Red and white palazzo co-ord

Red and white palazzo co-ord

Finally, the weather was warm enough to wear this red and white palazzo co-ord. The trousers and the shirt are the fifth and sixth items from my Paris haul. Can you remember the other items I found there at great bargain prices? To jog your memory, they were my blue and white pleated cardigan, my grey floral co-ord (that’s 2), and my white bomber jacket. And then this red and white palazzo co-ord.

All these items I found within half an hour at Addicted, a small boutique at Rue du Temple 29. Addicted doesn’t have a website but they do have an Instagram account. If you look at their Instagram account you’d think “NO WAY, this is for young extroverts”. But they do have items that are for every age, extrovert or introvert. Be sure to follow the link or search for @addictedparis. A friend of mine searched for @addicted without the ‘paris’ addition and got to see a lot of naked men haha.

Questions

Before we continue, I have two questions for you, my dear readers.

  1. I noticed that the number of comments on a post has gone down to 20% of the amount I used to get in 2018. In March 2018 I introduced a comment service you had to register to, called Disqus. Quickly I saw the comment numbers drop and I changed back to “anybody can comment”. Only the numbers never picked up again. Don’t get me wrong, I am not pitiful but I am curious as to know why.
NOTE: after the overwhelming amount of comments on this question, I can conclude that you are still happy with my content. Now I have the task to reply to the 80 comments haha. Be careful what you wish for.

  2. Then about the content. Are you still happy with it? If you are not, what would you like me to change? Shorter posts? Drop the “What happened in my life”? Or would you like that section more as a story instead of a day-to-day report? (An example of that in this post.)

I would love some input to improve my posts.

Back to the red and wite palazzo co-ord

Marjolein and I did the photo shoot for this post on the hottest day of the week. Temperatures got to 38°C/100.4F which led us to a park with trees for some shade.

Below: In this park was the cutest little cottage which was supposed to be a restaurant with a shady garden terrace at the back.

Lovely little cottage

However, the restaurant was no more. We couldn’t believe it was closed and were ever so disappointed.

Below: It made a nice background though and we carefully avoided the signs CLOSED and FOR SALE in the photo.

Red and white palazzo co-ord

Below: The back of the co-ord. It is such a good outfit for hot weather because it is loose.

Below: When we turned round, we saw that there were new inhabitants in the park. Or have they always been there?

Gnomes

Below: This little man was old and grey though not frightened of me.

Gnome under a tree

Below: My, my, there was a whole gnome village.

Gnome village

Below: They were curious and one came to see what we were up to.

Red and white palazzo co-ord

Below: I sat down on a tree trunk near the village, next to a gnome with a red and white toadstool. I felt he was a kindred soul.
I combined the red and white of the outfit with black accessories like the earrings, bracelet, bag and sandals.

Below: The friendly gnome allowed me to borrow the toadstool. The earrings are visible from the side as you can see above, but not as good when face on (below).

Below: There was another doggie in the park. This lady shared our disappointment over the closed restaurant and gave us tips for a restaurant on the beach boulevard.

Below: We said goodbye to the sweet cottage and headed for the beach.

Below: Usually on a hot day the problem is parking near the beach. We were lucky as a brand-new parking garage had opened exactly where we wanted to be. There was more than enough space and it meant that the car was in a cool place instead of in the burning sun.

Below: After a delicious lunch we walked back and saw this merry-go-round. Couldn’t resist taking a photo.

Red and white palazzo co-ord

Below: Opposite the parking garage entrance was a shop Marjolein favours. So, we went in. She didn’t buy this blouse but is still thinking about it.

Marjolein shopping

Below: I was a good girl and didn’t try or buy anything. The sandals I am wearing ought to be great for hot weather but one spot, right on top of my feet, is giving me blisters. I tried a couple of things to soften that spot, but the cobbler has to fix it.

I am sure this PJ co-ord will serve me well.

What happened in my life this week

First of all, some photos of plants in our garden. The warmth and rain made everything bloom.

Below: Hydrangea Annabelle.

Below: Lilies.

Lilies

Below: I have seen many names for this orange plant, but I don’t know which one is the right one. My gardening skills are none. In fact, I am not allowed to do anything in the garden but pick up the leaves as I cannot see the difference between a plant and weed. So, don’t provide me with the name of this plant, it is useless haha.

On the 30th of August we will have another street party in our street. I like these things as I like to interact with people and some neighbours bring good food to the table. The only thing I do, is ask the city council permission to block the street for a couple of hours. Every year they add new demands for such an event. This year we needed to block the street with two fences (and then the fence requirements followed). We could get them for free but had to pick these big things up with a pick-up truck or so, between 3 and 5 pm on a Friday and return them at the same time on a Monday. I don’t know anyone with a vehicle like that who is free on these hours. It made me decide to make one myself. Of course that won’t be good enough, it is not reflecting for one, but it shows my good will. Ron and I started on it as I couldn’t do it without him. It is coming along fine.
Below: On the right you see all the necessary tools and on the left you see the progress. Particularly the stop sign isn’t looking too bad. All material, except the paint, came from building containers.

Fence with sign.

The screen protector of my iPhone cracked while being busy with the above work and that was the third screen protector…agghhh. This time I bought one from Apple which I think is better.

Below: A dress I longed for quite badly, arrived and…disappointed. It is the Freya Kimono Red dress from Eiko ai. Such a beauty but for me, a couple of things were no good. The split at the front went up quite high. If I sat down, the dress revealed more…well, everything really, I did not want to show. And because of my ample bosom (80D) the dress rose up, the waistband wasn’t at my waist but higher and that made me look bigger than I am. So, I had to send it back. 😭😭 On another woman it will be perfect, as the website shows. (PS I didn’t iron it.) After I got my return label and packed everything again, I found another way of wearing it, which might have worked on me. Rats. I sent it back anyway as the slit problem would not have been solved and Ron wasn’t keen on the dress.

Tuesday the temperature was a bit lower and I could wear my multicoloured jacket again. Like I thought, this jacket is so easy to use with my wide jeans (below). So good. (Link to original post.)

Multicoloured jacket with jeans

One day, around lunchtime, after running some errands I was peckish and passed a bakery. So stupid. You should never leave the house around lunchtime or dinnertime if you haven’t eaten yet. You are bound to eat something while you are out and it will have more calories than you want.
In my case it was a ham and cheese croissant. The woman who got served before me, sat on a bench in front of the bakery eating her little sin. I decided to sit next to her and eat mine. Less of a mess. We got chatting. Here name was Hannah and it turned out we had a lot in common so we chatted for three quarters of an hour. I love these unexpected interactions.

To prove that I can do elegant too, I wore my orange dress (below) the day I went to the hair salon to talk about my hairpiece. It was not behaving how I wanted it to. They gave me some good (and free) advice.
(Link to original post of 2020 with this dress, worn slightly differently.)

Orange dress

That afternoon Ron and I did some errands downtown and sure enough, he enthused me to try some fancy white cowboy boots I had no plans to buy. The guy is such an enabler. Anyway, I was allowed to take them home without paying and try them on with my clothes. If I didn’t want them, I could return them 3 days later. (The jury is still out.)
The rest of the afternoon we spent on a terrace and later, eating chips (below). It was a happy day.

