Arty print trousers styled twice

Arty print trousers with brown shirt

Arty print trousers styled twiceBefore summer comes to an end, I chartered Loes to photograph these arty print trousers which I scored while shopping with my friend Marjolein. It was when I wore the blue patent leather shoes for the first time. Even though it isn’t quite the same blue as in the trousers, it is near enough for me.

Loes only had limited time as she had to take her cat to the vet (we are both cat lovers). We therefore didn’t go too far so we could make the most of the time we had. I knew a pretty pond with trees in a posh area and we agreed it would do fine as background.

Below: Loes with her new-to-her jacket which she scored in a second-hand shop on our previous photo shoot. It is such a cute and unusual jacket, beautifully combined with the green trousers.

Below: I hadn’t counted on the shoes sinking into the grass, darn.

Below: Better walk to that cute stone bridge. The chocolate brown fitted shirt is about 30 years old. It is not the same brown as in the trousers, which I thought was good. I liked what I saw in the mirror and didn’t ask myself more questions.

You might have noticed my bag. It is new and the brand is Wandler. I wanted a Wandler bag for ages but they are pricey. Can I blame Aafke, who showed me the shop in Amersfoort where they sold me this bag? Or do I only have myself to blame (don’t bother commenting on that; I know the answer).

Below: The front.

Below: The back. Depending on the light, it changes colour. I cannot put a name on the colour. Again, I thought it matched perfectly with the outfit, even though the colour isn’t in the outfit.

We decided to move a bit further down the road.

Below: I changed tops and jewellery and added a blue belt.
I wore the same top and shoes (see this post) when I bought these trousers. That made it very easy to decide whether I wanted them.

We turned the corner to get a new background and took numerous photographs which weren’t sharp enough. I noticed it took quite a while before the shutter clicked. It slowly dawned on me what was wrong. The camera was set on S for shutter and that obviously didn’t work so I put it back on half automatic. After that not all photos were good, but they were a lot better.
Although I am such an amateur that I don’t know why it took the shutter so long to close, I am proud that I knew where to look.

Below: A few photos of these series made it to the blog.
You can just see the blue belt.

Below: Nice, but the background should have been blurry. I will find out what to do with the camera before Loes and I do another photo shoot.
I am wearing the bag with the long strap in these photos. You can also wear it cross-body, but Loes said it wasn’t nice with this outfit. I listen to her.

Below: The back of this old Max Mara top is worthwhile photographing. It has darts at the front. Just like in the old days, when they tailored clothes to fit you properly, even if you were big chested. Nowadays all tops and dresses are for small sized boobs.

What happened in my life this week

Saturday I met Marita in town for a coffee and a cake. We have a new coffee restaurant in town and they have the most delicious cakes. My weight is becoming a “problem”.

Below: A very harsh iPhone selfie of Marita and me that really shows my wrinkles. But also my new earrings by Lara Design. They come with different colour buttons and I chose red.

Sunday Ron and I both visited my mum. Ron had to hang up things in the kitchen and such, while I photographed mum in the garden (below), wearing different shoes for the first time in a year.

Below: I wore my thick linen dress with Bella’s cute bag from Etsy, a small accessory only useful for keeping my phone in. Red earrings with a pink button, also Lara Design.

Monday the physiotherapist checked whether I had practiced my fitness exercises in the right manner. And yes I did. The only thing I have to improve on, is taking it at a slower pace.
In the afternoon Loes and I had the photo shoot for this blog post.

Tuesday was filled with household chores and blogging. At the end of the day I went to Amsterdam to have dinner with Neiske. Excellent restaurant (Morgan and Mees), excellent food and service. And of course excellent company; see Neiske and me below. (Link to original post with this outfit.)

Wednesday I saw Maurits, who has been my friend for 36 years. We can laugh together until we cry. The same humour, the same taste and both very fond of clothes. What a match we would have been, if it wasn’t for the tiny detail that he is gay haha. He is now married to Marcel and they are a terrific match as well.

Below: Maurits lounging in his garden.

Below: I was wearing this outfit, which made Maurits change his shorts for a pair of off-white jeans to fit in. That’s my boy. (Link to original post.)

Thursday was a day in The Hague with Jacqueline, who is coach by profession and a very good one. She offered me a session with “Family constellations”. I have always been curious about that phenomenon so I said yes, but it wasn’t too successful. The things we did touch were absolutely spot on but I have no issues, no burning questions and I have already done a lot of self-searching in the past. There wasn’t much to go by for her. Nevertheless, the day was great.
Below: I wore this. (Link to original post.)

Friday I had to do a bit of work for Ron: street interviews with strangers while a colleague of Ron held the camera and microphone. Tsss…one out of seven people wanted to cooperate which means a lot of rejection.
As it rained we decided to go to a shopping mall. Luckily for us there were dry spells in between the rain as we were warned off by a security guard of the mall. We needed a licence to film. Pffff…too much hassle.

