Beginning the new year with a sin, a new purchase, this black and white blazer by Copenhagen Muse. It doesn’t count though as I bought it in 2022 and I’ll stick to that. I bought it at kpa.haarlem where it was slightly cheaper than on the brand website.
Of course I should have begun with wishing you a very happy and joyful 2023. Hereby LOL.
(I always get tired very quickly of good wishes; first Merry Christmas a thousand times, then Happy New Year…I know, everybody means well and is so sweet; I am a grumpy moaner. Sorry).
As I said in my previous post, you’ll get the Christmassy atmosphere on my blog after Christmas. I didn’t really dress up for Christmas. At first I wanted to wear this black and white blazer (or is it off-white?) but it was far too warm for the houses we visited. So I went for comfort.
On a sunny day, I got Ron to photograph my blazer, a task he doesn’t like very much, although he is good at it. As we planned to walk to town, have a coffee and shoot a few photos, we passed our beautiful neighbourhood flower shop. Their display and windows are always a nice background and with a black and white outfit, some colour is welcome.
Below: Look at the cute detail on the breast pocket.
Below: I like a quirky piece of clothing; this jacket was love at first sight. The tapered black trousers allow the jacket to shine. After adding a pair of rather comfortable suede high heels I was ready.
Below: And of course, the new black earrings by Lara Design. I had just been to the hairdresser and my hair is all shiny.
By the way, what do you think of my eyes after the eyelid operation?
Below: This is a typical Ron photo. He is always looking for an unusual angle. I opted for the Wandler bag because I wanted a chic outfit, like a Victoria Beckham outfit. My taste is much too fickle to be as sophisticated as she is all the time, but I really like her style and clothes (not in my budget).
Below: The blazer also looks good with jeans. I had Karlijn of kpa.haarlem take this photo in front of her shop. Comfortable and easy on my combat boots.
Below: Here we both are. She hates selfies like this which amuses me so much. She takes selfies all the time to promote her clothes on Instagram. Besides, she is young and beautiful, what’s not to like. But I got permission to publish the photo.
Below: Now this is a terrible selfie. Taken before the visit to the hairdresser when I was trying the blazer with jeans and high heels. I still quite like jeans with high heels and a blazer, but I suppose it is a dated look.
Not too many outfit photos this week as Ron and I turned around and walked home after taking five or six good ones. (Actually, he took 46 photos and I selected five.)
What happened in my life this week
Christmas of course. Spent with family, ever so nice.
Below: A collage of my mum, brother and sister-in-law. Mum in one of her new jumpers.
I won’t bore you with more family pictures as Christmas is now over.
Below: I wore this on the 25th; room for food. Link to original post with higher heeled boots and a different necklace. I prefer this orange necklace and the more comfortable lower heels; I just hoisted the trousers up higher.
I had to arrange another photo shoot with Loes for next week’s blog post. It stopped raining on Wednesday between 10 and 10.45 a.m. which gave us little time to photograph but we managed. It was indeed not raining, only the wind was horribly fierce as you can see below.
Below: The effect of wind on my hair, something which I always want to avoid. So, this is a rare photo and not very pretty.
The week ended with quiet days and a last-minute switch of energy supplier. The research for that, the paperwork…not funny.

That blazer is so much fun! I love it with the black slacks and also with the jeans. Great buy! – Amy

I had to look up the word ‘slacks’ haha. Got it now. The blazer is kind of quirky, so right up my street.
I love the black and White blazer,it’s so unusual and distinctive. May I be cheeky and ask if your local shop has any more for sale?
You may be cheeky haha. In the post I already gave you the link to the website of this brand. They still sell the blazer:
https://copenhagenmuse.dk/collections/jakkesaet
My local shop might have a size S left, if it isn’t sold already but she doesn’t send anything abroad. So if you don’t live in the Netherlands, I am afraid you’ll have to go to the brand’s website.
So what about these with your new blazer if you really want to make eyes pop: I found color block black and white 90s Straight High Jeans on the H&M website. The black is on the right leg; white is on the left (opposite of the blazer). Wowsa!
I am afraid that is a bridge too far for me. I own a pair of Fluevog boots which are black on the right side and white on the left side, so they would be perfect with the jacket. But I find it a bit too much. Makes me too much of a clown.
Happy Merry Joy 2023 – there, done and over with!
I LOVE this fun blazer, Greetje! It’s very “Joker” or “Harley Quinn” but I love that. Would you do more bold colours with it, do you think?
Your eyes look amazing! I laughed at the final pic, sorry – my hair does that full lift thing in the wind too! Ack, my scalp!
All the best to you, Ron, Watson and Mum.
Oh you are right, Joker and Harley Quinn. Another reader said it reminded her of Picasso’s black and white paintings; another good suggestion.
I don’t know whether I find my eyes amazing. Perhaps I am nitpicking but I expected more. I’ll hear more next week (if my plastic surgeon is better again).
Don’t apologize for laughing at the final picture. Why do you think I included it? For you to laugh at.
Wishing you, L and Vizzini a very lovely 2023 as well.
My hair does not move in the wind or rain. It did not move in Hurricane Matthew. Vacation photos: hair on a calm day, hair in a hurricane. The only way to tell the difference is the flags in the background, haha.
How on earth is that possible?
I can easily see why you couldn’t pass up that jacket! It’s classic, but not boring and I’d bet you’ll keep it forever. I guess maybe the heels with jeans is maybe dated, but you look great in that combo and you like it, so why not? It was fun to finally see a photo of Karlijn. Such beautiful skin is wasted on the young! I guess most of us don’t appreciate what we have until its gone, me included.