Sunny afternoon

  1. Bold yet breezy! ❤️🤍 The red and white palazzo cord strikes a perfect harmony between statement style and effortless comfort—ideal for turning heads while staying cool.

    1. Exactly as you said it, bold yet breezy. It is so comfortable to wear. Thanks for the compliment.

  2. Dear Greetje, I was lucky enough to be on a Mediterranean cruise recently and we met this lovely Dutch couple from the south, near Brussels. I nearly said I know this lovely woman from Haarlem and then realised I don’t really know you, I just feel like l do. Please don’t change a thing, that is the charm of reading your blog, it is interesting and funny and stylish too. I especially like the glimpses of life in another country that is so different from Australia and appreciate the effort you go to each week. I’m a lurker, not a commenter, and so will try to be more vocal (imagine that, these days 😂) so you know we all appreciate you. Cheers Julie

    1. Thank you very much for commenting, you lurker haha. And don’t worry, you don’t have to comment any more. It wasn’t the number of comments itself that worried me, it was the fear I wasn’t offering the right content. Now that I know I am the right track, my mind is at ease and I don’t need any more confirmation. You can go back to lurking and please enjoy it. I will not change anything.

Omg so sorry not to have commented earlier! Please do not change or ever leave
    Love your blogs always
    Donna

    1. Don’t you worry about not commenting earlier. A hundred readers asked me the same as you do. “Do not change anything”. And I won’t my dear queen. Gosh, you were here on such a good Queen’s Day. It is now King’s Day and on the 27th of April but sooooo busy. Not funny anymore. Not that our king can help that. There are always a few tourists with an outdated Lonely Planet who arrive on the 30th of April haha.

  4. I would be very cross indeed if you decided to stop blogging. 😉 Love from Australia. Xx

    1. Hahaha, and we don’t want to make you cross, right? Don’t worry Cathy. I still get too much joy out of creating these posts to stop.

  5. What? no picture of the cowboy boots you “might” buy? I love your outfits, all of them, so pretty and flowy. That dress you sent back? Good call – the fabric looks cheap, and a too-high slit is no good.
Love seeing all the pictures, and the little gnomes are so cute!

I’ve noticed that blog comments have substantially dropped, post-pandemic. They always dip in the summer too, as people are on vacation. I like your posts as is!

    1. Patience, my dear. The cowboy boots will get their moment. The fabric of the dress I sent back wasn’t cheap in reality. It is a good brand, I just should have ironed it. But indeed, a too-high slit is no good. It might have been that if I folded the dress in the way I didn’t, that the slit would not have been a problem (more material at the front) but Ron didn’t like it, so I didn’t bother.
After all the lovely reactions to my questions, I am not worried about the number of comments any longer. And I won’t change the format.

  6. I really love this simple yet glamorous look. It compliments your skin perfectly.

    1. That is probably because it is mainly red and red is a good colour for me near my face. Thanks for the compliment.

  7. My first thought when I saw the your photo at the top of this weeks blog was WOW! What pizazz. You have a playful spirit that shines through.
I rarely comment because I feel I would be saying the same thing over and over.
It’s obvious your attention to detail as you craft your blog. Always such beautiful photos. I love living vicariously with you and your friends, what a good time you all have. With your fashion choices you give me ideas. I especially love the photos of the buildings. Whenever I go to a new city I take pictures of buildings/architectural details.
I can’t give any suggestions for changes, I am happy with the way things are, you are the highlight of my Saturday reading.
    Thank you Greetje.

    1. Thanks for your comment Marguerite, for taking the time to write this rare one. And such a lovely one for me to read (made me blush). My blog being the highlight of your Saturday reading is a great honour. I won’t change a thing as everybody requested me not to haha.

  9. The gnomes are charming. What a neat little find! Glad you and Marjolein had a fun day.

    1. We were glad that the gnomes were there when we found out that the cute restaurant with its terrace was closed. Just trees as background is a bit boring. Marjolein and I always have a fun day when we are together. We go back such a long way, 50 years. AAAgggh.

  10. Hello Greetje! I love your blog enough that I have gone back to the beginning and read every one of them. Sadly, now I have to wait an entire week to see the next one. Your consistency AND variety are the things I truly enjoy, you let us readers feel like dear friends, you are such a gift!

    1. You have WHAT??!! Reas every post from the beginning? That is 745 posts! You cannot be serious.
When you arrived at 2012 you must have had a good laugh.
I am indeed very consistent as I learned that from another blogger when I started. Be consistent so your audience can count on you. And I have never missed a week in all those years (12 1/2). Discipline is my middle name. Unless it comes to ‘not buying any more clothes’; then the discipline flies right out the window.
Thank you very much for your kind words. Much appreciated.

Love your blog. I’ve not commented in a while due to life events. Your blog is always a source of joy and inspiration.

    1. Life events often get in the way of things. It is a fact of life. Don’t you worry about it. It is not that I want a huge amount of comments (like this week…AAAghh). I just wanted to know whether you still liked the content. So thank you for your kind feedback.

I look forward to your blog every week! Love it just as it is. Thank you for all the work you do to entertain and inform us.

    1. It is the other way around Joanne…thank YOU for reading and appreciating my blog. Creating it gives me so much joy. I just wanted to know whether you all still liked what I offered. And apparently you do. Yay. Thanks for your feedback.

  13. I am a regular Monday morning reader (USA). Several weeks ago, my firewall blocked your website and I was quite disappointed that I couldn’t read your blog. Lucky for me, I kept trying and you’re back in the rotation. I never comment, but I do enjoy your outfits and sharing the backgrounds of your photos and what you’ve been doing that week. Please continue! You were missed by me when I couldn’t access!

    1. Internet glitches on your side aren’t a major problem and usually solved in a reasonable amount of time. Glitches on my side can be dangerous. As in “Where are my posts? Where is my blog?”
Thank you for putting in the effort to comment this time. You don’t have to in the future haha. I just wanted to know whether everybody was happy with the content. And you all are. YAY.

Dear Greetje, as you may know I started trawling ‘fashion blogs for older women’ in 2023 as a hopeful alternative to shopping as my money was running out; with everything going on-line the opportunities for windw-shopping around London were going down! YOURS is now the only blog which has lasted for me, after all those try-outs. I still get great pleasure from clothes and you are always so honest in telling us how to make them work (and admitting that sometimes they don’t). Like several of your other followers I’m now less daring in my own clothes choices, so your blog is a bit like an art gallery. Look at those extraordinary white trainers with a kind of frill, that you wore in one of the pix above…
Actually I was going to tell you — as a complete non-gardener who luckily has got a beautiful old garden to enjoy in this hot weather — the plant you mention is called a Day Lily in English (Hemerocallis in Latin I see, and ‘not a real lily’, it comes from East Asia originally ). The reason I have those day lilies brightening up my garden with orange flashes is that I have a neighbour who has a tiny but wonderful garden. Every time her plants and bulbs and cuttings overflow she gives me the surplus! She was born in Cyprus and is an architect, getting skills both ways..
Greetje, my health is not great so if you don’t hear from me in future that will be the reason and not because I’ve gone off your blog. I sometimes feel guilty that you always reply so kindly, so don’t feel you must every time. My best to you and your lovely friends too.

