like his arty photos – both of them!
http://petitesilvervixen.blogspot.co.uk/
Ron is a creative man. He does not particularly like taking my outfit photos but his urge to help me with the blog is bigger.
And my legs…. well, because you all point this out so much I start to appreciate them more. When you have something, you tend to take it for granted.
Again great pictures Greetje, I almost can hear you laughing!
I also took a picture of a woman, called Joke, in this top. You can see it on my blog:http://www.misjab.nl/joke-koning/
It’s funny to see that this top suits two totally different women!
Oh what fun! Now that woman is a good example of great styling over 40. I am in good company. Thanks for the link.
I’m quite certain that your legs have grown longer since the last time you posted Greetje! Simply fab, these jeans are on you! Love the top too!
Ron’s photos are inspiring!
I have checked… You are right, they did grow 4 inches hahaha.
Lovely outfit, so simple but so well put together and NO you don’t look like hulk on that back photo, it’s actually sexy ,xoxo BING.
Thank you Bing. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the photo of my back. I wouldn’t go as far as sexy, but if you say so… ?
Ron’s creativity is showing here! I love your sweater, Greetje. After all, you are BLOOMING!
You really know how to rock a pair of jeans, front and back!
That I even rock jeans from the back is new to me haha.
Greetje, you’ve worn some pretty cool looks, but this one is my new favorite. I don’t casually use the word chic, because I think it’s over-used and used out of context. But in this case, my dear, you look uber chic.
ps.
The sight of that cruise ship makes me want to book a cruise to Mexico.
Well… Glenda, such praise coming from you.. I feel all proud. Thank you. And I hope your book will sell so well, you can book a cruise to Mexico.
Just saw your comment. Well I see the bag, boots, watch (my personal favorite style. I bought it for Dean last Christmas and I received this style of watch as a graduation gift myself.) and perfect jeans as classic. I mean this in a good way because they all will stand the test of time. This is what a like about so many of the European woman, style wise. I think adding one on trend piece, like this top, looks just right to my eyes.
I agree. Too much of a good thing can overdo it. I was a big fan of this watch but couldn’t afford it. Then I was able to buy it second hand for a quarter of the price. Yay!
And dearest Ann… I will always assume you mean things in a good way.
Well don’t you look like the tall leggy model here? Those jeans truly emphasize your enviable lean and long legs. I adore the graphic on the top. Normally I’m not a fan of the neoprene because it is so bulky but I actually really like how it looked, especially from the back.
As always I enjoy Ron’s photography and your smiling face : )

Suzanne
We all choose things which do our figure justice. These bulky sweaters hang beautifully on a tall woman. Dan chose it for me, so the credits should really go to her. I just thought of combining it with the jeans, which proves I am getting better. Yay.
I will pass the compliments on to Ron.
Great outfit! I like the classic accessories with your creative top and you wear these jeans so perfectly.
Thank you… I am just puzzled about the classic accessories? Which ones? The watch?
This is a fun look! I tend to shy away from those neoprene tops as they don’t look good on me. But you wear it very well and the flower print really stands out. I have what they call Bitchy Resting Face, and tend to look kind of pissed off if I’m not smiling. 😉 But you have such a great smile, so why not show it off?
I show my smile for exactly the same reason Susan. I look very angry (or old and tired) when I am not smiling. Glad you like the top. It is something which is good for me as I am tall (I don’t want to rub it in…).
When I saw the walking photo, I thought, “What a beautiful, relaxed natural smile!”
I wouldn’t call the boot and cuff color matchy. I would say it ties the outfit together. If I were looking at the outfit without shoes, I would have suggested using shoes in on of the outfit’s less prominent colors or matching the jeans. I think you made a good choice.
Good point Nethwen… it ties the outfit together. Very true. The choice for the boots was really made because they were the only ones with heels high enough and with a shape which suited the jeans. Sometimes, being restricted can be a good thing.
Thanks for commenting.
Personally I wouldn’t call the greys matchy…I’d say more coordinating!! And you look fabulous…cold or not! (How could you not with those long legs—can you say jealousy??)
And that’s why my husband married me—because I laughed at all his jokes (that and the cheesecake I used to bake him)!! Jodie

Cooking and laughing at their jokes… gets you a long way to his heart. I won’t mention the third way. Children might be reading this hahaha.

You look fantastic and you husband is getting better and better pics

What a wonderful post dear 🙂 I wish you a happy healthy 2016 with lots of fun!

Thank you Maria. I checked your blog and was a bit puzzled how you stumbled upon my blog haha.
Nice look and great pics Ron took. Both of you, of the surroundings and the detail pictures of the ropes.
When Ron does the photography I always include one of his “arty pictures”. He has a good eye for that and I think it is entertaining.
I would laugh too if my man did a Jack-in-the-box appearance hahahahaha see??? He’s not my man and I wasn’t the startled one yet here I am laughing with you 🙂 I love love LOVE that sweater. It’s so quirky and pretty, without being the slightest bit kiddy girlish, and that’s what appeals to me most. You look happy and confident and comfortable, Greetje, best ingredients ever for the bestest photo shoot.
xo Sheela xo
p/s I really like Ron’s first picture, with the rope going through. Very abstract.
When it comes to general knowledge, creativity and art, Ron is far superior. I am very glad he is helping me with the blog pictures. Glad you like my outfit.

These jeans are such a winner – I would show off my legs too if they were as long and lean as yours. I love the shot of your rear, it reminds me of a prize we have in the UK titled “Rear of the year” and you’d be my nomination. This rose top is very simple and effective with the casual look of the jeans. You wear things that look so elegant and understated – it’s a style that really suits you.

I have ro say that my style has changed quite a bit since I started blogging. This new style was always there but didn’t show itself that often. You can see that in my 2013 outfits. And to be nominated for rear of the year is very funny. Both because of the silliness of the competition and because I always find my rear my worst feature. My scrawny little arse I call it haha.
Great sweater, cute jeans, nice boots. This outfit is a total winner. The cherry on top is the big smile on your face!

Incredible jeans, those are the ones you bought that day in Vancouver, right? You are the perfect model for flair jeans. Actually, let’s be honest, you are the perfect model for jeans period! Great way to pair them for a fun outing and superb background.
I must disagree with you on your natural look photo because as you said, you laugh often and easily, therefore your most natural look is that fun and smiling Greetje that we all love.
And I absolutely love Ron’s art photo’s both of them.
Yes, these are the Vancouver jeans. And I will admit, jeans are my friends. I will milk them to the bone. (Is that the right expression?) Thank you for all your lovely compliments and I will pass the last one on to Ron.
