Givenchy exhibition in The Hague

Hope sweaterShowing this top was way overdue. I bought it last May when I was at the 3040 Blogger meet in London. It is by Hope Fashion UK, a company which I love for its mission, its sustainability, its quality and the fact they provide nice clothes for women over 40. Read all about Hope here. The founder Nayna is a wonderful woman whom I met in person. She makes “wearable and stylish clothes in quality fabrics and fluid designs created for real body shapes and proportions”. And no, this is not a sponsored post. I bought the sweater and I am not getting paid to praise them. Anyway… I put this lovely sweater on while visiting the Givenchy exhibition in The Hague with my friend Marjolein. View Post

Max Mara flower skirt with a blue sweater

Flower skirt MM & blue sweater (39)_LRThis Max Mara flower skirt is the last skirt I bought at the outlet in Turin. I brought back half a suitcase full of good stuff. While trying everything on in Turin, Daniela handed me three boxy sweaters to go with the skirts and I thought they looked terrific. Trying them on again at home I chickened out. I only use one of them on an A-line skirt (still to show on the blog) and the rest on pencil skirts. We didn’t select a top for the skirt which you see today. I think that this blue sweater (brand Vanilia, seen before here) is nice with it as the grey in the skirt is a bit bluish. The belt is ancient. (Remember I said I never throw out belts or scarves?) The colour brown of the belt is exactly the same as the boots. (After seeing these photos I knew I should have kept the belt just a little bit lower….) View Post

Pencil skirt styling part 2

SAMSUNG CSCIt may get a bit boring. See…. I ran out of photos…. you therefore will have to do with these. This is pencil skirt styling part 2 (here is a link for those who missed my first attempt). Of course after the initial styling the rest is easy. Once you have the basics, in this case boots and skirt, the tops are easy. View Post

Shopping in The Hague

Shopping in The Hague (2 van 27)Let me introduce you to Marjolein, my friend from when I was 20, so we go back 40 years (oh… God…). Last Wednesday I went shopping in The Hague with her (its her hometown). I used to live there for 7 years but preferred Amsterdam.

I work 36 hours per week (or more) in 4 (long) days and Wednesdays I have the day off to enjoy some social life. It is my girlfriend day. View Post

Little black dress

Finally I have a little black dress again. I know… I have too much black in my winter wardrobe, but come on, a little black dress should be in every woman’s wardrobe.

You will get bored with this dress as you are going to see it a lot. Dressed with a cardigan, with a jacket, with big necklaces etc. And you will see failures too, but not this time. Today my LBD is in full glory.

I had it custom-made as I do not have a ready-to-wear figure, unlike what most of you think. And a little black dress has to be cut perfectly. My seamstress made this miracle work. You would think I have hips and a bum, haha. LOL
The dress comes with a separate peplum. A loose piece. Isn’t that clever? Thought of it myself and I am very proud of that. It is not often I have these great ideas.

The earrings are for the colour near my face as black is definitely NOT my colour, however much as I like it.

Above with peplum, below without.

Do you see the shoe clip on the above photo right? Is by Heels Diva Shoe Accessories. You can order them online. They have feathers, bling bling, simple bows … you name it. Most of them can be clipped on the front of the shoe and on the side. The feathers I have are really just for on the side. Detail below.

Until the day after tomorrow.