    1. I know Amanda, you trawled me haha.
As an extreme extrovert and pretty honest, I like to keep my blog the same. Of course, pretty pictures of myself are nicer than ugly ones (for me) but I don’t photoshop any wrinkles or such. A bit of reality is what we all need.
What puzzled me in your comment is the sentence “I’m now less daring in my own clothes choices”. WHY?? Did someone threaten to shoot you if you are more daring? You say you still get great pleasure from clothes. That doesn’t rhyme to me. It is the word “now” in that sentence that triggered me. Or perhaps it is because there is more available here in actual brick and mortar shops, so you can try more and see whether it suits you?
The white trainers with the frill…my husband made a very saucy remark about them which made me laugh. But I cannot repeat that haha.
You are lucky with your gardening neighbour.
Don’t ever be sorry you do not comment. Life just gets in the way and I know that. It happens to me too. But thank you for making the effort to comment this time.

  15. Hi Greetje, I love reading your posts on Monday morning here in Australia and seeing what you’re wearing and taking a tour of your part of the world. You make a positive beginning to the week for me and don’t change a thing. Cheers, Doreen

    1. Readers from Australia and Africa always surprise me as our seasons are the opposite. It is winter where you are in summer here. So the relevancy of the clothes is none. But as I gather from other readers it seems that there is enough variety in the rest of the post to make reading worthwhile. And that makes me very happy. I promise I won’t change a thing. Thank you for your feedback Doreen.

  16. Another silent but very happy reader here- keep doing what you do
and I look forward to reading your blog every weekend. Thank you.

    1. Thank you Helen for writing this time. I don’t mind that there are not a lot of comments, as long as it is not caused by discontentment.
But I got such a shower of love and appreciation this post, that I am not worried any longer.

  17. Love your blog – don’t change a thing!

    1. Thanks for the short but sweet message Margaret. I promise, I won’t change a thing.

  18. To echo others comments, I love your blog just the way it is and always go all the way to the bottom to see what you have done in a week. Its like seeing what an old friend is up to, even though I only know you virtually.
I think there is so much content and so much going one in the world that has changed the landscape for comments. Its not really possible to compare previous years experience to whats happening in 2025.
Keep up the good work, you always give me good ideas and entertainment. Your authenticity as a person shines through!
PS I also love Marjolein(stylish), Ron (funny) and all your other friends.

    1. I think you are right Catherine, 2025 is different then so many years ago. And it isn’t that I want to receive a lot of comments, as long as the lack of them, is not caused by discontentment. And it isn’t which makes me very happy. I will forward your compliments to Marjolein and Ron and will not change a thing to the blog.

  19. I love your posts. When I read them, it feels like I’m receiving emails from a friend.

    1. That is such a huge compliment Linda. I must be doing something right. Thank you for this sweet message.

  20. Please keep up what you are doing. Every other blog has monetized with nothing but sales pitches and links to buy things. Yours is more real and I trust that you are you, not paid with a lot of free merchandise to promote products all the time. I live in the US but like reading about your life. And you’re fun!

    1. You are right Linda, I only place links to brands to avoid the question “Where did you get that from?” Although a lot is from Dutch shops and 65% of my readers are American. No, I don’t earn a penny with my blog, it is just costing me money. There is no temptation to accept money or clothes either, as my audience is only about 4,500 unique visitors each month (unique means you are counted as one, even though you visit my blog 4 times that month). That is too little to get serious cash as advertisers look at those numbers. And for just a few pennies it isn’t worth it to monetize. So, my little numbers keep me humble and my blog free from influence. I must be the last of the Mohicans haha.
Thank you for your feedback and the compliments. I won’t change my blog, promise.

Hello, Linda from Canada here: I always read, but never comment. Love your blog, it’s beautiful, colourful and full of joy and life. Perfect as it is.

    1. Thank you Linda, for making an exception and comment this time. I am not concerned about the number of comments really. I was just concerned they were a sign that the content of my blog wasn’t interesting enough. Now that I know that you all love the content and don’t want me to change anything, I am very happy and will continue as always.

  22. Long time reader and occasional commenter here. I enjoy all your content so much… the clothes, the sharing of life, the friends, the scenes of and lifestyle you enjoy! Because of you and your blog we are researching and planning a trip to the Netherlands (for me) and Germany (for husband to enjoy altbier). Of course there will be visits to some ‘touristy’ places but your blog will help us travel the way we enjoy, by immersing ourselves into the charm and beauty of the everyday life of the area. Thank you and don’t change ❤️

    1. PS, I hope you will be posting from the trip you and Ron took to shop for a new light fixture. I looked up the city and it is charming, which means I want to go there too. 😁. So, would like to see from your perspective, if that’s not asking too much.

      1. Yes, next Saturday you will see more of our trip to shop for a new light fixture. But if you click the links at the bottom of the post ‘Golden yellow blouse as a jacket’, you will probablly see more of Alkmaar.

    2. Gosh, it is a pity we already have so many tourists, otherwise I might claim a fee for attracting tourists haha. I hope you will have a lovely time in the Netherlands and Germany. And nice weather.
I promise, I won’t change my blog. Thank you very much for your feedback and your lovely compliments.

  23. Dear Greetje,
Like many, I’m part of the silent majority here! Rarely comment, but always read (RCBAR!)
I love reading about your day to day life, the fashion, the shopping and your corner of the world. Love how you keep it ‘real’.
So thank you for sharing so much of yourself. Your blog is truly appreciated and if you ever doubt it again, just ask all us RCBARs to get our fingers on the keyboard and post.

    1. Whahaha, you just invented a new abbreviation: RCBAR. Brilliant. I love you RCBARs. Thank you Susan, for making an exception and comment. Also, thank you for the compliments. Both highly appreciated.

  24. Dear Greetje, I live in Australia and look forward to reading your blog each Sunday our time. I enjoy all aspects of it: your style, the locations, your friends, your week and your excellent commentary and humour. I am sorry that I don’t comment. I have been reading for many years. I will comment more in the future. Thank you for your excellent blog and for all the time and effort that you put into it. Naomi

    1. Don’t worry Naomi, you don’t have to comment more in future. That wasn’t why I raised the questions. I just wanted to know whether I had to improve something. Turns out, I don’t. Everybody is asking me not to change anything. It is good to know that I am on the right track. Thank you for your contribution and for your loyal readership.

  25. I live in Suffolk in England and I look forward every week to your blog – my absolute favourite. I love the photos of places you visit and hearing about your various ‘doings’ during the week. I also love seeing your outfits which are completely the opposite to anything I would wear.

    1. Hahaha, my outfits are completely the opposite of anything you would wear. So funny. I hear that more and often wondered why you would follow my blog then. What I gather from the comments, it is “the whole package” as someone put it. Apparently I managed to create a sort of a digital weekly mini magazine. Which makes me proud. Thank you for all your kind words and I will continue the blog as before.

  26. Just goes to show how much we love you <3

    1. Thank you very much darling. And for your efforts to edit my posts EVERY week for so many years already. If the language isn’t with mistakes, it reads so much better.

