Wide leg jeans with a green jumper

Green jumper

Green jumperTogether with last week’s outfit, Loes photographed my jeans with a green jumper and white necklace at a place called Museum of the Mind. Museum of the Mind (in Dutch called Dolhuys) is situated in a unique medieval building: the former leper-, plague and madhouse.

Below: This is a tiny bit of the complex.

We were in a little secluded garden at the front of the museum, the former courtyard. There were ‘tables’ with photographs by Laurence Aëgerter. The exhibition is called Healing Plants for Hurt Landscapes.
Below: This is one of the photos, called Digitalis ambigua, Normandy, France

Below: More information about the exhibition. I get the connection because the museum is all about the mind.

By the way…I think I finally have a nice butt in trousers with these wide leg ones. Or should you not blow your own trumpet LOL?

Below: We only took three photos of this outfit, as I had originally planned to include them in last week’s post. This is my best jumper, because of the length, shape, neckline and colour. I even had my seamstress create a pattern of it. I just don’t dare sew up a top with this pattern.

Below: The necklace. The stones are a bit damaged as I have had this necklace for many years now. Bought it in one of those covered arcades in Paris.

White necklace

Below: Of course Loes is wearing the same as last week as she did not schlepp another outfit with her. But it is a different photo.

Below: Driving back, we saw beautiful houses and photographed two of them.

What happened in my life this week

Mostly blog problems. I used to have a great woman minding the technical side of my blog, but she was involved in a major car accident and although she tried, she is not able to do the work anymore. So I had to find a new tech person. Not easy and certainly if you cannot afford to pay what they are actually worth.

Luck is on my side. One of my former colleagues at the internet department, knew a trustworthy (and very skilled) person who was willing to do the work. And of course, in the process of transferring, there are bound to be things going wrong. Luckily my “old” tech lady could help me when my blog stopped doing everything and the new guy (it is a guy now) was able to implement the stuff he needed to. I won’t go into detail as I will only bore you. But let’s say, they were ominous days and I am very pleased everything is fine now.

Below: I decided to give away all my high heels. My friend Sabine is the same size and we tend to share the same taste in shoes. She came round on the Sunday and chose 3 or 4 pairs. As I don’t know anybody else my size, I will give the rest to charity. My heart bleeds, but there is no way I am going to be able to walk in them again. OK, I did put 4 pairs back. For a sitting down night.

High heeled shoes and boots

We had coffee with cake at Ron’s brother, who was celebrating his 73rd birthday.
Below: I was wearing this. I was so pleased I finally had something to dress up for. (Link to original post.) Temperatures have dropped to 10 degrees Celsius, so for me, it is winter.

Bright outfit with bright pink blazer and purple blue trousers

Of course mum needed attention in the hospital too. Luckily she recovered from her severe pneumonia and on Thursday Ron and I could take her back to the nursing home. She is perky again although still feeling quite tired.

Helga and I enjoyed a delicious meal at restaurant Metzo. Just before we left, we asked to have our photo taken. It was dark, there were lights behind us, so it totally failed haha. But the look on our faces below, however grainy, clearly demonstrates the fun time we had.

  1. Your bum looks taut and perky and you should totally toot your own horn over it! This overall look is so very “you” – the batwing sleeves, the high-waisted long-legged trousers. Aw, sorry about your heels – I’m gradually letting go of the not comfortable shoes too, as I replace heels with lower heights. Sending good vibes to your mum, as always. Sorry to hear of your techie person woes! Lovely pics, even the blurry ones – it’s always more about the feeling than a pretty picture anyway, isn’t it?

    1. Thanks for the bum compliment. And you are right about the feeling being more important than a pretty picture.
I will visit your blog again today. Sorry I was absent so much.

Hi beautiful comfortable joyful again. Where do we get wide leg jeans. Please. Thank you.

    1. Wide leg jeans should be available everywhere. Here is a link to the ones I have, but they don’t deliver everywhere, mostly in Europe.

  3. I understand no more high heels. Same here. Your jeans look great!

    1. It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to my high heels. Luckily I can still walk on a 6 cm heel if it is a wedge or a block heel.

  4. Very nice outfit. Sorry to hear about the heels. You always look so nice in them! I have a question: I realized that you never wear animal prints, not shirts or jackets or sweaters. What do you think about wearing them? I especially like leopard print and bought a sweater today but wondering if I should wear it? I usually never wear animal prints. your help and advice is needed!!!

    1. I love animal print and especially leopard print. Thanks for reminding me, I will create some outfits with a leopard blazer.
In the meantime…how about my leopard trousers:

  5. glad to hear the good news about your mother. Giving up higher heels is hard for so many reasons. However, enjoying what we are doing and where we are going is a gift. Like many, I did keep one pair that never get worn but remind me of a past me and a past life.