In the afternoon I chose a new frame for my reading glasses at the optician and phoned the shop who gave us an insanely high quote for new sun blinds. Prices in general have gone up a lot this year and these things were double the price. What to do? We are going to deliberate.

  1. LOVE the trousers.

    1. I’d say, that is short and sweet. Thank you.

  2. Oh my gosh, I love those trousers so much, Greetje! I think the second outfit is my preference – the cream top really shows off the pants, and that necklace is amazing with the outfit. Well done on the blue shoes/belt (you know I love the matchy stuff!). I find the non-matchiness of the brown shirt not as exciting to my eyes. I would love to see the pants with a chunky sweater and maybe some ankle boots for fall?

What a sweet cat that is! Great to see you hanging out with your friends, and look at your mum! She looks lovely and I’m admiring those shoes!

    1. You are not alone in preferring the cream top over the brown one. I have never thought of combining these trousers with a chunky sweater and ankle boots. So thank you for the idea. I will try it.
Mum is feeling much better too. Saturday we are going out to eat pancakes.

  3. Those trousers are fabulous, Greetje, and I love how you styled them—both ways. That setting with the gardens, ducks and little bridge is enchanting! If I had that nearby, I would take almost all of my photos there lol!
    Hugs

    1. I try to have another background with every shoot, but I am running out of new locations. So I will go on repeat.

  4. Well, I didn’t imagine these pants for you, but how beautiful they are, they also look cute on you. And the combination with the brown upper part is very good, a nice look, but I would choose the second proposal, it seems more balanced and elegant. I love the second necklace, it’s beautiful. I love the linen dress!

    1. You and most of my readers have spotted that the brown shirt is a bit too long. I tried to put it into the trousers but they were too tailored to do that. That’s what you get with 30 year old stuff. It doesn’t always match the new ways of dressing.
The brown necklace is from my ‘Chunky necklaces’ pile. From a long time ago. I did a post with that title.

Love the trousers on you. I’m with Gee: I would wear tops in the colors of the print, but I’m glad to see your explorations. Your mum is so adorable in another cute top. Happy she can finally wear regular shoes. So fun to read about your life.

    1. I usually wear tops in the colours of the print, but if I think the colours go together, I am happy.
Mum is feeling much better and that is cheering her up.
I am glad that the part of “what happened in my life” is met with approval heh heh.

  6. Great outfits on you throughout. Pants are very creative, and you wear them well with your height. Large prints unfortunately are not for me because I’m quite petite—5’. Love the background for photos. You keep me smiling.

    1. You are right, my height is a plus. I am 5ft74 (1m75), if I haven’t shrunk.
I am very pleased you told me that I keep you smiling. My goal exactly.

  7. What a great trousers. Love the design and the styling with both blouses and the blue shoes. Your mom is looking good.

    1. Thanks. I appreciate you like both the outfits. Most readers have pointed out that the brown shirt is a bit too long (and I have to agree). Mum is feeling much better.

  8. Those pants are gorgeous on you! I like both looks, though I’ll admit I thought the blouse was black. Ha!
Am I the only one who doesn’t know what marquesses are?!

    1. No, deep chocolate brown. As it is so dark brown, I can understand you thinking it was black.
As for marquesses..oops… I meant sun blinds and accepted a wrong translation. They are fancy sun blinds. I am going to change it in the post. Thanks for telling me.

  9. I love those trousers on you, especially with the cream sweater. Lovely scenery as always, you really choose some super locations. Great to see your mum in the garden looking fabulous. I always look forward to Sunday and reading your blog so thank you Greetje.

    1. I am so grateful for you loyal readers. It makes me feel as if my blog matters to people. And that is a very nice feeling.
Like you, most readers love the cream top with the trousers. Finding new good locations is getting harder and harder in this small town, so I will repeat locations in the future.

  10. I absolutely love the two outfits you highlighted today. Such lovely pants! I particularly love them with the brown shirt. And the shoes and bag are wonderful. Perfection, I think

    1. Oh great, one fan who loves the brown shirt with the trousers. The rest all say that it is too long (I did hesitate on that point).
      “Perfection”…wow, that’s a big compliment. Thank you.

  11. I love the print on the pants and although the brown top looked good with them the cream top really made them an outfit. I like the pale blue shoes but I would wear navy boots or shoes with the pants. Have you lost weight? Looking good either way..

    1. As your fellow readers have told me…the brown shirt is a bit too long. Proportions aren’s right. That’s what you get with old stuff.
Navy boots or shoes eh? Hmm…I thought the baby blue was nice with the light blue in the trousers. But perhaps you don’t like the two blues being slightly different.
No, I haven’t lost weight. As a matter of fact, I gained a kilo. Trying to get rid of that extra kilo. It is just what I wear that makes me look slimmer. You can do so much with the right clothes.

  12. Although I don’t see the point of pointy-toed shoes (haha), I really like these blue ones. I read both posts, but don’t see a brand or link for the shoes? Am I missing it?

Your trousers are like the Matisse cut-outs. Love!