  27. Really like your new co-ord. Quite a striking outfit which looks so good! Personally, I don’t think you need to change anything with your posts. I enjoy the outfit pics, the scenery pics, the news from your daily life, your outings with your friends etc.

    1. Thank you for your comment and the nice compliments Bronwyn. And also for your frequent commenting. Not necessary but still nice.
I won’t change a thing about the blog.

  28. I’m a longtime reader and look forward to reading your blog but rarely comment, sorry. I very much enjoy the fashion, scenic locations, your travel, friends, and sharing what happened in your day. It’s a fun glimpse into your part of the world – I’m in California, US. Please don’t change a thing! 💗

    1. Thank you for reading my blog for such a long time. No need to comment in future (unless you feel the urge, of course LOL).
I won’t change a thing. Promise. But I am glad with your comment now.

  29. If confirmation were needed you have it by the bucket load. Don’t change a thing Greetje. …. your blog is popular and successful.

I look forward to your blog every week and really enjoy your enthusiasm for fashion, your marvelous friends, the travelogue to city and towns I won’t be able to visit in person and the news about what you did during the week. Please don’t change a thing. Thanks for asking for comments — now that I know how many others — from far and wide — are reading along with me, it will add a new dimension of pleasure to Saturday mornings. Hugs from Seattle.

    1. About 4.500 unique visitors a month read my blog. (Unique visitors means if you visit my blog 4 times that month, you will be counted as 1). Mostly people from America, followed by the UK, Canada and Australia. Not that many from the Netherlands haha. That’s what you get when you write in English. Thank you for your feedback and I won’t change anything.

  31. Love your posts and please Do continue with “ what happened in your life”.
Love all the photos of picturesque European places I dream of visiting.
Clothes are also an inspiration- you’re braver than I am with colours and shapes and they always look good

    1. You don’t have to be brave, Margaret, to wear more colours and shapes. Just do what looks good to you in the mirror and don’t worry about what people might think of it. Usually they don’t think anything and are more interested in themselves. And if you get a comment (good or bad), it is just their perspective, their taste, fear, hope. Nothing to do with how you look. Take my barrel jeans for instance…haters and lovers. I don’t care, I like it and that is the only thing that counts. I hope I inspire you some more and I will continue as I have.

  32. Hello Greetje,

I have been reading your blog for many years. I found you from Susan’s website. Although our fashion taste is very different, I still find it interesting to see. My family emigrated from the Netherlands so I find the scenery, food, and what you did in the week most interesting. I have rarely commented as I suppose what I have to say might not be interesting to you. I have to tell you that the world is very small though. I live in Canada and last year we went to France and one day to the market in Ilse de la Sorgue. You walked past me on the street at lunchtime but I was too shocked to say hello and I didn’t want to bother you but I wish I had! I did enjoy your photos of that trip! Just keep on what you are doing Greetje and don’t change anything. Thank you for all the time you spend on creating it for our enjoyment.

    1. Susan has indeed sent me quite a lot of readers (so good).
You saw me in Ilse sur la Sorgue and didn’t say hello??!! What a shame. I would have been so flattered that someone would recognise me from my blog. So thank you very much for this comment, Alice. Now I know haha.
And I won’t change a thing about my blog.

Hello Greetje, I’ve never commented before but as you asked…
Your blog is waiting for me every Sunday morning to enjoy while eating breakfast. I was in the Netherlands a few years ago for a wonderful holiday with friends and now relive it through your stories. Give your Ron a hug from me, he’s a sweetie.
Don’t change a thing, I enjoy it all.

    1. Thank you very much Carolyn for this feedback. Don’t worry, you don’t have to comment again (unless you feel the urge haha) and I won’t change a thing. Will tell Ron he is a sweetie and hope he won’t get conceited.

  34. I love your blog! I love your clothes ( wish I was tall too). Loved the year of limited shopping…inspired.

    1. Thanks Barbara. So good to know I am on the right track with my blog. As for the year of limited shopping…I wish I could have kept that up this year as well, but I already fell off the wagon in February and packed it in for this year. Perhaps next year again? I do think it was a good thing to do; made me more critical.

  35. Like everyone else. You do you the way that feels best to you.
I’m happy with your personal style.
I love seeing the architecture of the towns you visit.
Your blog is unique. Keep it that way

    1. Thank you very much for your comment. Who doesn’t want to be unique? I will surely keep my blog the way it is now.

  36. I rarely comment but I do look forward to your posts each week. You have a totally different style than mine but I love seeing your outfits and how you style them. I like to read what you did each week and your pictures of the towns and cities that you go to for photo shoots. I was to Amsterdam once at the end of a river cruise and hope to return some day.

    1. Than it is extra special that you commented this time. Thank you for that. Apparently my blog has gone beyond outfits which I like, even though outfits will always be the first thing I’ll show. I am a clothes’ addict.

  37. I have never commented before but wanted to answer your request. I very much enjoy your posts. Having lived in Europe most of my life (France and Germany) but now retired in the USA. I love your stories and lovely photos of life in Holland. It brings back lots of memories .

    1. The backgrounds of my outfit photos create more interest I think, than just the outfit against a wall. Glad you enjoy this and thank you very much for making the effort to comment this time. I got my feedback and won’t change anything.

  38. I have been reading your blog for years but have only commented a few times. Interesting to see how several have said they found your blog through Susan’s; for me it is the other way around. As has been said many times here, please keep the blog basically as it is. It is hard to explain but I look forward to your blog each Saturday (and previously on Sunday), even though I have a very different fashion style to you (I agree with Gee about the barrel jeans. Ha!) It is not your outfits that draw me in, as a rule, but the whole “package:” the combination of fashion, friends, architecture, lifestyle, etc. I think your personality and general love of people shines through in your blog (a 45-minute conversation with a stranger, for example.) I also love reading the comments you get every week, especially from the “regulars” who do comment nearly every week. Thanks for continuing to keep us entertained!

    1. When I started this blog in 2012 I never imagined I would evolve like this. If I look at post of the 12th of November 2012 (when I had just started), I only put about 4 or 5 outfit photos of the same outfit in a post and 4 paragraphs of text and that was it.
What attracks you to my blog is ideal for me. It means I have been able to create a digital weekly mini magazine and that makes me very proud. So thank you very much for this feedback.
PS Gee always makes me giggle when she comments on my barrel jeans. It will never stop me from wearing them though.

Why change what’s working so well? For myself, I just got lazy about commenting. I love your blog just the way it is: colorful, cheery, and real!

    1. You are right, why change a winning team? I just didn’t know whether the team was actually winning. Now, with all the feedback I know. So good.
Thanks for this comment and you can go back to being lazy about commenting haha.

  40. I love every aspect of your blog. Please don’t change a thing. I often note places I would like to visit when in the Netherlands again. The Straat Museum in last week’s blog is definite must see for me! I also save some of your pictures that give me inspiration for watercolors such as this week’s photo of the quaint looking cottage. Please keep your blog the same. It is so inspiring and your efforts to produce it each week are greatly appreciated.

    1. These are the sort of compliments that lift a blogger’s heart. Thank you for your feedback and I won’t change a thing.

I look forward to your posts every week, but as with others I do not comment very often. I especially love the photos of your country. I enjoy your style, sense of humor and joy of life. Don’t change a thing about your posts!

