Friends…. salt of the earth

My BVA girlfriendsAs it is Christmas today, you probably have other things to do than look at my blogpost. Nevertheless, there is a post if you have a few minutes to spare. It is a post about friendship. Honestly, I wouldn’t know how to survive without friends, especially girlfriends. They are the salt of the earth. Of course I love my husband, his daughter, my mother, brother, etc etc. But friends are so special. I marvel at the fact there is no limit to the number of friends you can love. No matter how many new friends I gain, not a single bit of love is taken away from the others. Apparently our hearts are built that way. View Post

A leather jacket with skirts

Green leather jacket with long skirt (1 van 1)Skirts for a change. A difficult one (a long skirt) and an easy one (a pencil skirt). Attempting to keep the outfits modern, I combined these skirts with a leather jacket. This olive coloured one is softer near my face than a black leather jacket. You can wear it zipped right up as I did in this first photo or leave the zip half open. Looking at the photos again, in hindsight I don’t think this jacket is the best option for the skirts.  View Post

A blue sweater as a background for a pink scarf

SAMSUNG CSCIt was a very cold and grey day, last Wednesday, when I agreed to meet my friend Ineke at Elsa’s for lunch. Elsa’s is a nice café for drinks, lunch and dinner on the east side of Amsterdam. Ever so friendly people serving and if you rise to it, lots of Amsterdam tongue-in-cheek, which I absolutely adore. The one draw-back of living in Haarlem… having to miss this humor. I wore a blue sweater as a background for a pink scarf. View Post

Black Tara Jarmon dress

Black tara Jarmon dress 1One of the nice things of going abroad is buying clothes in different shops then you are used to. Often to find out they sell the same thing at home…. Globalisation has its down sides. The time I bought this black Tara Jarmon dress was when we visited Gent in Belgium. Not really far away, just popping over the border, but still abroad. Tara Jarmon is a very good brand and not very well known in The Netherlands. Normally I don’t wear things like this as it can make me look like a stick. I planned to hoist it up until it was a tunic, which turned out badly. It looked as if I had several fat bulges from waist to bottom. Not flattering.  View Post

Green and blue in a mix and match

Max Mara blouse with green skinnies 1Mixing and matching this time. Not that I am any good at that, but I try. The silk blouse is by Max Mara as well as the pattern skinnies in the second outfit. Those two pieces together is my favourite combination as you have seen before. But… it would be a pity not to make more use of such lovely clothes. So herewith green and blue in a mix and match: the blouse with green skinnies and the pattern skinnies with a black sweater. I know, I know… no rocket science here. View Post