    1. You are right about the Matisse cut-outs. I thought the print was familiair.
Pointy-toed shoes are elegant to me and these are also comfortable. I didn’t mention the brand as it is a Dutch shop owner who has these made in Italy and they were in the sale as they were from one or two years ago.

  13. Those trousers were made for you, they suit you brilliantly. Pity that gorgeous cat didn’t appear while you had the chocolate shirt on; it would have matched you well 🙂
Glad to see your mum’s up and about again. Love Loes’ outfit too, suits her well and the park area too with all the greenery! Have a good week. x

    1. I will go back and tell that cat off haha.
By the sound of it, you liked the post and that pleases me much. Thanks for reading and commenting.

  14. Great loose and colorful pants. So easy and comfy to be out of those tight “skinnies”.

    1. I know. Skinnies are still on my favourite list but so is comfort and lately the latter wins.

  15. Hello, you…

Lovely to see Mama up and about. Hugs…

Love the trews! I think the second top is the right one although personally I’d have chosen one of the colours in the trousers. But that’s just me, you still look great – and those shoes! Di-vine!

As ever, the photo locations are stunning. Thank you, Loes!

Have a good week, kiddo, and stay away from all things sweet – except Ron, of course!

    Gee x

    1. Hahaha…except Ron…funny.
Everybody seems to notice that the brown shirt is a bit too long. I don’t mind the top being a slightly different colour from the trousers as long as it goes together.

  16. I believe the leather in the necklace complements your handbag. It’s subtle but it caught my eye. Fabulous pants and outfits.

    1. Gosh, I never noticed that the leather in the necklace was the same colour. You are very perceptive. Thanks for the compliments.

Love the trousers and especially love with the lighter top – the tunic is pretty but it looks like it is wearing you rather than you wearing it! Again, thank you for brightening my day with your post!

    1. Hah, I thought nobody would notice that the brown shirt is a tad too long, but apparently you all spot it.
Thank you for reading my blog and for commenting. I really appreciate that.

  18. I agree with you! Too many tops are made for small busted women! Ha. My bust is 44 inches. If I want to wear a button up the front blouse I have to buy a larger size so it doesn’t gap when I sit down! Very annoying! i love your bag! I looked at the Demmelier bag, I just love that one too! I have a huge collection of bags. I love shoes too but have fitting issues with orthotics so I buy more bags cause I cannot buy a lot of shoes!

    1. I have taken a few shirts to the seamstress and she just sewed the front on both sides of the buttons. Now I have to put them on over my head, but at least they don’t gap and I don’t have to use safety pins anymore.
Your strategy of buying more bags than shoes is very familiair. Bags always fit haha. And an expensive taste you have as well. Demellier and Wandler are my most expensive bags. Oh no, my little black Chloe bag cost a lot too (but was a present). I suppose when you have a lot of bags, you automatically raise your standards haha.

  19. Lovely outfits, all! And the Wandler bag is just gorgeous. So great that your mom is doing well — and I adore Loes’s jacket! Amazing how you always find such pretty settings for your photos.

    1. Thank you for the compliments. The Wandler bag has been on my wish list for a very long time. It was just too expensive. Don’t know why I suddenly bought it now. Temporary insanity?
Finding settings for our photo shoots is getting harder and harder. Both Loes and Kitty don’t have a lot of time, so we stay in Haarlem and that is a small town.

  20. Those trousers are totally you! I like the second outfit better with the white sweater. Loes’ jacket is really fun, and I hope her cat is alright.
I don’t know if you can order glasses online where you live, but I buy all mine online. The prices at the optometrist’s are insane! My favorite company to buy from is Zenni Optical. Their glasses are ridiculously cheap and the quality seems fine. Warby Parker is another company I’ve ordered from. They are more expensive, but the glasses are really nice. Good luck!
    Have a great week.

    1. As Susan said, the proportions of the trousers with the brown shirt are slightly off. It is a bit too long I am afraid.
Loes’cat is all right. The vet gave a medicine.
I cannot order glasses online for a number of reasons, but thank you for trying to save me money. That is always welcome.

  21. Lovely scenery as usual. I like that Wandler bag too!

    Nancy
    (A fellow cat 🐈‍⬛ lover)

    1. The Wandler bag has been on my secret wish list for a very long time. It was just too expensive. No idea why I suddenly forked the money for this one. Can I plea temporary insanity?

      1. I am new to your blog and love your scenic backgrounds. Your outfits are very cute and inspirational, too. I reside in an ocean town south of Seattle. I hope to visit the Netherlands someday.

        1. How nice, a new reader! One who takes the time to comment and in such a lovely way. Thank you very much.
I hope I can entertain you every week. On Sunday there is always a new post.

  22. The trousers are really fun and very you. I like the color mix and necklaces in the first outfit, but think the proportions work better in the second. And that Wandler bag, stunning!

Glad to see you Mum up and about a bit more, too.

    1. I have tried to put my brown shirt into the trousers, but as it is tailored it didn’t work. I get what you are saying, it is a tad long. As I have used the cream top with my grey trousers as well, I wanted a different look. Hmmm.