    1. Thank you very much for your feedback Kathleen. This one comment is enough haha, you don’t have to do that every week. But this week is overwhelming. It is so nice for me to read so many touching support. And I promise, I won’t change a thing.

  42. Hi Greetje,
I love your posts and always look forward to them with pleasure.
Like quite a few others have said here, I don’t tend to comment often but your posts are a bright spot in my life.
    Please don’t change anything.

    1. Thanks Eva, for your effort to reply to my questions. Much appreciated and you don’t have to comment on a regular basis. I didn’t know what I got started haha. I now have more than 100 comments to reply to.
These comments did warm my heart and I won’t change anything.

  43. I have to say that what I wear is nothing like what you wear; I could never carry it off! (And if I did, I would be carried off!) But your style is so fun to look at, the colors! The settings! and your sense of humor are mandatory every Saturday. Please don’t alter your blog one iota!

    1. Everybody has a different style and our bodies are not the same. I have a passion for clothes, always have had. Which is why I invested time and effort in getting to know what suits my body shape. Sylvia’s site (40PlusStyle) offered a lot of information that helped. I had a colour analysis to figure out what colours suit me best etc.
I laughed when I read “I would be carried off” but at the same time I think it is a shame that you think that. I often hear “I am afraid of wearing that” and I always think “What can happen to you? Will someone shoot you? Will you get poor?” Really, people are usually far more interested in themselves than in others.
And thank you for your comment, I won’t change anything.

  44. I would love more information on your hairpiece. I have similar hair to yours but it is definitely thining out. Do you have a link to any info or a place where I could purchase one? I live in California.
    Thank you!

    1. Hi Jane, I wrote about my hairpiece in this post (scroll down to the section “What happened in my life this week”: https://www.nofearoffashion.com/2025/01/wide-black-trousers-with-the-soft-yellow-jumper/
I am afraid it is a Dutch salon which is of no use to you in California. But at least I can show you what I bought and how it works.
It looks so good because it was really expensive (€ 1,700) and made from real hair. I get really good service, free advise and such, so that is in the price as well.

  45. As you know, I really enjoy your blog and try to comment often. I see today you have lots and lots of comments! Your red-and-white set is gorgeous, as is Marjolein’s dress. I love hearing about what happened in your week, as well as your photos of scenery and architecture. Again, thank you for giving us all such interesting content every week 🙂

    1. I know Cynthia, you are a very loyal commenter (is that a word?) for which I thank you. My questions got so much respons and all so positive. I am a happy blogger and must now reply to more than a 100 comments haha.
I will continue as usual with the content.

Hi greetje I love all your blogs and photos. You have a way of showing us different parts of Holland and all the interesting towns, buildings and art as well as all your beautiful outfits. I spoke with my friend Susan and her Husband Brian after their trip and they said they enjoyed the lunch they had with you when they were in Amsterdam. Keep posting as I do enjoy reading and looking at all the pictures you post. A fan from Canada.

    1. Oh, you are a friend of Susan and Brian! I didn’t know. I have seen your name in the comments a few times. Thank you for this feedback. It is heartwarming.

  47. Your blog is my favorite. My husband and I visited your country many years ago so I enjoy seeing the interesting places you use for your photo shoots. Your sense of style Is amazing and pushes me into clothing I might not usually try. We also have a garden plot – not as elaborate as Ron’s but just as joyful. Please keep posting. I would feel as if I lost a friend if you stopped.

    1. Your comment touched me, the bit about feeling as if you lost a friend if I stopped. I had no idea that this could be the impact of my little blog. Thank you for your feedback.

  48. I don’t comment very often. I love your blog and all the effort you put into your outfits and sharing your life. I enjoy seeing pictures of the beautiful Netherlands and your friends who fill your life. Ron’s sense of humor makes me smile or laugh. Over the years, you have shared the not so happy times and they have been as meaningful for me as well. We all have some similar paths to travel as we age gracefully and gratefully.

The co-ord this week is a great buy and looks wonderful. I can see why you returned the pink and white dress. Aside from the split, the outfit print you usually pick have some graphic element to it that gives a bit of edge.

Your blog is part of my Saturday coffee and happy time. Thank you. Please don’t feel like you need to respond. You are probably inundated with comments from around the world.

    1. I completely agree with everything Gayle said above. I look forward to your blog every Saturday. But rarely comment.

I think you were wise to send back the kimono dress. It is a lovely dress. But I believe you have other dresses like the orange one in this post that suit you better. I love the new co-ord. Great find!

      1. Hi Molly, thank you very much for your feedback. No need to comment regularly, but I appreciate you taking the time to do it this time.
Glad you like the co-ord. At first I thought “Hmmm…a bit like a PJ”. But hey…that’s the fashion so no sweat. (Literally no sweat haha.)

    2. Thanks for your feedback Gayle. You are right, I usually go for edgy. But there is a side of me that likes elegant too. When I was still working, that side got plenty of attention. Now it is casual all the time.
I do respond to your comment, as you made the effort to send me one. It is social media, which means interacting.
As for sharing things, I usually can keep it light as I lead a pretty happy life (I am so lucky) but I am an extreme extrovert and share nearly everything. As soon as it involves other people I am more reluctant.

I love your blog,..and everything about it. please don’t change a thing.

    1. That was a short but very sweet comment Theresa. Thank you very much and I won’t change a thing.

  50. Keep as is, you are wonderful. This is my weekend treat, reading your blog and viewing your photos. You don’t need others comments anyway, you know what you’re doing. Everything you do/post is very relatable and very much enjoyed.

    1. I was just checking Amelia, to know for sure I shouldn’t change anything. Which I won’t now, after all these wonderful comments. Thank you for the compliments and for taking the time to send me the comment.

  52. Hi Greetje, please don’t drop the ‘what I did this week’ part of your blog – I love to see how people in other countries live. I also love seeing all your friends. Sorry about the comments – I must admit I don’t often comment on blogs, but rest assured, like everyone else here, I do enjoy yours!

    1. Please don’t change your blog. I have followed you for many years and feel like it’s great just the way it is. Every week I look forward to seeing your fashion styling and reading about your everyday life. The glimpses you show us of life and places in Holland are very informative. A fan from Brisbane, Australia.

      1. That is so good to know. By now I have seen many comments to my request and it warms my heart to read all this positive feedback. I promise I won’t change a thing.

    2. That is quite all right Patricia, you not often commenting. I do see your name now and again and that is fine. Only comment when you feel the urge haha. I will not change anything about my blog, but I will continue “what happened in my life this week” to the story format I used this week. I like that better than a summary by day. I can then also leave the messages like “Nothing happened that day”. Perhaps I will even expand this part.

  53. I agree with everyone else… I love your blog just the way it is and hope you don’t make any major changes!

    1. I promise Elaine, I won’t make any major changes. I might expand the section “What happened in my life this week” or add something similar. Don’t know yet. Depends whether I have something interesting to tell. Thanks for your comment (and the ones you often send).

