Moss green dress by Bellamy Gallery

Moss green dressThat was a close call. These photos of my moss green dress were taken yesterday. I nearly had nothing to post. Luckily Ron was prepared to take the pictures and the weather wasn’t bad. Ron found a good spot where I would be protected from rain and wind: a small gazebo at the Elswout Estate in Overveen (adjacent to Haarlem). We will definitely go back there for more photos as they have phenomenal sites and buildings. In summer, when it is nice and green. View Post

Saint Nicolas in The Netherlands

Saint Nicolaas (Sinterklaas as we call it in The Netherlands) needs a bit of explanation.  It is a tradition from long ago. The story: a bishop, declared holy, called Saint Nicolaas, gives presents to little children on his birthday, the 5th of December. He arrives on a steam ship (yeah.. right..) from Spain. And he has helpers who climb down the chimneys (….) to deliver the presents in each house. The presents are put in the shoe of the children who have placed them near the fire place (… in an appartment?). Children put a carrot in the shoe for the white horse of Saint Nicolaas. It is a bit like Santa Claus at Christmas with reindeers. You can also read a funny explanation of this tradition on the site Stuff Dutch people like.

This is the good bit. Now the controversy, or better said, the battle which is going on around Saint Nicolaas.  View Post

Lavender dress by Max Mara… and a hat

Lavender dress by Max MaraAnother dress. I am living up to my promise, arent’t I? More skirts and dresses. This lavender dress by Max Mara is my best buy at the outlet in Turin this August. Oh and the boots as well: comfortable in spite of the high heel and I think they make every dress and skirt look modern. Which was my biggest problem: how to create a more modern look with dresses and skirts. View Post

Max Mara sweater with black pencil skirt

MM Green B&W sweater with black pencil skirt (5 van 10)This Max Mara sweater looks black and white but there is a hint of green in it. The photos were taken at the same courtyard with almshouses where we photographed the cream A-line skirt with the “eye shirt”. Not only did we manage to take the pictures in 40 minutes (including driving there and walking up to the place), I also changed skirts and tops. You can see from these photos how cold I was. It seems the colder I get, the more wrinkles are showing. Could also be because I am getting older and older, therefore more wrinkled. Better get used to it as it is not going to get any better. Graffiti art in Amsterdam

SAMSUNG CSCJill of Everything Just So asked me whether I would be interested in joining Adrienne and her for “How I Wear My Booties” on March 2. She saw my post with the blue sweater and liked it. Of course I agreed. But as I didn’t really like the blue and white striped skirt, I decided to do another post with skirt and booties. On  Valentine’s Day Ron wanted to please me (….) and when I suggested we’d take photos, he agreed. Not his hobby although you might think otherwise. No, it is just my hobby. But it was Valentine’s Day  😆 . He knew a good spot with lots of graffiti art in Amsterdam, at the Spuistraat. Not really my cup of tea, but I am not the one with the artistic eye. He is. The weather was ideal for photography (dry and bright but not sunny). View Post