    1. It isn’t a bad thing to have sentimental reminders as long as your wardrobe isn’t filled to the brim with them. And my wardrobe was. Time to say goodbye and move on.

Greetje, I enjoyed your blog, and laughed at the butt view! The Museum Of The Mind has an interesting past!
So glad your mother is better. I hope she continues to improve with winter coming.
I feel your loss of shoes, you had some pretty ones! I hope you find the pretty comfortable shoes as I have. I love Fly London. You’d love the colors they do and their soft leathers. They run slightly narrow so I put them on shoe stretchers. They last and last. Definitely not a one season shoe!

Loved your green jumper and pants. Very nice!

    1. I saw your email with examples of the Fly London shoes. Those photos materialized, but not all photos.
I know the brand and the shoes and heard many women rave about them.
It doesn’t matter that they run slightly narrow as I have narrow feet.
Glad you laughed at my butt view. I love people laughing over my post.

  7. Great outfit. I love blue and green together. When I was in high school (late 60s), the two popular color combinations were green and blue, and pink and orange.
I thought it was so funny that you went directly from describing the intellectual Museum of the Mind exhibit to discuss how your butt looked in the jeans. This is one of the reasons I read your posts – you are interested in both aspects of life!
Love the photo of you and Helga. You both look so happy!
    Have a good week.

    1. Where I live, blue and green together was forbidden in the old days, just as pink and orange. I am so glad these silly rules are over. By the sound of it you were far ahead of us in this matter.
I did hesitate when I made that abrupt change from art and intellectual to clothes and my butt haha. But decided to go ahead. That’s me, changing conversation like that all the time. I skip from one subject to another in a nano second. Ron finds that very annoying. He cannot follow it which is understandable as he cannot look inside my head.
Helga and I had a jolly good time.

  8. Lovely to see you back online again Greetje.
Love the pink jacket and silver boots outfit.
Its a bummer not being able wear high heels any longer isn’t it?
I have just about accepted I am unable to do so due to dodgy knees but quite depressing, wedges all the way for me now.

    1. I still have my EIJK boots. Their heels look like stilettos from the back, but they are actually a nipped-in wedge (if that makes sense). Still 6 cm high but they are like flat boots to me.

  9. I had to laugh — you buried the bombshell almost as an aside. You gave away your heels?! Congratulations! Your feet, knees, and hips thank you (although I recognize the loss).

    1. Does every woman see giving up heels, as a bombshell? Perhaps they do. It took me 3 years to come to this decision. When I was still working, you would only go for short walks, and in the office, so always on flat surfaces. Totally different from going to town and walking outside.

  10. Great outfit! I love the green with the blue. Can you believe that my mom never allowed us to wear blue and green together? Your booties are so cool. Amazing that you still have flowers in your garden. We have already snow.

    1. I can believe you. Blue and green, red and green, blue and black, brown and black…these were all forbidden combinations.
Yes, in the Netherlands the climate is quite mild. Nothing like your neck of the woods.

  11. I jumped on the “flat shoes only” train several years ago (in my 50’s). Haven’t had a single minute of regret.

    1. I think I won’t have any regrets either. It is what it is. No use crying over spilled milk.

  12. Oh, dear. Getting rid of something as iconic as my high heels was heart breaking. I am (was) quite tall and I loved the impact wearing heels made. It was one of a few things I wore that broadcast confidence. I mourned when I sold them all. But, I kept a pair that I bought in Paris, don’t dare wear them. Between balance issues and tender feet, my high heels are in the past. And, yes blow your horn as loudly as you can, and those wide leg trousers make your legs go for miles.

    1. I am getting rid of at least 10 pairs but I am still keeping 5 or 6 pairs (those will go with the next wardrobe clean-up haha).
Thank you for the nice compliments.

  13. Both outfits you showed were great! I understand about high heels, my fussy feet don’t really tolerate them anymore either. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted!

    1. That’s the right approach: “it was fun while it lasted”. We’d better accept it and not look back.

  14. Greetje I love this outfit. The green with the blue denim is such a good combination. The trainers make the outfit modern (and comfortable I am sure :). I love your dress-up outfit with the pink jacket and silver boots as well. You sure can acknowledge when your behind looks good says me who also has a flat pancake for a butt usually, although eating too much bread does make it bigger haha. Take care, Rgds, Lise

    1. Oh yes, it is a very comfortable outfit. I had to laugh when I read your comment. No matter how much bread I eat, my bum doesn’t get bigger. My belly on the other hand, does.