  54. Greetje, you have opened the floodgates! …and now you realize how many of us look forward to our Saturday fix of fashion.
For me, don’t change a thing…and I do enjoy your weekly meanderings…and if today’s was the newer story option…that’s good too. I don’t go back as far as 2018, but since discovering you and your blog a few years ago, I cannot miss my read with a coffee and perhaps my croissant 🥐. Today I am outside on my shady patio with cool breezes and the fountain on. Will be hot soon enough
Love the palazzo outfit…nice to see what taller women can wear with such ease. Yes, Ron is an enabler, but the best kind!
Because I have to…( gardener and educator in me) that is a “day lily” …each bloom only lasts for a day, as compared to the oriental lily in the previous picture. They don’t suit cutting, unlike the oriental lily which is beautiful in a vase. But I suspect if you cut one of those , Ron would ban you from the garden! Continue on with your tidying up chores. We all have our strengths!

    1. Hi Catharine, I have opened the floodgates, haven’t I? It takes me quite some time to reply to everybody. But all the messages have been so loving, so kind and they also gave me an answer to a question I haven’t asked. I always wondered why women follow my blog when my outfits are nothing what they would wear themselves. Now I know, they like the magazine type of format of my posts. Pleases me no end.
The day lily won’t get cut. We don’t cut any flowers in our garden. The flower in the flower shops are so cheap, I’ll get them there.
And I won’t change a thing about the blog.

  55. I love your red and white set and it looks perfect for hot weather! It can be so hard to feel put-together when it’s hot and this solved that problem.

Your garden looks amazing. And I love the multi-colored jacket with the jeans.

    1. Indeed, it is a dream set to wear when it is crazy hot. And PJ’s are in fashion so why not.
I have had so many comments to my questions, and all so sweet. A few readers mentioned that they found me through your blog. Many thanks for that.

  56. Hi Greetje
    grts Jane

    1. Hahaha, dank je wel Jane. Heel fijn compliment. Ik ga lekker door zoals altijd.

  57. Don’t change a thing! Love your posts.

    1. I promise, I won’t change a thing. Although…perhaps I will extend, don’t know yet. Must have something interesting to say, right?
Great to read that you love my posts. Thanks.

  58. I have no recollection of how I stumbled onto your blog, I enjoy reading your posts and the images you post. It’s my Saturday morning indulgence. I’m a very petite woman and wish I could wear the fashions you delight me with weekly. Your blog is a visual feast. Thank you!

    1. Thank you for giving me an answer to my questions. I am really pleased with all your compliments. Apparently there are quite a few women who follow my blog but wouldn’t/couldn’t wear what I wear. That has always puzzled me. If I look at some of the comments now, I think you might regard my blog as a mini magazine? I do hope so.

  59. I look forward to reading your posts. I love seeing the various locations and your lovely outfits. Don’t change a thing.

    1. The locations really add something to the outfits, don’t they? That figures as fashion magazines don’t photograph their models against a white wall in a studio either. They go to exotic countries, preferably in winter to shoot the summer collections. For that I do not have the money, I am depending on the Netherlands (with an occasional trip abroad) and I am depending on the fickle weather here.
I promise I won’t change a thing about my blog.

  60. Please keep you blog the same. You are an inspiration!

    1. I will keep my blog the same. I heard you all loud and clear. Thank you for the compliment. Never thought I would be an inspiration.

  61. I live in Montana, USA and love your blog! The content is always so fun and I love your fashion style and writing style.

    1. That is so good to hear Susan. I am really pleased with that. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

  62. Hi just like the others, I really enjoy your posts. I like watching you try to keep your wardrobe current without buying too much new And then giving in and shopping anyway. I will never get to Europe again, but you walk me through the best of your home every week. You are also so honest about what doesn’t work and why and you are very lucky to have found a tailor and a shoemaker(cobbler) who will work with you. You are also nicely tall, I am barely 5,1 and can’t do long and flowy but it certainly works for you. You encourage us all to be colourful which is good.
    Keep calm and carry on!

    1. Thank you very much Beth, for giving me this feedback. I won’t change my blog. Promise.
We have a few things in the Netherlands which are realy good. Enough tailors and cobblers, low priced flowers in flower shops everywhere and a good health system for everyone. So, I will cope with the fickle weather. Mind you, with the climate change, it is beginning to be like the south of France here, while the south of France is bloody hot.
I have always wondered why women who have a totally different body shape or taste, are following my blog. Apparently there is enough other stuff in my posts to keep you interested. Yay.

I just started reading your blog after reading Une Femme d’un Certain Age. I love reading about your day and you have such a unique style and perspective. You look fabulous in every different look. You transport me from Kansas City to the Netherlands. Merci!

    1. Hah..another reader through Susan’s blog. She has provided me with quite a few readers. So nice. Thank you for your comment with such nice compliments. I get shy.

  64. Now look what you have done Greetje! Created an hours worth of work answering all these comments. Haha! I, too, love your blog both the original format and today’s format. Whatever makes you happy is my motto. While I loved the flowered dress the result on you was just ok. I have the same fear about dresses these days as looking too matronly instead of breezy (good grief I am a matron at 84!!) I am built similar to you and know what works and what doesn’t. I feel the black accessories were fine as it grounded the wildness of the print. White would have been too Palm Beachy. Ron is a gem. And I always love seeing Marjolein’s outfits.

    1. You are so right Lynda. I didn’t think I’d get this many comments. Be careful what you wish for eh?
It doesn’t matter that you are 84, I applaud you for wanting to look good. I agree with you about the black with the red and white co-ord. That is why I chose it. But, other readers think about that differently. Which is inevitable, we are all different.
I’ll forward your compliment to Marjolein. I will continue the blog as it is now with the “What happened in my life this week” in the format of this week’s. I feel it is less of a summary and more challenging to me (to write). Thank you very much for your comment.

  65. I look forward to reading your post every week. Please don’t change a thing. I love your style.

    1. Adding my voice to the chorus of “don’t change a thing!” Your blog is superior in every way to the others available!

      1. You’ve captured my thoughts exactly. Please continue your blog, just as it is.

        1. Hi Sue, you and Sharon are in agreement and I am very happy about your opinions. I will continue the blog as it is.

      2. Sharon, oh dear, that is some compliment! You will make me vain haha. Thank you very much and I won’t change a thing.

    2. Thanks Terri, so good to hear. I promise, I won’t change a thing.

  66. Love your blog!!

    1. And I love you for loving my blog. And for telling me this.

  67. I just love your blog and wait patiently for Saturday to come around, everything about is just fine, please do not change the format or ever stop ‘chatting’ to us. On another note, have you tried a smear of Vaseline across the sore spot on your foot and also a little on the inside of the offending footwear, works wonders – take it from a fellow sufferer. Enjoy the moment always. Jan in Castle Gresley, UK

    1. What a good tip Jan. No I have never tried Vaseline and I will now. Thanks very much and also for your kind words about my blog. I won’t change anything.

  68. I rarely comment but love your blog. I look forward to reading it every week. Please don’t change a thing!

    1. Laurie, I promise I won’t change a thing. Everybody agrees with your opinion. I am so chuffed with this outburst of love by everyone. Thanks ever so much for your contribution.

  69. Keep on keeping on with things as they are! I enjoy your posts.

    1. Thanks Nancy. I will. Your opinion is shared by everyone else. Nobody wants anything changed. It is good to know I am on the right track.