I think I am vain and just don’t want to look outdated.
Indeed youth is wasted on the young. But we keep on ignoring our beauty. Look at a photo of yourself 10 years ago. You probably think, “gosh, I looked lovely back then”. And so it goes on.
We have to appreciate the now.
So wonderful to get another post! Your eyes look wonderful. You are comfortable then and past everything?
All of your poses are wonderful. I am not a fan of the black and white jacket. Personally, I would have used a black and white print top. It’s so very hard to match whites.
I loved the heels you wore in this shoot and have a red necklace almost exactly like yours!!!
Eyes-wise I am comfortable and past everything, but I am a little disappointed as I expected more result from the operation. It is fine but not spectacular.
The white of my jumper is exactly the white of my blazer in reality, but your suggestion of a black and white print top, is one that I will use. Another reader said the same.
I absolutely love the selfie of you in the jeans and blazer! Dressy, casual, touches all the bases. I so admire your style!
Sue, I wish I knew what “my” style was. I haven’t got a clue. All over the place?
But I guess you don’t mind high heeled pumps with a jeans outfit? Not too dated?
I love your new blazer and the outfit is gorgeous — such a chic bag as well. Great earrings too, of course!
You approve of all items in this outfit then. Great. Means I did well. Thank you.
What an interesting and unique blazer! I prefer it with the black pants, but I also like a blazer with jeans. I wonder if this one might look better with a darker wash jean?
Hmmm, you might be right. I have a darker one with straight legs (the one I used with the puffer vest outfit). Actually, I am a bit low on jeans. Never thought I would say that, but I could do with a couple of new jeans. Rats…no money.
You wear it well. I always like a blazer with jeans and what’s not to like about black and white. Classic I think. You look good! Hope 2023 is a happy year for you.
Thank you for the compliments and good wishes. One can never get enough (of either) LOL.
I agree that black and white is a classic. As is a blazer with jeans.
Did I miss it? What do YOU think of your eyelid surgery? Because honestly, I do not see much difference (in photos).
I absolutely love the jacket and would keep it forever. It reminds me of a Picasso black and white painting. Very cool.
To be honest, I agree with you on the eyelids. I can see the difference and I am pleased but I did expect more of the surgery. My appointment for today with the plastic surgeon for a check, was cancelled as she is ill. Rescheduled for next week when I will ask her some questions. Perhaps a better result wasn’t possible because it is the second time I’ve done this? I don’t know.
You are right about the Picasso black and white paining, usually two faces. I have thought about it too.
Oh my! I had a good laugh with my morning coffee, Greetje!
I know the feeling when the wind takes your hair for a spin!
Even with short hair now , if there’s product in it, I can look like Spike if the wind catches it.
The blazer will prove to be a good addition for your long ,lean look.
I like both ways you’ve worn it. At 5’3” ,I cannot pull it off as well…
not enough leg. Also tossed most of my black & white… editing down to the colours that suit me best.
Isn’t it great to know that your discomfort with the eye surgery has made a difference! ? Brave girl!
I am lucky with facial lines…just the wrinkles above my lips which cannot easily be eradicated, without looking like a clown with a big red mouth for several days! And told it would be expensive but wouldn’t last anyway.
My best wishes ( sorry , another good wish) for a healthy, happy and productive year ahead…with lots of giggles. Catherine
It always makes my day if I read in a comment that I could provide a laugh. It is so the goal of my blog.
The discomfort with the eye surgery only lasted three weeks and the result will last for years. The biggest discomfort was not being able to put on eye make-up, so it wasn’t too bad. I have no experience with wrinkles above my lips, although they are beginning to settle at that spot. I think the method is dermabrasion and indeed, looking like a clown for a couple of days.
After my colour test, I also moved away from black and white, but as I said, sometimes I just don’t care.
Well, it is impossible to deny that it is a very original look. At first I thought it was a mistake, but looking at it fondly I realize that black and white always work in fashion. And, if this combination always works, why not force it to the maximum, what have you done? The chromatic sobriety is very elegant and is offset by the originality of the design. The blazer also works well with jeans, but I prefer the classic proposal, more in my vein.
With the black trousers and high heels, the classic becomes even more classic (although with a quirky twist).
But it is good to have more options.
P.S. Love the picture with your hair blowing. You look like a goddess of nature!
Whahaha…a frightening goddess LOL.
That’s a great blazer, and a “quirky classic” I think you’ll get lots of wear from. I think jeans + blazer will always be a timeless look.
I agree about jeans and blazer being a timeless look. But…can you still wear high heeled pumps with that combination? Or is that a dated look?
I feel like it’s a dated look. But I think you always look very modern with the heavier shoes you pair with your jeans and pants outfits. They give more weight to the outfits which is a good thing!
Thanks for the feedback Anne. I think you are right. So difficult to lose those old styling preferences.
How about a pair of oxfords or lug sole loafers with the jeans and blazer?Might be a bit more on trend.
That blazer is awesome!
I can hardly believe Karlijn dislikes selfies; she is so naturally beautiful! I love her IG feed.
OK, I won’t say happy new year (but I will still wish it for you)!
I think my combat boots are on trend. But I do have a pair of lug sole shoes. Haven’t got any loafers or oxfords. They are not really my style.
Isn’t it strange that Karlijn dislikes selfies? I totally agree that she is naturally beautiful. Very French looking.
Thanks for the good wishes haha.
I agree the jeans and blazer look is timeless. Your eyes look great!
Today I am seeing the plastic surgeon for a last check of my eyelids. I am very curious to hear what she says.
The jeans and blazer look is timeless, but I was hesitating about the high heeled pumps. I think they are outdated with this combination.
