Shopping SaturdayMy face is a bit silly in this picture. It was the start of another glorious Shopping Saturday with my friends Sabine and Anke. As the knee wasn’t up to shopping (story is getting old) we decided (or I dictated) to shop in Haarlem. That way I could travel by bike instead of walking. Riding a bike is good for the knee. We started in a place called Heemstede which is glued to Haarlem, as we had done before in February 2017 (see this post).

The one shop definitely worth visiting is Joe&Brown (Zandvoortselaan 8A, Heemstede). Again we spent at least one and a half hour in there. As Sabine and Anke entered the shop I had a “WOW” moment. They looked so good.

Below: Anke. She has no problem with wide cropped trousers at all. (After my “maiden outfit” last week, neither have I anymore.) An easy style for shopping, nevertheless very elegant.

Anke

Below: Sabine in a splendid combination. I loved her trousers. My colour, my kind of trousers.

Sabine

Below: Sabine directed me to the middle of the street “because the green trees will make a lovely background”. True…

Shopping Saturday

Below: … but I nearly got run over when a car bolted around the corner. AAgghh! Wearing my AR.RT top (here with my wide black trousers) and my favourite Denham jeans which are getting “distressed” all by themselves, which I don’t want. The black flat shoes (so comfortable!) are the Molly loafers by EIJK.

Shopping Saturday

Below: Right! Let’s hit the store girls. Lots of long jumpsuits and maxi dresses.

Shopping Saturday

Below: Anke was tempted by this leopard maxi dress and so was I. Nevertheless, we both left it in the shop. Chicken.

Anke

Below: Just a peek of one of the swell shop owners on the left. She is going to hate me for this picture haha. (Sorry dear.)

Shopping Saturday

Below: Lots of things to try on.

Anke

Below: Sabine was complaining she always goes for knitted stuff even when summer is on the doorstep. But this baby blue sweater was too good to pass up. She is still regretting having left a soft yellow cardigan in the shop last time we were here. So the blue one came home with her.

Sabine

Below: Blue is really her colour. Look at that beautiful ring she is wearing. I think this is a pretty good shot. Lovely eyes to match the ring.

Sabine

Below: Anke tried this dress but we all decided against it. Nice dress but not for her.

Anke

Below: She finds her earrings rather classic but I just think they are very good.

Anke

Below: This is the knock-out outfit Anke bought. Including the shoes. (I bought them too, such a copy cat.) The jumpsuit (overall) needed some adjusting: roll up the legs, pull the string a bit more so it sits higher, leave the top open a bit more. But then it was perfect. Especially with the espadrilles: still a bit of a heel, same colour as the overall thereby elongating the leg and casual enough for the outfit. Perfect shoes. I loved them which is strange as I hate espadrilles. But these are nice, they are cloth and not leather (no blisters) and I have a lot of blue clothes.

Anke

Below: Sabine went for these jeans. The bottom of the legs made them attractive and the fit was great. My camera obviously did not focus on her but you can still see the jeans.

Sabine

Below: Anke bought this soft knit jumper in a pale goldy colour. Sabine decided against the white with yellow shirt, which was a bit tight around the arms.

Anke and Sabine

Below: No I did not buy this one. We felt it made my shoulders look very broad which is not visible in this photo. Furthermore I would always have to wear a top underneath it as I don’t want to show the wrinkles on my chest. And a top underneath it would probably spoil the look.

Shopping Saturday

Below: We had already paid when Anke spotted this sweater. Too cute to leave behind. Good shot of her earrings as well.

Anke

Below: Before we left for lunch in Haarlem, my new sunglasses were discussed. They make me look like Anna Wintour. Oops, lipstick on my tooth.

Shopping Saturday

Below: Close-up of my flat black Molly loafers by EIJK. Very good for shopping. I bought them a little bit too big because I wanted to fit my support soles in them. Which I don’t use anymore. Would have been better fitted one size smaller, but still nice.

Below: LUNCH. Lovely lunch place called Meneer Frans in the centre of Haarlem. We were lucky to find a seat outside underneath a parasol. I cycled so I was there much quicker and while waiting for the other two, I claimed the best table as soon as it became available.

Below: I am in love with Sabine’s ring.

Shopping Saturday

After lunch our next stop was Levv, Schagchelstraat 39 in Haarlem. I had already stocked up at this shop the month before (….). My orange trouser suit from last week is from there.

Below: Anke in a shade of blue that becomes her. After I took this picture, we found out it looks even better tucked in at the front (proportions!).

Anke

Below: Sabine “needed” tops and this sweet white knitted (again) top came home with her.

Sabine

Below: “What does it look like from the back?” Sabine goofing.

Sabine

Below: I was looking for trousers in a fun colour and chose these red ones. They are rather skinny and I am trying to buy trousers a little less skinny these days but they were so comfortable I succumbed. The sweater stayed behind but I did buy another one. Not going to show you as I am saving it for another post.

Shopping Saturday

Below: “But look what happens when I reach for something?!” Easy to solve with a matching tank top of course. See how narrow my hips are? I am like a boy.

Shopping Saturday

Below: As we were goofing, Jacky, the owner of the stop, decided to join in the fun. All of a sudden she did a split !! She is 50 and had no warm-up and did a split!! We were in awe. Talking about lithe.

And that is the end. Both shop owners of Joe & Brown and Levv are really good. They let you get on when you want to and help you with good advice and different sizes when you need it.

The afternoon ended abruptly when Sabine got a call that her son had broken his finger. No worries, everything is just fine now, but you can imagine that she was needed elsewhere.