  70. As others have said I love your blog just as it is. Your outfits, friends and the wonderful photographs of your homeland. I too prefer to read a blog rather than instagram or tiktok. Keep up the good work for us luddites.

    1. Ah Jane, thanks for your comment. I promise I won’t change anything about my blog. Also thanks for teaching me another English word: luddites (I looked it up).

  71. i am new to your blog but now look forward to reading it every saturday morning. please don’t change anything! it is great just the way it is.

i also rarely comment on the blogs i read. usually i find that whatever i might have said has already been said, often several times over.

    1. Hi Susan, welcome to my little blog. Nowadays I almost always publish a new post on a Saturday, but when I am late for some reason, it will be Sunday. I haven’t missed a week in 12 1/2 years. And I won’t change anything to the blog. Don’t worry about not commenting, I don’t mind at all, but this time I got valuable information for which I am grateful. Mind you, over 80 comments to reply to…

  72. I have never commented before on a post, but I want you to know that I love your blog and have been following you for years. I am excited every Saturday morning to open my phone and read about your life. I love the pictures of Amsterdam and areas, hearing about your week and seeing what you are wearing, of course. We are the same age but my life here in Canada is far more casual than yours. Nonetheless, don’t change a thing about your blog! It’s wonderful!

    1. What people generally wear in the Netherlands is also far more casual than what I wear or my friends. Jeans and a t-shirt.
I love clothes too much to comply with that.
It was so good to read your comment and receive your compliments. Thank you very much for that. Don’t worry, you don’t have to comment in future haha. I don’t mind. But thank you for this one. I won’t change anything about the blog.

  73. I look forward to reading your blog every Saturday morning! Please don’t change a thing! Your vibrant personality shines through in every post. I love all your outfit combinations, and it helps me to try new things from my own closet. I also love seeing the buildings and scenery in The Netherlands. It’s such a beautiful country. Enjoy your week, and we look forward to hearing your stories next Saturday!

    1. I changed publishing post to a Saturday, but if I am too busy, one might come on a Sunday.
Next week’s post is nearly done (in concept) and will be ‘normal’, not too much story. One week can be more interesting than the other. I don’t worry about that. After all, no highs without lows.
But I was wondering whether my content was still OK. Because of all your lovely comments, I now know it is and I promise I won’t change it.

  74. I always look forward to your posts and have recommended them to several friends. It looks like you have a lot of fun, and it’s always interesting to see your friends, too. My younger daughter would love to have her friends tag along and photograph her like that! 😄 When one of my friends is planning a trip to Amsterdam or elsewhere in Holland, I always tell them to check out your site. I am widowed, and my good friend I have traveled with is I’ll, so until I meet some people in my new retirement community, I am not traveling, but I am very comfortable in Paris so worst case, I will go there solo. Your Paris trips are therefore of great interest. I’m filing the boutiques away mentally. In summary, your posts are perfect just the way they are. Please keep them coming.

    1. Thank you for this comment Emily and for advertising my blog. Much appreciated.
If you like addresses in Paris, do check out Susan’s blog (Une Femme d’un certain age). She is much better in these things and she adores Paris.
I hope you will find a travel friend soon or that your travel friend will get healthy again.
My posts will continue to be as they are.

  75. I love your outfit this week — very Marimekko-esque, and cool for the summer. I also think Marjolein’s blue and white dress is beautiful on her.

As far as comments and the blog, I comment far less on blogs than I used to, once believing comments were a way of thanking the blogger, but now finding it to be a one-way street on most blogs. I appreciate how you reply to comments and the structure of your blog — I can only imagine how much time and thought it takes to do your posts and think it must be a little disheartening to not receive reader comments and feedback. In terms of structure, I wouldn’t change anything!

    1. Thank you very much for this feedback Elizabeth. You don’t have to comment as a thank-you, only comment when you feel like it.
When the privacy rules were changed and commenters didn’t get my reply automatically, I started to send the reply mails. Which is indeed quite a bit of work (so why did I ask for so many people to comment hahaha). But it is social media, it is about interacting. And I hate it myself, having to go back to a blog to see what the blogger’s reply to my comment was. Haven’t got the time for that.
A person has to have a hobby, right? This is mine. And I promise, I won’t change anything.

  76. I have never posted comments on any blog but I so enjoy reading yours and look forward to Saturday morning posts. I live in California but my husband’s family is from the Netherlands so we both enjoy your pictures of the country. Don’t change a thing, I enjoy the snapshot of your life.

    1. In that case, thank you very much for making the exception to comment this time. I promise, I won’t change my blog.

    1. Thank you Robin, I will not change anything.

  79. Hello from Michigan! Please don’t change your blog, it’s so enjoyable as is. I found you through another blog, Susan Blakey . I read you both in the morning and feel very international/trans-continental . Seldom do I write comments but will do so if it helps keep you going. Btw, your red flower is a day lily 🙂

    1. Thanks for this comment Lynn, but really you don’t have to write comments in future. I only asked this time because I wanted to know whether I was still on the right track (apparently I am) or needed to change anything (no, I won’t).
Nice that Susan has brought me a reader.

I love your blog just as it is. Please don’t change anything about it! Thinking about the dress I think you did right to send it back. Sorry but leaving aside slits etc the pattern does you no favours at all, far too chintzy. Of all the outfits I think your new jacket and barrel jeans looked fab, very you. However, I have to say Marjolein’s dress is gorgeous. As for commenting, I will do better in the future 😀

    1. Thanks Elizabeth, I promise I won’t change anything apart from the “what happened in my life this week”. I will write it how I wrote it in this post. It is less of a summary and more of a story.
You don’t have to comment more in the future. I was only curious to know whether I was on the right track and apparently I am. Only comment when you really want to. And I’ll tell Marjolein what you said about her dress.
PS Glad to have found a fan of the barrel jeans haha.

  81. Love your blog – it’s the best! I just don’t usually comment but look forward to your post every week. I’m from Long Island NY.

    1. Thank you for your effort to comment this time. Apparently I am on the right track and can continue.
No need for you to comment every week. Just enjoy.

  82. Always enjoy your posts. Keep going! Like your outfits.

    1. Thanks Audrey. I will and I hope I can entertain you for many more years.

I love your blog and look forward to reading it every week. It’s friendly, newsy and reads like a travel journal. Especially like hearing about your friends and daily activities. I did enjoy today’s story format too and encourage you to continue that from time to time. You are a very talented writer!
    .

    1. Wow, that is some compliment “a very talented writer”. I don’t regard myself like that at all. Especially because my text usually is just a few sentences about a photo. I think I will change the format of “what happened in my life this week” to how I wrote it in this post. It is less of a summary and more of a story. More challenging to write.
And don’t forget, I am Dutch, English is not my mother tongue which limits me in how I say things.
Thanks for giving me this feedback.

  84. Wow. the red outfit is quite striking. Looks good on you. It’s a shame about the pink and white dress. It seemed too long on you. I hate when I anxiously await a package and then am disappointed when the item arrives. I return a lot of items! And I love your blog so much. I look forward to reading it every Saturday morning. I can name all of the flowers in your garden! Your husband must be the gardener. lol. Oh, I especially love seeing all the buildings you show in your blog. And, of course, all the shopping trips you and your friends take.

    1. It doesn’t often happen that a package disappoints. Mind you, I don’t order much online. I am an old skool shopper.
My husband together with friend and neighbour Froukje are responsible for the plants in our garden.
I am always glad with your comments and I thank you for your faithfulness.

  85. I hardly ever comment as I’m not particularly ‘wordy’ so I feel that others put things far better than I 🙂
I love your blog. I love everything about it and I especially love the long posts with lots of pictures and words!
I read three other blogs weekly but yours is by far my favourite. Please keep posting!
I adore the barrel jeans on you, and that jacket is fabulous with it. I love the co-ord too. You look fantastic in brights.
I also love your shopping pals, the Saturday gals and all your other friends. I like seeing what you all wear and try on when you are together. I am in the UK and most people here are very timid with their styling and colour choices.
I’m dying to see the fancy white cowboy boots!!
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
Thank you for all that you do 🙂

    1. Everybody’s opinion counts, you don’t have to be ‘wordy’. Just look at today’s comment. That is one that made me very happy. For you don’t have to comment every week Ruth if that is not your thing. I am thankful for this one and all your compliments.

  86. I am a recent subscriber and love your postings just the way they are!
I love the photos and the “tour guide” style outings you bring us.
And I love your choice of various articles of clothing too!
    Thanks!

    1. In that case, welcome Karen. I hope I can keep you amused for many years to come. Reading 40 comments I think I can say, I shouldn’t change anything. Great that you have let me know.

  87. I have read that many bloggers have less comments in recent years because so many readers have moved to Instagram or Tiktok. I definitely prefer blogs and yours is perfect so don’t change a thing. Your co-ord looks so cool and breesy, perfect for the hot weather.

    1. Thank you very much for this comment Lise. I think you are right in thinking that people have moved to Instagram or TikTok. I do post a photo on Instagram and Facebook every week, but that is just “advertising”. I hope to lure them to the blog which doesn’t often happen. Just putting a photo on Instagram would bore me so fast.

I love reading your blog, I have holidays in Haalem because of the lovely photographs you send. So interested in What happened this week.
Hated the dress, made you look like an old housewife.
Don’t change and don’t stop, please.

    1. I hope that your visit will not disappoint. You do understand that I only show the good bits, don’t you? Haha, don’t fear, it is a lovely city.
Your comment on the dress made me laugh out loud. Thank you very much for that.

  89. I love reading your posts and always look forward to them. I don’t often comment but I wanted you to know I’m here in St. Augustine, FL following you every week. Your posts make me want to move to the Netherlands. Please don’t change a thing. BTW I’m 76 but very young at heart.

    1. I am very pleased to read your comment, thank you for taking the time. It helps me a lot, knowing whether I am on the right track.

  90. I also enjoy reading your blog. I enjoy the fashion and the what happened in your life. Both my parents were born in the Netherlands and I have visited a few times so I especially enjoy when you share neighbouring towns.
I do not normally comment, but will make a point of it moving forward.
P.S. I think the jean outfit looks fabulous on you.

    1. Well Wendy, you should talk to another reader of my blog, Gee, who thinks my jeans are hideous hahaha. Just joking. I so get that it isn’t everybody’s taste. We are all different which is great. It does teach me to listen to my own taste as that is the only one that counts. I do check with friends and husband, but I distill what I think is useful. And I can handle any kind of comment, positive or negative. The negative ones are usually ‘wrapped’ in something funny.
And there is no need for you to start commenting if that is not what you like to do. I am grateful for your feedback today.

  91. I love your blog and everything in it! Please tell me something about those white sneakers with a zipper and the ruffle. They are lovely!

    1. That is very good to know Hoda. The white sneakers are by Vic Matié (https://vicmatie.com/en/). Unfortunately for you, they are a couple of years old, so I doubt whether you can find them. But who knows? On a vintage site?

  92. I love reading your posts and read every word every week. I only occasionally comment but enjoy them so much.

    1. Well, thank you Nicky, for commenting this week. Of course you don’t have to comment, but I wanted to know whether I am on the right track with the content. You set my mind at ease.

  93. Am I incorrect calling The Netherlands, Holland? Just an afterthought. Must be my age…….

  94. Well, I was told about your blog at the beginning of the year, by a friend, who had been enjoying it for some time. I look forward to it every week, which might seem a bit sad to some, but not me. I have just turned 76. I live in England, (but Scottish). My late husband and I used to visit Holland, and sailed there too. Your postings bring back happy memories. I love your Blog format, and wouldn’t change it .Love everything about it. You make me laugh, and smile at your adventures with your friends., and hubby and occasionally pets. I share your love of clothes and quirky jewellery. Thank you!!!

    1. I so love the Scottish, love the language and my (late) best friend was Scottish, so welcome!
Thank you very much for commenting, at least I now know that I am on the right track. And thank your friend for me haha.
PS it is not the least bit sad to looking forward to my posts. Regard them as a favourite magazine you’ve subscribed to.
I don’t mind anybody saying Holland, but that if you want to be totally correct, it is the Netherlands as Holland is only part of it.

  95. I read every week but don’t comment, I’m not sure why! I wanted to comment today though on your questions, I really like the bits you write about what is happening in your life, its humanising and you write it in an interesting and often humerous way! Its nice to get a little slice of someone’s life along with the outfit photos. So i would say to continue! Thanks, a mid 40s reader in Delft who loves your style 🙂

    1. Oh gosh Sophikita, a mid 40-er from Delft…wasn’t expecting that. Thanks ever so much for commenting and answering my questions. It helps me with the content of my blog. Even if I don’t have to change much, which by reading all the comments, I shouldn’t. At least my mind is at ease now.

  96. Hello, You

Crikey, we’d soon see you coming on a dark night! Love the co-ord outfit but not with black sandals; too heavy a colour. Try something lighter next time, please!

I shall refrain from commenting on your jeans – hard to do, but I’ll be strong – and say instead how nice you look in the dress you sent back. What a shame about the slit skirt but agree with you: not necessary and you’d never feel comfortable in it.

Like you, I’m no gardener but love flowers; ours is more of a wildflower plot (for that, read weeds) than a proper garden, but the birds and bees love it so we’re happy enough. I think the flowers who showed are called red pokers, but what do I know?
(Er, have just checked and I don’t think they are!)

As for commenting here, when have you ever known me to hold back or shut up? Keep on keeping on, kiddo, I’d miss having a pop at those jeans!

    Have a good week

    Gee x

    1. Thanks Gee, I wouldn’t want you to hold back for a second. I sit here grinning when I read you have to refrain from commenting on my jeans haha.
But among these terrible jeans post, you know you will also find some sweet stuff.
      Thanks for your many comments.

  97. As I commented before; that jacket was definitely worth the effort to purchase it, fabulous 😊.
    Your garden is looking beautiful.
In answer to your questions :
    1. I’m not a garrulous person so don’t tend to comment on blogs, nothing personal 😁
    2. I like the ‘what happened’ section and enjoyed today’s format.
Love reading your blog, I feel it’s so relevant to me as I was also born in 1954 😁.

    1. Thanks ever so much for commenting this time Susan. And thank you for teaching me another English word (garrulous).
Feedback like this helps me so much. And…1954 was a good year.
